AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE is an interesting story about two generations of Los Angeles agents. Starting in the 190s, Beau Rosenwald arrives in LA and founds what becomes the most successful agency. The story is told from the perspective of his son, and we see Beau Rosenwald's relationship with his business partner collapse, and the fallout and ripple effects this has on the family, the industry, and more.

It took me a few times to get into this novel, but when I finally did, I really enjoyed it. Specktor's writing is great, as are his characters. The pacing is a little slow, at times, and it did take me a little while to get into the story. But, it improved and I really enjoyed it. Great characters.

Recommended.
