It’s not just the romance that makes this story so compelling, though. It’s the push and pull of pursuing your dreams versus giving in to what your heart desires. Wilson perfectly balances the heat between them with deeper emotional stakes that make you question what you’d be willing to sacrifice for love. The chemistry between Lucky and Hunter is undeniable, and their connection is the kind of slow burn that keeps you hooked from start to finish. All in all, this is an unputdownable read for sure.

Oh! A romance at sea. Yes, please! This book is fun and flirty and I adored the story. The setting around the Mediterranean is fabulous. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I loved this book! The story was really entertaining and the setting was perfect for the winter when all I want is warm weather.

I am very conflicted on this book. I wanted to like it more than I did because I love Sariah Wilson's writing, but the execution fells short for this reader. This one being dual POV (!!!!) instalove AND slowburn just did not work for me. They had a valid reason for keeping distance for it being slowburn, and yet, they didn't really because instalove. And then because it was Dual POV, the reader isn't sitting there thinking Hunter is a giant playboy because we *know*, so a lot of the tension was never there. Caveat: this is Ms. Wilson's first dual POV book and it was a decision made by the editor, not the author to do this. But for the love of God, can authors and editors realize that there IS a way to do dual POV and keep up tension??? The twist of who he really is, isn't a twist at all because of the dual nature of the book.
Dual POV. FMC panic attacks. Tall. Takes care of younger twin sisters. MMC has a dead sister. FMC has a dead mother. Neither of these is huge in the plot, but the fact they happen shape the characters, if that makes sense. Overwhelming attraction. Insta love but slow burn. (I kinda wish they’d just lie and be in denial about liking each other. That would've upped the tension. Instead it's like a sweet falling in love but you're also kind of like Why am I reading this? because what keeps them apart seems flimsy at best.
If instalove-slowburn isn't enough to turn off reader, I think the FMC will. Unfortunately, most of my complaints are about her. She's kind of dumb. Some select examples:
-No password on her phone?! She works on a charter boat in a foreign country with new people constantly coming and going.
-He tells the crew they’re together and she gets mad? He says it so the others will get off his back and she thinks all his flirting is a ruse? But it's really hard to believe when he's given ZERO indication of this possibly being a thing. And because it's dual, we really know it's not a thing.
-Actual quotes: “Why do you want to kiss me?” “Why do you want to touch me?” And she wonders why he says “Unlike some people I know when I’m being flirted with”?
The phone call with the sisters seemed a little mean? Just cutting them off with no warning. And then suddenly calling when she needed something (comfort.) It wasn’t like the reader sees Lucky texting them ever. It felt a little underdeveloped and underutilized in a narrative sense.
She compulsively takes the blame for things unnecessarily, like when Hunter messed up the bed spread because he didn’t know. He’s not getting fired. He’s the boat owner’s kid. She knows that by then. But “I did it because I loved him. Because I didn’t want him to miss out on what was important to him.” The problem is, she’s so concerned with being fired that I just don’t believe this part of her personality. Because then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and she doesn’t change. That’s terrible leadership.
But then at the end, she’s telling Hunter she left Portifino for this always-looking-out-for-others affliction she had, but that’s NOT why she left. She left to clear her head. She rewrites her history to fit the characterization that was *almost* there.
She’s incredibly insecure if one off-handed comment about Georgia never playing hard to get has her thinking she played a game with Hunter. But she twists it to Georgia suggesting that was what Hunter was doing.
She’s a little too self-aware but isn’t going to change. “But all I could think about was all the men who had tricked me before. Who had lied to me and used me and cheated on me. Maybe that was unfair to Hunter, that I was making him bear the brunt of my past heartache and broken trust.” “I’d let Georgia interfere too much already. It was her doubts and fears that she’d expressed to me just before I saw the kiss that pushed me toward disbelief. Not that I’d needed much of a push, with my dating past.”
She wishes she could’ve been more open with Hunter from the start at the end of the book, but she had. She told him about her, her sisters, her mom, her nonna, her ex…
And then, there is soooo much going on in the Third Act Conflict omg. The sCrew list, the no-dating policy, the “cheating,” the lying (twice), the firing… and it happens so late in the book. So late. But this is kind of a Sariah Wilson standard, so. The conflict from Hunter’s POV was kinda dumb too. “She’s just been waiting for me to screw up.” Well, yes, but this was very poorly foreshadowed. Like after that sentence, you can see backwards, oh yeah the author was trying to lay those crumbs, but not really because Lucky was always all in on Hunter. They just had to wait, and she was willing, but she was always all in.
The romance was a little cheesy and oh-so-sweet though. “No one else is here. You don’t have to pretend.” “I’m not pretending Lucky. I’ve never pretended with you.”
This book is intended to be a little raunchier than past Sariah Wilson novels, but it's still clean/no sex. I'm worried that it'll be a little too much for past fans but it's still very tame, very clean, very Sariah Wilson just a few more allusions to sex and more makeouts.
I am forever complaining about Montlakes copyediting team, and this novel is no exception.
Last complaint: Whyyyyyyy was this book not titled something about "Getting Lucky"?!?!?!?!
Anyway. If the editor reads this and is still wondering how to help Ms. Wilson break out and why it hasn't happened yet, call me babe.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! This was a fun read. I love Sariah Wilson’s writing. It was a fun setting on a super yacht! Lots of chemistry from the main characters. It was fun and super quick read. I enjoyed it!

If you're a fan of Below Deck, you'll love this one. I thought the premise was very unique, but the execution fell short for me.
Lucky is working on a superyacht to save money for the bakery she wants to open. She is quickly promoted to chief stew and is given one main rule: no hookups. Enter Hunter. Hunter comes from money and has been sent to work on the yacht as a...lesson? Hunter and Lucky have a love at first sight situation, but they have to follow the rules. How will they ever keep their hands off each other?!
I just didn't believe that Lucky and Hunter fell in love that quickly. The chemistry wasn't convincing, and it seemed to happen so quickly. I also didn't feel like the characters developed throughout. Hunter wanted to do something good in honor of his sister, so his parents sent him on a superyacht to work for it? It just didn't make sense.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC!

This is a five-star read that is boatloads of fun. I was so happy with the way this story went, I was frustrated at times, as it seemed like life was just rubbish for Lucky, even if she had a great job, she had rubbish people working with her and sisters who just needed to be told no more often, but we all do things we need to keep some close. But just like the ocean this went up and down, and I am just so glad about how it ended, it went down, but only for a moment. When you read you will know the moment I mean.

I just love reading books by Sariah Wilson. Her latest, Fallinv Overboard was such a good book. Don’t skip this one!

This is a 'real' love story and romantic read. It was an enjoyable read and I liked the way the characters were written. Our hero and heroine have their own hang ups as well keeping the way they are feeling secret.
It's a story that's worth reading and has a satisfying conclusion to it. I enjoyed the sisters destroy and the bakery story. I also loved the depth of the characters and they got to know each other before the romance progressed too far.
I receive complimentary books for various sources including, Netgalley, Authors, and other such sources. I am not required to write a positive review and have not received compensation.

First off, thank you Sariah Wilson, NetGalley and Montlake for an advanced reader copy of this book!
I really enjoyed this book! This book is a must read for fans of the Below Deck shows or anyone who has always wondered what its like to work on a superyacht! Lucky is working as a chief stewardess on a superyacht to make enough money to open her own bakery. She is all about following the rules, but that becomes difficult when new deckhand Hunter joins the boat at the same time as a no fraternization rule is added by the new owners. While sparks fly between the two, Hunter has some secrets that could jeopardize their growing connection.
I started reading this book while on a cruise (not a superyacht unfortunately) and found it to be a great vacation read! I liked learning about live one the yacht and the dynamics between the different stewardesses and deck team. It was a light, easy read and I enjoyed seeing the relationship evolve between Lucky and Hunter.

Lucky is working on a cruise ship to achieve her goal of owning a bakery. There is just one rule no relationships between crew mates. Lucky thinks that will be easy as she has no intention of falling in love but working hard towards her dream. It may be harder than she thinks. Forbidden love in idyllic setting will whisk you away and leave you feeling refreshed.

Thank you net galley and publisher for this ARC. This was a cute and fun story and I would recommend it.

What a fun book!!!! I was sucked into this book the moment I read the first page! The premise of a love story happening on a yacht in these beautiful countries? Yes, please!! Lucky is a strong character that has had some hard things happen and she is determined to make her dream of opening a bakery come true. Hunter has a lot to prove to his parents by coming to work on this yacht. The secret he is holding could make or break his dreams as well. The chemistry when they meet is immediate and the swoony moments continue throughout the book. The side characters make this book complete and the places that are described they visit is a bonus. I love anything by Sariah Wilson and I've read everything she's written. This is another successful story!! Get ready to set sail for love!

Sariah Wilson always brings whimsy and charm to her romance books and Falling Overboard will give you all the sea fairing and wanderlust!
I always love a good vacation fling romance and this one was so sweet, fun, charming and makes you want to set sail. Lucky and Hunter had such a fun and swoony dynamic that I devoured. One thing I loved was getting to see them fall for each other despite her not wanting to and the push and pull and the forced proximity. Romance readers will eat this up! It's the perfect romance to sit by the deck or on a plane.

I was drawn to this book from the cover and description, but I found the story to be slow, awkward, and at times, kind of cringy. I think the premise is a good one, forbidden (by the captains rule) love aboard a luxury yacht sailing through the Mediterranean. Some of the banter was cute and sweet, and I did like how the author sensitively handled complex issues of ADHD and mental health, which is so important to positively reflect in our society. I would have loved to have had more description of the places they were sailing, I think it would have elevated the story. Some of the secondary characters were really annoying and immature. Overall, if you're looking for a light right with some fluff, this is a good read for you. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Lucky and Hunter's chemistry is insane. I love the forbidden-ness of their relationship and it adds a steamy factor to the story for sure. I wish there was some consequence for Emilie's bad behavior but overall enjoyed the book.

I'll be honest. I was disappointed by this book. I've always been a huge Sariah Wilson fan Maybe it was just my mood but this one dragged on. This book had more sexual content than her other books. The sexual innuendo and talk stuck out and distracted from the storyline. I loved the characters, the set-up and the puns!

I love everything this author writes!! This book was no different. Perfect pacing and the storyline was soooo good! Thanks for the ARC!

4.5 stars
Sariah Wilson's Happy Ever Afters make my heart happy.
This one has forced proximity, forbidden romance, and so many puns. I also really like the different settings Sariah comes up with for her books and the obvious research that goes into them. This one has baking and yachts!
Recommended.

This book was super cute! I really enjoyed reading about these characters. The forbidden love element reaaaaallly spiced this book up and had me on the edge of my seat for what felt like forrrevvvverrrr (in a good way) because it is also a slow burn! I also ABSOLUTELY LOVED the representation for Anxiety and ADHD and THE PUNS!!!! Oh lord! The puns! This book was a great combo of romance, comedy and plot.
