I'm so appreciative of this book. As an anti-zionist jew, I found it to be poignant, important, and timely. I ended up ordering copies for a few friends!

Coming from a mixed religious family I have always been interested in learning about my parents religions, while following my own path. This book could not come at a better time to combat the rising tide of Zionistic propaganda that is trying to claim the Jewish religion to back their colonialism and settler views. I was already aware Jewish voices for Peace prior and the disconnect between the true Jewish followers and those who hide behind the guise of it.

Somerson does not shy away from how Jew people’s shared trauma is being used to support a genocide that many Jews do not support. This is a must read not only for Jewish people but those who may fall into the trap of believing that all Jews are Zionists and Zionism is equal to Judaism. It was also interesting to hear more about Jewish Voices for peace and their work and activism. A must read in the current climate that reminds us there will always be those who will try to manipulate narrative and try to hide behind the guise of religion and trauma to justify their ways and how important it is to realise that we cannot assign everyone to the same beliefs and actions of their government or those who claim to be speaking on behalf of a group as a whole.

It feels so important that this book is being published and will be read now. It was educational, informative, emotional and helpful. As an anti-Zionist Jew, it was really moving and validating to read about others like me who are frustrated that our people and our shared trauma is being used as reasoning behind a genocide that we do not support. I was familiar with the work of Jewish voices for peace prior to reading the book and found it really interesting to get more insight into the organisation and the activism that they’re doing. This book provided a lot of actionable information about how to continue to vocally opposed Zionism.
