Angela Henry delivered a suspense-filled thrill ride that grips you from the very first page and refuses to let go.
This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing is masterfully atmospheric, and the way she describes the Dorsey mansion evokes a chilling sense of isolation and danger. The setting is almost a character itself, amplifying the suspense as secrets unravel. From the creepy third-floor ban to shadowy figures lurking in the woods, readers are constantly on edge, wondering what might be lurking just out of sight.
I was hooked from the beginning. The story’s pace is relentless, with no dull moments to slow you down. It’s the kind of book that makes you say, “Just one more chapter,” until you realize you’ve read the entire thing in one sitting. I binge-read it was impossible to stop.
And the ending? Absolutely mind-blowing. The plot twists are cleverly woven, keeping you guessing and second-guessing every character’s motives. I thought I had the mystery figured out, but the final reveal left me stunned.
Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden and Lisa Jewell, The Family Lies is a must-read.

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for letting me review this amazing book!
This psychological thriller, put me on a mental rollercoaster of shocks, twists, and turns. It was fantastic!
There are multiple POVs, and the main character is Sabrina who is more than down on her luck. One thing Sabrina has on her side, however, is that she is very wise.
With her wit, she was able to acquire the job of a lifetime. However things quickly turn into a strange direction. Little nuggets of clues are given throughout the book, but you are in for a thrilling ride!
The title of this book is spot on. Do you want to know what happens? Pick up a copy and you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a thrill and for your mind to be blown away!

With so many authors nowadays comparing their new thrillers to my favorites I'm always a little skeptical. However thrillers in general do tend to stand out as my preferred reading choice but they're not always as good as their proclaimed. This book however really grabbed my attention and despite the comparison to my favorite book I really decided that would give this one a shot anyway. While it was a little slow in the beginning it really picked up after a bit. This book is all about our main character Sabrina struggling while living with her sister and her pervy brother in law, but unable to move. When the town's most eligible bachelor comes in and offers her a short term job at restoring his personal library she jumps at the offer even though she knows nothing about restoration. This can't be real, Sabrina gets to move out from her sisters house, work with books, and live with the town's most sought after bachelor? This is her dream, or so she thinks. What should be the perfect job soon becomes tarnished as Sabrina realises that the Dorcey's are hiding many secrets and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. I loved the sense of mystery that was ever present right from the get go. As a reader I was desperate to figure out what this family was hiding but desperate to keep the book going at the same time. I found this book very hard to put down and I couldn't get enough. This was a very fast paced read with lots of twists and turns. I loved the characters and even the ones I didn't like I like how well they were written. The best part about the book was the total sense for foreboding and wondering when the shoe was going to drop on our poor Sabrina. What I did find enjoyable was everytime I though I knew what the ending was going to be, the author would then announce my suspicions super early on in the book so I knew that meant there was a lot more going on behind the scenes, and I wouldn't be right. This is the perfect plot for a movie but even if it just stays a novel I feel that I'm very lucky l to have been given the opportunity to read it. This was a creepy thriller that really keeps the reader on their toes, and the twists and turns were fantastic, nothing I ever saw coming, and the ending really left me stunned. Great read and I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to check it out early because I loved everything about it. Everytime I thought it couldn't get any better it showed up and left me completely blown out of the water. Clear your schedule when you start this one however because you will be unable to put it down. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us. And after a whirlwind like this book I know that this is an author no one will want to miss out on.

4.25/5 and could have been higher, but it went a little off the rails for me near the end.
The bulk of the story revolves around Sabrina, Theo, Mrs. Manning, Jared, Luca, and Belle (which also happens to be my nickname!).
This was my first Angela Henry read, and I'm impressed! As far as format, the book is organized with several POVs. POVs are chapter specific and don't bounce around unnecessarily, making the changes in characters easy to follow. The author did a great job of describing each character and setting in great detail, so it was easy to visualize the story as it progressed.
This story is creepy from the start. You're already wondering "who killed her" before you start chapter 1. I found this to be an easy read, fast to pull you in and enough going on to keep your interest. Most of the characters are keeping secrets, which helps the twists and turns to keep coming. You might think you know who did it, but you don't.
While I think the story overall is great, it did loose me a little near the end. There was some extraneous storyline happening that felt unnecessary and messy to me, and I personally believe the book would have been better without it. But that's just my opinion and I am sure others will love the details near the end of the book.
This was definitely a good read and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a good murder mystery.

A well-written, twisty, edge-of-your-seat novel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading! I loved the main character and found her to be very relatable in a way that sucked me into her story from the start. The author did a fantastic job of leading the reader along the ever-changing path of "who-dun-it", and every time I had thought I guessed it, I guessed wrong. There were layers to the book, and I enjoyed that there were plenty of other plot details to add to the depth of the story aside from the overarching theme. That to me is a great indicator of a great thriller, and I would highly recommend this to any reader who adores this same genre. Very well-done!

The Family Lies has a very gothic feel to it. Sabrina has been laid off from her job at the local library and has lied about having her library science degree. She is one class short of completing her degree and never did a masters and lied about both on her resume. When she receives an offer to catalogue a private library for the local wealthy family, she is thrilled. But the housekeeper has a series of very strict rules for her and there seem to be secrets and tension everywhere. Is one of the family a murderer or are they being set up?
The story kept me reading to see what was going to happen next. There are plenty of twists in this story and a couple of final shockers!
Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for another 5 star read from Storm Publishing!! Call me crazy But I might have just found my new favorite Publisher & A new favorite author to read! Seems Storm is putting out all the great new books!!
I loved pretty much everything about this book, every second was exciting, I couldn't put it down! This was a VERY twisty turny fast paced read, and there was NO WAY anyone was figuring out that ending! I think I had my jaw dropped for the last hour of the book at least ! Holy cow
I have no idea how i haven't heard of Angela Henry before I got on NetGalley but I will definitely be looking out for her books now! That was So great I switched from my kindle to my phone back to my kindle every time I had to take my dog outside!! LOVED all the Main characters, Mrs Manning had me cracking up, it's always the snoody old women that get me

Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. I think the premise of this story was interesting and I loved the characters and all the twists and turns, but the ending was a bit hard to believe. On an entertaining level, it was a fun and fast read that will keep you guessing but you'll be wrong. Sabrina Adams works at a small bookstore when she meets Theo Dorsey. Wealthy, handsome Theo offers Sabrina a wonderful opportunity to work in the private Dorsey family library. From the beginning there are so many things that would make a normal person quit and go home but Sabrina sticks it out as she herself has lied and has nothing else to go home to. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat, Like I mentioned before, the ending was a bit hard to believe but it was a fun read, and I would definitely recommend.

This book is about Sabrina, a librarian that is hired to catalog the personal library of a wealthy family. There are a lot of strict rules in this house & Sabrina soon finds that weird things start happening.
The book started out pretty slow, I feel like nothing super interesting happened until about the last quarter. Lots of things that didn’t necessarily need to be included, it probably could’ve been a little shorter. There were, of course, multiple twists towards the end that I definitely didn’t see coming but some of it I felt was a little too over the top.
It was still an interesting premise overall & it kept me captivated enough that I wanted to finish the book to find out what happened but it ended up just being okay.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC.

Talk about skeletons in the closet. The Dorseys, as well as Sabrina Adams, seem to have a closet that is overflowing.
In many ways, this felt like a unique take on Cinderella...a charming, good looking man (Theo) sweeps in and rescues a beautiful young woman (Sabrina) who is desperate to change her current living circumstances. However, that comparison swiftly ends once the beautiful young woman moves into the Dorsey family estate. Sabrina immediately meets Mrs. Manning, the housekeeper who presents as more of the keeper of the estate. Mrs. Manning has numerous bizarre and strict rules that would have sent most people running...not Sabrina. From the moment she decides to make this place her home, unusual and unsettling events begin. All I can say is get ready for the unexpected. The saying, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", does apply.
While the story diversions kept me guessing (which I like), the main character did not captivate my interest. I had a really hard time believing that the good looks and mysteriousness surrounding Theo was enough to keep Sabrina living in dangerous circumstances. I just didn't buy into it, because the connection between these two characters did not come across strongly enough at any point in the story. In the final chapters, so many twists and turns occur. It kind of feels like you are down to the last few pieces of the puzzle, only to find out that the remaining pieces don't fit. Perhaps with this grand finale, less is more.
Thank you to Storm Publishing for providing an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. I truly consider it a privilege to read an author's work. These opinions are entirely my own. In addition, as this is an advanced copy, some changes could have been made prior to final print.

This was so good... until it wasn't. The last quarter of the book was... a mess. People with the same name, a reveal of a timeline jump, some delusional weirdness, too many secrets and twists. The nucleus of the book is good but it fell apart at the end trying to be so much.

The Author does a good job with s painting the picture and bringing her characters to life, making it easy to immerse yourself in the story.
The twists and turns kept me guessing, and even though the pacing slowed down in a few spots, the plot’s intensity made up for it.
By the end, I was thoroughly impressed with how it all came together.
This is a good psychological thriller that delivers unexpected twists, rich characters, and edge-of-your-seat suspense. If you love books that keep you guessing and leave you stunned, READ THIS BOOK!

Thank you for allowing me to review this book. A psychological thriller that doesn't disappoint. The story is told from the point of view of different characters. Who is telling the truth. Who did I believe? Well that changed as the story progresses. Very well written and highly recommended.

I am not sure how to feel about this book. It was well written and I enjoyed the main character but it was a bat shit crazy plot! Totally unexpected, so it meets the "you aren't ever going to guess who did it" mark, but was a little too unbelievable for me. Plenty of plot twists I didn't see coming and otherwise enjoyable. I will definitely look out for other works by this author.

DNF at 13%. This just wasn't for me. The use of the phrase 'Awkward AF' within the first chapter already set the tone for me. The prologue essentially giving away the entire plot and just seemed very rushed especially the last paragraph.
I found the characters quite boring and nothing really made me want to continue reading on, there was quite a few *mistakes* and It was just hard to see past.
I do think the story could have potential if it wasn't rushed.
DNF so 1 star from myself unfortunately.

Loved this racer thriller! Was my first book by this author but will definitely not be my last! If you haven’t read it yet, run to the store and get a copy!
Was so easy to read and great ending.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC in return for an honest review.

My first Angela Henry book but definitely not my last. This was fast paced and twisty. Great characters that kept me flipping pages long into the night.
Thank you NetGalley, Angela Henry and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book

Angela Henry delivers a masterclass in suspense with The Family Lies, a psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story follows Sabrina, a protagonist who believes she’s landed her dream job, only to find herself entangled in a web of unsettling events and enigmatic characters within the house she now works.
From the beginning, there’s an eerie tension that permeates the narrative, growing more palpable as Sabrina uncovers strange behaviors and secrets among the family. The discovery of a possible murder intensifies the stakes, pushing her to unravel the chilling truths hidden within the household.
Henry’s writing shines with its ability to build suspense incrementally, layering intrigue and mystery until the climax. The pacing is perfect, with just enough twists to keep readers guessing without overwhelming them. Sabrina’s journey is as much about self-discovery as it is about unveiling the truth, making her a relatable and compelling protagonist.
The novel’s blend of psychological tension and dramatic revelations ensures that The Family Lies is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking. Fans of dark, atmospheric thrillers will find this book hard to put down. It’s a story that stays with you, leaving you eager to discuss its twists and turns long after turning the final page.

When the word 'lies' in a book's title, I know that I am going to be in the land of secrets, deception, twists and turns! The Family Lies had me turning the pages and on the edge of my seat for most of the book. I thought I knew where this book was going and then the author threw in a twist and reveal which left me reeling!
Sabrina Adams can't believe her luck when she is hired by Theo Dorsey, to work as a private librarian for the uber wealthy Dorsey family. She will be working for them for two years and in addition to free room and board, she will be paid nicely. But she soon learns that all that glitters is not gold. She is given a set of rules by the housekeeper and told she must avoid the third floor and be home by midnight or be locked out for the night. When a woman disappears, the police come knocking and Sabrina becomes more suspicious and concerned.......
I devoured the first 80% of this book, then it took a turn, and it went off into OTT territory and I
found my enjoyment diminishing. It's a shame as I enjoyed most of this book immensely. I would still read another book by this author as most of this book is gripping, riveting, and hard to put down.

This novel begins in 2018 with a woman--Cherise--being hit by a car. Immediately we are transported to present day where Sabrina--a book-lover and library employee-- is hired by handsome Theo who owns an estate with a huge library that she will be in charge of as well as living there in luxury. Of course this is every book lover's dream but things begin to seem odd as Sabrina is suspicious of housekeeper, Anna and hears rumors of Belle who is his sister but confined to the. house as she's paralyzed. The longer Sabrina is there--although she adores the library--she becomes suspicious of the things she sees that are "unusual" and often frightening--like a strange man she sees lurking outside the window at night. This is one of those convoluted tales that had me gasping at every twist and turn!
