Not a big fan, but before you hold it against me, hear me out, I was sent this ARC by Netgalley, and I was curious, I don’t normally read LGBT simply because I don’t relate? But this one was quite popular so, I went ahead and tried it.
It wasn’t the best written book in my opinion, the characters weren’t half as deep as I’d have liked them to be, and the chemistry almost didn’t exist. The cover’s a beauty tho. Sorry.

The Nightmare Before Kissmas was already a truly wonderful book and I feel like having this available for individuals to use for a book club is an inspired idea. I hope to see more books get these book club kits.

These kits seem to have some content warnings listed and links to StoryGraph for the full list of reader-submitted content warnings. I have mixed feelings about this and would prefer all the necessary warnings to be in the kit itself rather than behind a link.

Loved having the author interview and questions for discussing the book right at the beginning. The questions can be a bit spoilery, so maybe don’t read them before or in the middle of reading the book. I know some book clubs have discussions about the book in the middle of reading so maybe the questions could be sorted in a way that there would be some about the beginning of the book, etc, and it would be marked what chapters they’re about? These seem to work well after you’ve finished reading but not so much when you’re in the middle of reading.

The printable bookmarks and the recipes were a nice addition. Once again, I would personally prefer having all the recipes written in the kit instead of having to go through different links. Two of the recipes were actually written down and had nice pictures attached to them and I wish all the recipes were like that.

Loved having the playlist, both as a Spotify link and written down. And the activities seemed fun!

What to read next, about the author and highlighting the author’s other books were a nice addition.

I borrow the audiobook from my public library and loved it so much it might become a yearly listen. This packet provides author interview, activities and recipes related to the author and the book. It's really cute and I might try some of these recipes.

Definitely my favorite Christmas book! Will most likely be a yearly re-read! I loved Coal and Hex’s relationship as well as Coals relationship with Kris and Iris! All of the Christmas activities gave the book the perfect atmosphere! I’m really looking forward to annotating the book during me first re-read!

Was a cute little addition to the book. Disappointed it’s not a permanent download as wanted to go back and try some of the recipes and crafts but it was really adorable and thoroughly enjoyed it.
