Three women, best friends since childhood. Three husbands, who have all made big mistakes. When a weekend away gets the girls to finally be honest with each other, we get this fantastic page turner…

“The Bitches” haven’t seen each other in three years, though they text and FaceTime constantly. All three women have things in their marriages that they haven’t even confessed to their best friends: Lisa is married to the abusive Simon, Penny is married to the cheating Drake, and Holly is married to the lazy, thieving Will - and these are the LEAST of the things these men have done. I’ll let those who read it find out the rest of their sins, but let’s just say, you may want to kill them too!

When Penny invites her friends to her house for a weekend and the alcohol starts pouring, a deviously delicious plan is hatched - they need to kill their horrible husbands. This book had me hooked from page one, but when the planning started, I couldn’t stop reading until the ending that had me laughing and pumping my fist. Told from the points of view of the three women, this book seamlessly works its way through events of the past, as well as what is happening in the present.

I haven’t read a book this suspenseful in quite a long time - the bonus is that this book is also darkly humorous, filled with great characters, and gets emotional at times. It’s not easy to put all of those facets into a book, as well as have so many stories happening at the same time, and not have everything come out convoluted, but the author did it. There was no way I could put this one down until it was over, and because it’s so enthralling, it was a very quick read. Five stars!

This book was amazing, I loved it! I managed to read it in one sitting, it was more emotional than I thought it would be and does deal with situations that may be difficult to read so might not be for everyone

This was juicy, messy, and way more emotional than I expected — in the best way possible. Horrible Husbands is a darkly addictive story about three lifelong best friends who’ve hit their breaking points, and it had me flipping pages faster than I planned. It’s equal parts thriller, revenge fantasy, and a fierce love letter to female friendship.

The setup is simple but genius: a girls’ weekend filled with booze, secrets, and the rising realization that their awful husbands might not deserve another second of mercy. What starts as a slightly wine-soaked joke spirals into something more sinister, and watching it all unfold was so fun (and stressful) to read. Each character felt distinct and layered, especially the narrator’s story — her relationship with Simon was gut-wrenching and handled with a lot of emotional weight.

Is it a little over-the-top? Yes. Did I enjoy every dramatic twist and morally gray moment anyway? Also yes.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. Perfect for fans of domestic suspense with a sharp edge and a lot of heart — think Big Little Lies, but with more blood and fewer secrets left buried.

This absolutely a popcorn read. It also may be a tough read for some folks as it deals with some pretty awful situations.

Our husbands are horrible. So, though, are our wives. I did not like them! Didn't stop me from reading, though.

The book is definitely entertaining.

I will say that one big reveal wasn't a surprise at all. It was a horrifying thing to be sure, but the only shock was that the character it was about was shocked. I mean hugely obvious.

All in all, a good read.

Very addicting. I think this was a grown up version of “rhymes with witches” the characters are devious. Very fast paced and an actual thriller! Definitely what I needed

Horrible Husbands is a good read. It brings together three women, who have been friends for a long time and are catching up. Gradually they reveal to each other that they are each in a toxic relationship. Death ensues.

While I enjoyed reading it, Horrible Husbands seemed to be on the fence as to whether this was humour with a touch of farce, or a serious novel about manipulative control and domestic violence. As a reader, I was on the fence between enjoying the ride and weeping.

That said, there's a lot to like about this thriller (euh, if you're a woman, I suppose), despite a few flaws in emotional pitch. It's pretty gripping.

My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for giving me a free copy of this book. All my reviews are 100% honest and unbiased, regardless of how I acquire the book.

This book was a fast paced and truly gripping story regarding 3 friends who have all found themselves married to horrible husbands and they conspire a plan to have them all killed. All the while, there are more sinister secrets being revealed as time goes on. I was on the edge of my seat - flipping pages faster than my finger could keep up with. I had to know that it would end well to 'the bitches'. After all, friends would die for each other but best friends would kill for each other. I absolutely love Jessica Huntley's style of writing and I always love a story based in the UK. Looking forward to reading many more books from this author in the future!!

Horrible Husbands was a fun and twisted thriller, full of suspense, drama, mystery, secrets, and betrayal.

It started off really well. I was hooked from the first chapter. Lisa, Holly, and Penny were all interesting, charismatic, and complex characters. They were also very likable and relatable too.

This is the third book I've read by Jessica Huntley, and I've enjoyed all of her books so far.

The twists were crazy good. I didn't see them coming.
Overall, it's a great thriller. I definitely recommend it.

4 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was entertaining enough, but had a few glitches. The ending didn't fit in very well with the rest of the story, it was implausible and seemed a bit rushed, almost as if the author hadn't decided on a conclusion and quickly came up with something. A bit over the top for me.

Jessica Huntley's Horrible Husbands is a compelling exploration of modern relationships, focusing on the intricacies of marriage and the challenges many couples face. With a sharp wit and keen observational skills, Huntley delves into the dynamics that can make or break a partnership, particularly highlighting the behaviors and attitudes that can lead to frustrations and disconnect.

Firstly love the premise and the setup. The characters are interesting and introduced quickly to get started with the action which I loved. The action starts from the beginning which works brilliantly for a thriller.

Loved the plans to kill the husbands and feeling of sisterhood. A fun thriller with an interesting premise.

Wow this was a thriller! First off - check trigger warnings. Literally every possible trigger is in this book. That surprised me because Jessica Huntley's other books I've read were not like that. That being said, three best friends Holly, Lisa, and Penny did have some horrible husbands! This book follows the lives of Lisa, Penny, and Holly and all of the things they're going through. They meet for a girls weekend and decide the only way to survive is to kill their husbands. There are no shortages of twists and turns in this book. I did enjoy it. Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this ARC.

This didn't work for me. The idea of 3 women trying to kill their awful husbands is pretty far fetched. That would be fine if there was some humour to it but it was all a bit serious.
There were a few twists but they were so clearly flagged that they weren't a surprise.

Huh. I knew this was going to be a far-fetched, escapist fantasy about women getting rid of their horrible husbands (which I’m 100% into!), but it went sideways and was too over the top for me. I love some bloody vengeance, and I was hoping for a Sweetpea-style situation here, but this read more like Freida McFadden and the Scooby gang wrote this after hotboxing in the Mystery Machine.

I’m clearly an outlier here, so don’t let me dissuade you from picking it up - I have apparently become particular about my revenge fantasies. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wasn’t sure about this one, but other than moving back and forth between the three main characters and their individual stories (not crazy about that), it was an interesting story. The three characters, long-time friends, are Holly, Penny and Lisa. One is being physically abused by her husband, but covers up the abuse. One is a mother of twins who has concerns about her husband and what he may be up to. The third woman is a personal trainer who may have a darker side to her with which her friends are unaware. When they gather for a weekend at one of the woman’s homes, they finally share the problems they are each having with their husbands. The decision is made…the only way to solve their problems is to get rid of their horrible husbands. The various twists, to the story, continued until the surprising end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

A group of friends gather for a girl's weekend. After a few drinks, it comes out that everyone is hiding secrets about their husbands. But they can't be that bad. Right? You'll have to read to find out.

I really like this book!

Jessica Huntley delivers a gripping thriller that had my heart racing from start to finish. This fast-paced, twist-filled novel keeps readers on edge with its unpredictable plot and clever storytelling.

Penny, Holly, and Lisa have been inseparable since childhood, believing they shared everything—until Lisa’s devastating secret about her husband, Simon, is revealed. He’s been abusing her, but she’s not the only one hiding the truth. During their weekend getaway, Penny and Holly’s secrets surface as well, leading the trio to a shocking decision: to take justice into their own hands. What follows is a gripping, tension-filled journey packed with unexpected twists, moral dilemmas, and a darkness that tests the limits of their friendship.

The multiple POVs and timeline shifts enhance the narrative, offering deeper insight into the characters and their choices. Huntley’s writing is sharp and immersive, making this an addictive, binge-worthy read. Despite the dark themes, there are moments of humor that balance the intensity. The open-ended conclusion leaves room for interpretation, making the final twist even more satisfying.

If you love thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last page, Horrible Husbands is a must-read.

While away on a girl's weekend, three friends share secrets about their husbands' unsavory behavior that has them taking karma into their own hands. Can they get away with not only one, but three murders? Fast paced, twisty and hilarious.
