Digging Dr Jones by Olivia Jackson was a fun little adventure that gave me total Indiana Jones vibes, minus the giant boulders rolling after you 🤣
I rated it 3.5 stars, it had all the ingredients I love in a fun romance, archaeology, treasure-hunting twists, and a charmingly chaotic romance. While some parts felt a wee bit over the top and predictable, I still had a good time tagging along for the ride.
If you fancy a light, adventurous romance with a sprinkle of Indy-style escapades, this one’s worth a go!

Digging Dr. Jones by Olivia Jackson is the perfect escape for a mom who’s spent the day chasing a toddler and just needs something that isn’t sticky fingers or snack negotiations. This spicy, fast-paced adventure rom-com follows Adriana Jones, a woman just trying to enjoy her vacation when she ends up with a stunning gold bracelet stuck on her wrist. The problem? It was meant for Dr. Andrew Jones, a rugged archaeologist who needs it to unlock a centuries-old treasure hidden deep in the Colombian jungle. What follows is a heart-pounding journey through ancient ruins, hidden clues, rival treasure hunters, and just enough danger to make your living room feel like a world away.
But let’s be honest I am here for the romance, and this one delivers. Think forced proximity, opposites attract, and that slow-burn tension that makes you stay up way past your bedtime (even though you know your kid will be up at 5 AM). Adriana’s messy charm crashes headfirst into Andrew’s grumpy logic, and their chemistry practically sizzles off the page. With just the right balance of humor, heat, and high-stakes adventure, Digging Dr. Jones is a thrilling, flirty escape that’ll make you forget about laundry piles and Paw Patrol at least for a few delicious chapters.

Digging Dr. Jones is a light and entertaining read with plenty of charm. Olivia Jackson blends romance, humor, and a touch of adventure into a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The premise is fun, and there are moments of witty banter and clever twists that keep the pages turning.
That said, the novel feels uneven at times. The plot occasionally meanders, and some of the character development feels surface-level rather than deeply explored. While the story has energy, it doesn’t quite sustain the momentum needed to make it a standout. Readers looking for depth or complexity may find it a bit underwhelming.
Overall, Digging Dr. Jones is a pleasant, middle-of-the-road novel—enjoyable enough to pass the time but not especially memorable once finished. Fans of lighthearted contemporary fiction may appreciate it, but it’s not likely to leave a lasting impression.

Digging Dr. Jones was an absolute delight from start to finish. I loved the mix of adventure, humor, and chemistry between the characters—it felt fresh and effortlessly fun. The story had just the right balance of excitement and heart, and I found myself completely invested in both the romance and the escapades. Every twist kept me turning the pages, and I couldn’t help but smile throughout. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable, captivating read that I’d recommend to anyone looking for a clever, adventurous romance.

I really enjoyed the premise and I had my expectations in regards to this book, but for me the miscommunication elements don't work if not with depth. I struggled to really connect to the heroine. The writing was okay, but i wanted something a little more sadly. not to mention that the opposition almost had a twirling moustache....

This was a fun read! Lots of banter and you could really feel the chemistry between the MCs. I did feel like the pacing was off but overall enjoyed the story.

I LOVED this book and the audiobook was perfect! Witty, heartfelt, and brimming with irresistible chemistry, Digging Dr. Jones is the perfect blend of adventure and romance. Olivia Jackson delivers a story as sharp as it is swoony—I devoured every page!

Such a fun read! I loved the whole Indiana Jones vibe this story had! I found the main characters very enjoyable

Adriana Jones thinks she has hit rock bottom in order to improve her life she goes on vacation with her brother a kind of last hurrah before getting serious about figuring out what steps she needs to take next. A gift is delivered to her room that she thinks is meant for her, a beautiful, interesting, gem bracelet. It turns out not to be for her Adriana Jones but for Andrew Jones. It isn't a gift but an artifact that archeologist Andrew Jones needs to unlock an ancient treasure! of course, it is now stuck on her wrist and Adriana must travel with her brother in tow through Colombia in search of ancient lost treasure. A super fun treasure hunting romance and an absolutely perfect beach read!

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read for me. I love this combination of trope and that didn’t disappoint! The archeology vibes were spot on and felt very thoroughly researched and accurately represented - I’m no expert but to someone who enjoys the genre casually it was definitely well done. The enemies to lovers vibes were well done in the beginning, but the chemistry between them got a little monotonous in the middle, it felt a bit too comfortable and not that new relationship sexual tension for many key moments. I will say that date was what dreams are made of! I am hoping for a sequel or an additional interconnected standalone for Andrew and Adriana!

This book was so much fun!! I had such a great time reading it! If you’re a fan of The Mummy or National Treasure you need to check this out! 4.5/5 stars

3.5 stars
I really enjoyed this story, it was a really cool Indiana Jones, summery vibe. Everything seemed to move the plot forwards HOWEVER, the plot was fairly convoluted at times, and some of the conflict felt a little shoehorned in.

Genuinely this book has such an interesting and entertaining premise, and I was really excited to read it!
The adventure and discovery storyline was really enjoyable, I was having a fun time for so much of this book.
Where it fell short to me - the relationship conflict I felt was not enjoyable as a reader - the decisions the FMC makes for the ‘conflict’ part of the storyline were not believable (to me) and felt underdeveloped. Adriana makes a seemingly random spur of the moment decision and it completely takes away from all of the relationship building for the previous 80%.
Frustrating at times, but overall a very lighthearted and a little silly read that a lot of people will enjoy but personally was not my favourite.

This could have been so good! I liked most of it but the FMC was genuinely annoying at times. I think some of it can be forgiven by past trauma, but it felt over the top.
The FMC and her brothers relationship seems unlikely, but that might just be my family dynamics judging that.
Everything felt a little bit unbelievable however I do think this book should find it's audience.
I would recommend it to people to read when on holiday if they are looking for a holiday Romcom with some adventures!

As an archaeologist I was so keen on this book! It started off good, however the conflict at the end took away from the story for me

"Digging Dr. Jones" is an absolute delight! Olivia Jackson delivers a charming, witty, and heartfelt story that had me smiling from start to finish. With its lovable characters, clever dialogue, and just the right amount of romantic tension, this book is the perfect escape. A must-read for fans of cozy romance and smart heroines—I adored every page!

digging dr jones is a very fast paced, slightly cringy romcom and a fantastic way to pass a few hours.
from the moment I picked this book up, I was hooked. I really loved everything about it. it’s super fast paced, which is great because it was just what I needed.
the romance was really enjoyable, but it was very much insta love (which I normally don’t like, but didn’t mind in this book). it was also fairly cringy but I found it charming and fun. sometimes you need a good cringe.
the conflict towards the end of the book was really weird and a bit of a let down, but I was having a lot of fun reading this that it didn’t bother me too much.
if you’re looking for something fun and engaging, I highly recommend digging dr jones. it was such a good way to pass the time.

This was a promising and fun read but it unfortunately wasn’t for me. I struggled with connecting to the story and the humour and romance elements felt a little flat as a result. The third act conflict was also not for me - it didn’t really make sense.

This gave national treasure vibes and was a fun read but I just didn’t love it, I found the relationship between the brother and sister odd and heavily leaned on, and just didn’t vibe with the FMC, I didn’t really enjoy the miscommunication happening, a DNF for me :(

Such a fun, adventurous romance! The tension was amazing and the spicy scenes were great. It was a little slow in the beginning but once it started to pick up it was great!
