As an archaeologist I was so keen on this book! It started off good, however the conflict at the end took away from the story for me

"Digging Dr. Jones" is an absolute delight! Olivia Jackson delivers a charming, witty, and heartfelt story that had me smiling from start to finish. With its lovable characters, clever dialogue, and just the right amount of romantic tension, this book is the perfect escape. A must-read for fans of cozy romance and smart heroines—I adored every page!

digging dr jones is a very fast paced, slightly cringy romcom and a fantastic way to pass a few hours.
from the moment I picked this book up, I was hooked. I really loved everything about it. it’s super fast paced, which is great because it was just what I needed.
the romance was really enjoyable, but it was very much insta love (which I normally don’t like, but didn’t mind in this book). it was also fairly cringy but I found it charming and fun. sometimes you need a good cringe.
the conflict towards the end of the book was really weird and a bit of a let down, but I was having a lot of fun reading this that it didn’t bother me too much.
if you’re looking for something fun and engaging, I highly recommend digging dr jones. it was such a good way to pass the time.

This was a promising and fun read but it unfortunately wasn’t for me. I struggled with connecting to the story and the humour and romance elements felt a little flat as a result. The third act conflict was also not for me - it didn’t really make sense.

This gave national treasure vibes and was a fun read but I just didn’t love it, I found the relationship between the brother and sister odd and heavily leaned on, and just didn’t vibe with the FMC, I didn’t really enjoy the miscommunication happening, a DNF for me :(

Such a fun, adventurous romance! The tension was amazing and the spicy scenes were great. It was a little slow in the beginning but once it started to pick up it was great!

I loved the concept behind this book, and the adventure was a really fun romp, but it did take me quite a while to warm up to the characters and feel invested in them. I felt like there was a lot of telling rather than showing especially in the early chapters, but I did enjoy the adventure and thought the climax of the book was very good fun!

I loved reading this book! It was slightly slow to hook me but once it did I couldn't put it down! I lovwed not only the romance between the main characters but also getting the explore all of the archeological sites and unravel the mysteries. definitely recommend this book!

Digging Dr. Jones is pure adventure-romance gold—a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud thrill ride that delivers heart, heat, and humor in equal measure. From the moment Adriana accidentally locks an ancient bracelet onto her wrist, she’s catapulted into a wild, high-stakes treasure hunt across the Colombian jungle—with the enigmatic (and maddeningly attractive) Dr. Andrew Jones as her reluctant guide.
What starts as a simple vacation in Costa Rica quickly becomes a globe-trotting escapade full of cryptic riddles, ancient ruins, and dangerous rivals. The action is cinematic and immersive, with jungle landscapes so vivid you can practically feel the humidity and hear the buzz of wildlife. But it’s the crackling chemistry between Adriana and Andrew that steals the show.
Their dynamic is pure romcom magic—Adriana’s witty, impulsive charm clashing hilariously with Andrew’s gruff, laser-focused intensity. The banter is sharp, the romantic tension is deliciously slow-burning (with some steamy open-door moments), and watching their relationship evolve under pressure is every bit as satisfying as solving the book’s central mystery.
Olivia Jackson strikes a perfect balance between high-energy adventure and emotional depth, with characters who feel real and layered even amid the chaos. Adriana’s journey from reluctant tourist to bold, puzzle-solving heroine is especially fun to follow. And while the Indiana Jones influence is clear, the book never feels like a copy—it’s a fresh, modern spin on classic treasure-hunting tales with a strong romantic core.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Light, flirty, and easy to read
Digging Dr. Jones by Olivia Jackson is a fun, low-stakes romance with a bit of adventure mixed in. The chemistry between the main characters is playful, and the story moves at a steady pace. It’s an easy read with some sweet moments and light humor.
While it didn’t completely blow me away, it was enjoyable enough for a casual weekend read. Great for fans of flirty romance who like a touch of escapism without anything too heavy.

Adriana puts on a bracelet that gets stuck, but little does she know, it’s the key to a long lost treasure. Dr. Andrew Jones needs the bracelet to uncover the ancient treasure, so instead of scrapping the trip, he decides to bring her along to the jungle. What follows is a swoony, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine adventure.
It was a fun and quick read that I enjoyed so much. I loved seeing them open up and be so in touch with their emotions. The story was lighthearted, cute, and filled with adventure, definitely a great pick for anyone looking for a feel good read!

I was super excited for this book and the premises of it. And on some level it did deliver with the action, a unique plot and the romance. There were definitely good characters that were multilayered on most parts, however, I just couldn't get on bord with the relationship between different characters. I dont know why but the relationship between the brother and the main character just slightly annoyed and confused me. They definitely felt more like friends than siblings.
It did feel like an insta plot, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but just not really my cup of tea. All in all it was a fun read and i had a fun time reading it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy! All thoughts are my own. Due to my review being less than 4 stars I did not post it on Amazon.

Digging Dr. Jones by Olivia Jackson is a witty, romance-filled archaeological romp with just the right amount of heart and heat. The chemistry between the leads crackles from the start, and the banter had me smiling throughout. Jackson’s writing is sharp and engaging, blending adventure, romance, and a hint of mystery perfectly. While I would’ve loved a bit more depth in certain plot points, the charm of the characters and the unique setting more than made up for it. A great pick for fans of romantic escapades with a smart, sassy edge!

this book started so promising with a unique plot and interesting characters. i loved seeing the discovering part of the book and characters getting together. at some point chemistry was also pretty good. but that was it. even with good characters, some relationships were weird and confusing to me. main character and her brother were pretty closed together, at some point i forgot they were related. they were openly talking about sex in details. maybe it is normal to some siblings but it was awkward.
the conflict at 80% was horrible and the stupidest thing i’ve read. she actually liked, even loved him and out of nowhere she goes “your people won’t understand me”. there was no leading thoughts to this moment and nothing pointing to her thinking this before now. also, he’s not that different and why would you care what others thing about your relationship. for some reason it really irritated me because the plot was going so well.

Unfortunately just could not get into this book. I gave it a couple of tries but could not get more than I few chapters in.
The writing was fine and there wasn't anything inherently bad about the book it just wasn't for me.

This could be great as a movie. I totally see it : a Destination romcom with lots of banter and fun. It's also a bit spicy. There were a lot of descriptions, a bit too much for me to read but as a movie it could be awesome. Characters were also super interesting and the plot was original. Just not my type of writing style

loved this romance of mixed up names and a bracelet . loved the romance and traveling to the different places. loved her brother

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. This was a great romance read. Loved the writing style.

If you're a fan of Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lost City, King Solomon's Mines, then you'll appreciate this plot. Treasure hunting with a side of romance. Clue delivered to the wrong person, meeting a wildly handsome archeologist, getting drawn into the scheme; it's all a setup for a good story.
This is not the first time recently I've run across a female lead character that's mostly unlikeable. I like witty banter and enemies to friends trope but this fell flat. Adriana’ had a sarcastic tone for most of the book. Andrew has the patience of a saint and takes it with a smile; how unbelievable. Their attraction was instant and they had a rocking sex life but romance was in short supply. To me the most likeable character was William the gay brother. He was fun, fearless, thoughtful, romantic; he could have been the lead love interest.
For me the plot was a little sluggish and could have used more obstacles in the way, chase scene running from the bad guy. If romance isn't the point then the adventure needs to be upped. The ending is left such that it could become a series of Dr. Jones books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A fun and flirty adventure with plenty of laughs and spice. The jungle setting and treasure hunt gave it a fresh twist, and the chemistry between Adriana and Andrew was entertaining. That said, the plot was a bit over-the-top at times, and some moments felt more silly than swoony. Light, escapist fun – just not quite a favourite.
