I love an adventure romance, and I desperately wanted to love this one. There were elements that I did enjoy. the treasure hunt in particular and Adriana finding her skill in helping uncover clues. For whatever reason though, I had a hard time feeling a connection to the romance side of things.

The setup was fun with Adriana receiving the bracelet meant for Andrew as a piece of the hunt he was on, and its role in forcing proximity between the two of them was a unique plot device that I enjoyed. I think I struggled to feel the chemistry between them because Adriana was consistently discounting her worth because of a history she had no control over rather than what she had achieved despite her rough start. She was vocal, internally and out loud, about their incompatibility and I didn’t feel enough from Andrew until later in the book to change her mind.

The adventure part of the book was exciting and interesting for me though. It kept me entertained and wondering what they would find next. I was also entertained by William and how he would inadvertently involve himself or disrupt the journey next. I loved the sibling relationship between he and Adriana as well.

I would definitely ready another Olivia Jackson book in the future based on her debut. I believe her writing has a lot of potential. Thank you to One More Chapter via NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

2⭐️ | Thank you NetGalley, Harper Collins UK and One More Chapter for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

When I first came across this book and read the description, I was ecstatic. It was giving The Mummy vibes and sounded refreshingly different from a lot of recent releases.

I really tried to love this book—the plot and the bones were there—but it felt juvenile. It came off like a cringey mix of a YA novel with hints of smut that didn’t quite land. Some scenes felt unnecessarily sexual, and then there was that line: “In my ribcage, someone released butterflies that were high on c*caine.” What the heck was that? High on what?

I never truly felt the two main characters got to know each other beyond trauma dumping. The FMC was whiny, and her brother’s presence felt forced, in my opinion.

This gets two stars solely because I liked the cover and the concept. Someone out there might enjoy this, but it just wasn’t for me—between the lack of character development, juvenile writing, and poor understanding of archaeology, I couldn’t connect with it.

This was such a nice read - there was the perfect amount going on that you were never bored as you read, but not overwhelmed with too much. I found it the perfect book to dip in and out of while on a trip.

The characters had enough depth and all provided such good additions to the plot - no-one felt like they were there just for the sake of it.
The chemistry between Adriana and Andrew was so well done - the perfect amount of tension into flirting was done well on the backdrop of their adventure. William was by far my favourite character!

Would recommend!

A cute adventure rom com that was decent. I wasn't really connecting with either the FMC or MMC. However I liked the adventure aspect of it.

I really enjoyed this fun adventure romcom! It's like the Lost city, but with fewer crude jokes and more spice :) Obviously don't expect realism here: archeology in this book is illegally breaking into the church tombs and tracking through the jungle, while avoiding mafiosi henchmen. However, this is exactly what you would expect from a Hollywood film, and that's what this reads like. Highly recommend as a fun summer/holiday read.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc of Digging Dr Jones by Olivia Jackson! I was so excited to read this book. The cover is pretty and it sounded so cute, like an Indiana Jones love story. In this book, Andrew is an archeologist who needs a bracelet to open a treasure chest. Unfortunately Adriana is wearing the bracelet and it’s stuck so she’s forced to join Andrew on a quest for the treasure chest. This story started out great but I quickly lost interest. Andrew and Adriana have no chemistry and her brother is very annoying. However, I did like their adventure and found many parts unrealistic but entertaining. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting a quick, fun summer read.

Grab your fedora and your whip (...okay you don't need a whip) for this one! This literally refueled all my nerdy adventurous love for all the Indiana Jones and the Mummy movies while simultaneously giving me all the banter, passion, and romcom feels that I love! I had high hopes for this one from the description, and I am so happy to report that this took me on the romantic thrill ride that I wanted. With hilariously loveable characters, LOL moments, suspenseful treasure-hunting treks through the Colombian jungle, and swoon worthy romance with spice, this had everything and I literally lost sleep as it is unputdownable! Definitely add this one to your TBR!! Thank you so much to Olivia Jackson, One More Chapter, & NetGalley for the opportunity to review this e-ARC. This was easily a 5-star read for me & will definitely not be my last Olivia Jackson read!

Very cute cover and premises sounded really fun. Was expecting Indiana Jones meets National Treasure meets rom com but sadly this fell a bit flat for me. Writing did not pull me in and I did not really care much about either of our leads. Not for me but others might like it more.

Sorry had to DNF this one. The premise sounded really good and I was looking forward to a treasure hunt type adventure with romance. However the execution was not for me. Immediately put off when out mfc refused to hand back an item which was mistakenly delivered to her unless she was paid? MMC was doing absolutely nothing for me either which meant I was not invested in them at all.

A funny and flirtatious adventure story - a very refreshing read!! This book gave me the vibes of The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and the adventurous nature of Uncharted!

I enjoyed the comical elements of this book it was very light hearted and fun. This romance included forced proximity and slow burn tropes which I know is hugely popular😁

My favourite part of the book was the bond between brother and sister - it was my favourite duo😍 I personally didn’t get bogged down in all the archaeology technical terms, I just enjoyed being along for the ride!!😂 A little predictable at times but I find that quite warming about romance books.

Such light hearted fun! Thank you for the ARC opportunity🤗

First of all huge thank you to HarperCollins UK-One More Chapter and Netgalley for allowing me to read this early!
If you love Indiana Jones, The Mummy, or The Lost City, this is the book for you. I'm not a huge straight romance reader, but this book was just a great vibe for me! I loved the cute little pop culture relevant remarks in this book, and I loved our super green flag, MMC.
Let's take a second to address the cons. I was not a huge fan of the constant "I'm poor, you're rich" troupe or the super stereotypical guy brother. Both were a bit much for me. However, I still enjoyed this book. There were times when the romance was really romancing for me, and times where I found myself absolutely cackling outloud!
This book may not be a super strong choice for everyone, but I definitely found it to be an enjoyable read that, once I got going, I didn't want to put down!
Do yourself a favor and check out this sassy little adventure on May 2, 2025!

Thanks to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the eARC. Adriana and her brother are on vacation when a package gets delivered to the wrong room. This package gets Adriana thrown together with Dr. Jones an archeologist who is looking for treasure. An adventure that was interesting at times but others times it dragged and I got a little bored. Cute romance but some of it was cringy at times. Okay story but not one I would read again.

Talk about a wild ride!

From start to finish this story had me on the edge of my seat. Adriana Jones and Andrew Jones (no relation, thank goodness *wink wink*) find themselves, alongside Adriana’s brother William and a few other memorable characters, on a Mummy a la Brendan Fraser/Rachel Weisz meets Indiana Jones escapade in the South American jungle. It’s a meet cute of epic proportions and enough of a sizzle to start that keeps this medium burn moving at a delicious pace.

Seriously this book gave me such good vibes from the excerpt and kept that going as I read the book in its entirety.

A fantastic debut for this author and I can’t wait to see what everyone else’s thoughts are!

I really enjoyed Digging Dr. Jones by Olivia Jackson. I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable, bright, and bubbly read, with something for every reader to enjoy. The plot follows Dr. Andrew Jones, an archaeologist, and the female lead, Adriana, as they embark on an exciting adventure through Colombia in search of hidden treasure. The pacing was fast, and the story was filled with great storytelling and thrilling scenes. The author’s upbeat, modern writing style made it easy to devour the book in one or two sittings.
The storytelling was engaging and easy to follow, filled with rich detail. The characters were very likeable—Dr. Jones was sexy, mysterious, and exuded an air of authority, while Adriana was bright, adventurous, and adorable. I loved the banter and connection between these two characters and thought they had great chemistry. As the story progressed, more elements were added, filling the book with suspense and a captivating sense of mystery. From the start, I could tell this was going to be a great read, and I was very happy to have had the opportunity to enjoy it. Four Stars from @brydzandherbooks. Thank you to Netgallery, the author and the publisher for granting me this opportunity to read this book.

An Indiana Jones rom-com! This adventure romance/comedy is a must read. The story is fun, fast-paced and full of action and adventure. The romance is top-tier, full of banter, spice and more. I'm excited to read more by this author.

I was super excited to receive an ARC for this book because the premise seemed like such a fun idea. But I found that the actual treasure hunting aspect of it felt both rushed and drawn out. The romance between Andrew and Adriana was such a slow burn in the beginning, but once that line was crossed boy was it crossed. The spicy scenes were top notch in this book and I loved the hilarity of having the bad guys name being Richard Head (dick head) and it made me chuckle every time. I really enjoyed this book and found the actual treasure hunting aspect to be very thought out and the world building was amazing. I would absolutely read another book about the Viking treasure hunt that they went on. This book was a really good light hearted read.

I have never read a book like this! It is so unique and fun!
I love the idea of an Indiana Jones/Fools Gold type of book! It was so fun going along with Andrew and Adriana's journey! There's spice, wit, treasure hunting, and so much excitement! Everything flowed so wonderfully, and I really love the characters. They are so opposite, but go together so well. I love the relationship that both MCs have with their siblings and that they're so involved in their lives. This book kept me on my toes, wondering what was next! So good and highly recommend! This isn't just another rom com, it's an adventure that was so fun to go on! I love unique books like this, especially when they are as good as this one!

I do think this book caught the spirit of Indiana Jones. It's definitely got the puzzle solving, "archaeology" adventure aspect going for it. And it's a medium/fast paced story with the adventure starting pretty quickly and the bad guys always right behind them. I loved the adventure, the puzzle solving, and the relationship between Adriana and Andrew. There were even a few quips that had me giggling. Spice is open door, and explicit.

Personally, the story started to drag for me with the characters of Adriana and William. William, Adriana's brother that talked her into going with Dr. Jones, wanted to go on the treasure hunt, but complained or stayed behind most of the time. Though Adriana stopped complaining pretty early and got on board with the adventure, she spent a lot of time telling herself Dr. Jones is off-limits or giving reasons why they wouldn't work as a couple (like, right up until the end). Add to this the fact that the dermatologist and wine connoisseur were figuring out the clues before, and pointing things out to, the archeologist? That was probably the most unbelievable part of this story for me, sorry.

Well, I’m always up for an adventure romance—and this one didn’t disappoint! The story swept me up from the start and had just the right mix of action, romance, and mystery to keep me hooked.

Sure, some archaeologists might raise an eyebrow at the liberties taken with the facts, but honestly? Who cares—this is fiction! And it’s a fun ride.

I absolutely loved the characters, especially her brother. He’s the kind of loyal, supportive, hilarious best friend we all wish we had in our lives. Their bond added so much warmth and humor to the story.

Overall, it’s a solid 4 from me. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, heart-racing romance with a side of adventure, give this one a go!

At the start, I was really enjoying this book! Good old fashioned escapism and such a fun concept, but ultimately it wasn't for me. The progression between the FMC and MMC felt super unrealistic, and the way she sexualized him from the very start was so weird??? (and I am NOT a spice hater whatsoever, but the specific comments were just uncomfy). The overall pacing felt bizarre, and the plot really lost me after 50%. Probably for some, just not for me! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eArc!
