I’ve read one other book by the author and enjoyed it. I had to look into my review to remind myself and it turned out I was so secretive about the revelations that I couldn’t figure out what actually happened. It’s been four years so maybe I need to find the book again!
By the time I got to the end of the book it felt like one from another author who writes her books based on Ireland. There are several so only me and others who see the resemblance ( in the best possible way) will know what I am talking about.
We begin with young Eileen who has had a turbulent relationship with her mother. This as much as her love of books drives her to her first book related job, in a bookstore. This is when she feels the first stirring of romance. A long lost friend turns up in her life confusing her a little bit. This happens several times during the course of Eileen’s life. We know she is going to be happy because of how the story started, but several times she has to think both practically as much as with her heart.
I think it was that last part that made me enjoy the book. On the one hand we have a decision that makes sense on paper and another more ambitious one. People are not always what they seem, and how the relationships change over time forms the centre of the narrative.
Overall over the decades we see the changes in one person and the world around her. It is definitely a book I would recommend to fans of the genre.
I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this Arc. I really enjoyed reading Moving On, it was so captivating that I couldn't put it down! I feel that this book is well paced in a way that is easy and yet highly enjoyable to read, I found the main character, Ellen to be quite relatable in many aspects and I found her strength and determination admirable.

I always look forward to a new Roisin Meaney book. This did not disappoint. I loved all the characters, some more than others. The chapters about Ellen's time in London brought back many memories of my time there. Loved, loved it.

Sadly, this didn't work for me. I really wanted to get into Ellie's story, but I found myself slogging through for most of it. I also never warmed to Claire as a character, and found all her actions (particularly to someone she had lauded as her "best friend") completely underhand.
This just wasn't the book for me.

Nice, easy read. I didn't like how the FMC felt that she needed a man to define her, but overall it was an enjoyable, well-written read. Looking forward to whatever Roisin Meaney releases next.

I received this book as an Arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! In this book we are following the story of Ellen Sheehan over the years of her life. I enjoyed how you felt you were going through life with our main character and it showed how good/shitty it can be at times. We see her go through friendships, heartbreaks, family loss. It felt like a very realistic way of telling the story of someone’s life! The only reason this book wasn’t a five star for me because it felt quite dragged out towards the end and I wish the ending storyline was introduced a bit earlier but other than that it was an absolute beautiful story!

I've been a long time fan of Roisin Meaney's books; they are an autobuy for me. And I'm pleased to say that this one is my favourite yet. It, like all her others, is a gorgeously warm and thoroughly comforting read.
I was engaged with Ellen's story right from the start and loved seeing as she grew in strength throughout the years, from her teens to her fifties. I particularly loved her relationship with her formidable Aunt Frances and the booklover theme throughout.
The novel is written in sections correlating to her various house moves over the years and I really enjoyed this format; it was like going on lots of adventures with Ellen. There was love, loss, friendship and heartbreak but overall a gorgeous sense of hope and joy.
A triumph of a book, that is absolutely perfect to cosy up with when you need a big comforting hug of a book

Ellen’s heart is torn between a bookseller, a banker, and her childhood bestie, while she’s chasing her dreams from Galway to London. A heartwarming journey of love, timing, and finding where you truly belong.

Roisin is such a lovely story-teller - I love the Irish relationships that she covers and often I can imagine her characters would be my kind of friend! I feel she writes about real people with all the positive and negatives traits we all have. I am looking forward to the next book.

I loved this story. I'm a big fan of the author but I think this could be my favourite of hers. It has great depth and is a beautiful look at life and love and friendships. The narrative style is wistful at times as years roll by, which is really moving. I love the characters, though I think perhaps Frances is my favourite. Danny a close second. But all are fully alive and colourful and believable, even ones with very small roles. The story is wonderful, sad at times, and the reader often knows what's happening before the MC does, which adds tension, but it's also warm and lovely. A must read.

A beautiful story, a beautiful setting and some wonderful characters! What’s not to love! This was the perfect cosy read that I devoured in one weekend. A must read for anyone who loves a cosy feel good read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC

this book moving on by roisin Meaney was a sunning, emotional rollercoster that had me completely hooked. Ellens journey from her small hometown in Galway to the bustling streets of three men she meets along her way. ben, the sweet bookseller, Danny her childhood friend, and Leo the charming banker- each offer a unique twist to her path, making her journey all the more complicated and real.
things I adored about this book is how it spans years, showing not just Ellens evolving relationships, but her growth as a person. it was such a beautiful, honest reflection of how life and love dont always go according to plan, but how resilience and hope keep us moving forward.
this book, moving on had me laughing, crying and rooting for Ellen every step of the way. one of my new favourite books. I would highly recommend this to my audience.

Rousin Meaney always writes the most gorgeous books and this surrounded not disappoint. I loved being taken away to the gorgeous Irish setting and the various love stories being woven in. Especially knowing no matter where the world takes you matter of the home and heart seats remain.
