What a beautiful follow up to the first book! The illustrations are even more beautiful, with the addition of Christmas colors and cheer. The story is full of love and hope, and readers will gain a sense of nostalgia as they think of the first time they had their own Christmas tree. I will absolutely recommend this to readers- the same sense of being yourself, staying true to who you are, and being brave to try something new will resonate with everyone who loved the first book.

Another simply adorable story about the little ghost who was a quilt. It has the same charming illustration style with so many details in the artwork. It’s such a sweet story about making others happy and bringing some beauty to the world.

I love the crossover of spooky-cute ghosts and wintery holiday fun, Christmas trees, and decor. The little ghost is such a lovable character, I hope there will be more in this series, it will be a wonderful addition to my little free library!

Thank you again, Riel Nason, Penguin Random House, and Net Galley for this sweet story.

The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise is an adorable sequel to "The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt." In the story, Little Ghost is able to fly around in the snow, enjoying the elements of the winter, but he misses his friends. Since they're all sheets, they would get too cold and might freeze outside! While thinking of ways to enjoy the change in season with his friends, the little ghost quilt happens upon a human celebration with lights and trees! He decides to find a way to bring the celebration to his friends!

Though I will always have a soft spot for the original Little Ghost Quilt story, this was a fun, seasonal addition to the lore. The pictures and the story are great for talking to kids about how differences can bring people together, especially during times of celebration.

Thank you to Netgalley and Tundra Books for a copy of this sweet book in exchange for an honest review!

This story about the little ghost quilt and his winter surprise was absolutely adorable. This children's story has the cutest illustration of the adorable ghost quilt and his winter/holiday adventures. I also loved the story, it illustrated themes of friendship, creativity, belonging and adventure while also having some light hearted spooky themes. This is a perfect holiday story for beloved children and adults alike - I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Illustrations and Story line are both 5 stars for me!

OOPS-de-loop! Please let me be a little ghost made of quilts in my next life.

For lovers of all things cute and spooky, this book is must. I absolutely loved this story, from the heartwarming tale of sharing joy with one’s friends to the cozy yet spooky illustrations. I cannot wait for my little one to be old enough for these books. I love how they touch on being different and embracing oneself. This one specifically also touches on sharing, or rather making your own, traditions with those close to you which really captures the holiday spirit for me.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise, was a cute story about connection and the importance of friendship. His loneliness inspires him to head and and find something to bring his friends to him in celebration. It was a sweet story and the illustrations were cute.

The illustrations in this book are so beautiful. It fits the story perfectly - with a darker tone for the ghosts but also warm and inviting for the holidays. It also felt nostalgic and homey in the best possible way.

The story is super cute about friendship and using what you have to make something beautiful. I think fans of the original book will really love this Christmas version but anyone can read this and feel the holiday spirit.

I think this series is so cute. I would love to see more "adventures" with this sweet little quilt ghost. In the first book we saw the quilt and watched him embrace his differences from the other sheet ghosts. In this book it does sort of reinforce the fact that he is different but still wants to find and do things with his fellow ghosts.

He is a little lonely because it's winter and since he is a heavier material being outside doesn't impact him in the same way as his friends. His friends are all hanging out inside and he's still out playing and adventuring in the snow.

The little quilt ghost stumbles upon some humans and he is really inspired by how the are decorating the trees. He decides that he wants to bring this joy inside to his friends. This aspect of the story kind of gave off nightmare before Christmas vibes but not as creepy, more cutesy.

The illustrations in this are beautiful. The story is sweet. I can't think of any reason it shouldn't have a spot on your shelves and be a winter tale staple for your kids!

Super cute picture book about ghosts celebrating Christmas! Read with my nine year old who said "this is adorable." So cozy and perfect for the younger crowd who want something like Nightmare Before Christmas but without any of the scary stuff.

A sequel to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt, the Little Ghost Quilt Winter Surprise is a charming picture book.

The story has both moments of tension, like when the Little Ghost must face the elements despite his quilting nature putting him at a disadvantage, and moments of happy relief, as when the same quilting nature allows this little ghost to go where no other ghost has gone before.

The illustrations, by Byron Eggenschwiler, are charming and evocative. I particularly liked the landscapes, crafted with care to immerse us in the silence and cold of midwinter days.

All that said, I found this book a lesser read to its predecessor. They’re both really sweet and funny books, but this one was not as surprising as the first.

I'm sure the sequel will be quite good, but I was sent the file for the original book. Very cute, I left a review for it on Goodreads, but not what the plot synopsis for this sequel promised.

EDIT: that has been fixed now. I find this even more charming and sweet than the first one.

A nice follow up to the original little ghost quilt. The illustrations are the winner here and the addition of Christmas colors brightened little ghost quilts world. The message is sweet and the inclusion of BOO words will make for a great read aloud.

How delightfully clever is a ghost made from a quilt‽

Unlike his friends, who are made from thin, plain sheets, this cute little ghost is crafted from a cozy quilt that makes him able to fly around outside when the weather is cold.

It’s very exciting to float around in the snow, except the little quilt ghost has to do it alone; it’s too cold outside for the other ghosts. But then he has an idea!

I loved this sweet story, and I think young children will, too. It’s such a unique idea for a character!

The illustrations are lovely and have so much detail, children will be wanting to look at the pictures again and again.

It would make a super gift for young book lovers.

This is a nice wintry story highlighting the joys of friendship, working together on a project, and doing nice things for each other. Beautiful story!
The illustrations Byron Eggenschwiler are simple, imaginative, FUN, and show just what is happening using brilliant colors against a more bland background. Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age, including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library!

Very sweet book to continue the series. Watching the magic of winter through the little ghost is adorable. You can feel all the emotions that the little ghost and his friends feel.

I recieved a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for review.

This was an adorable book about a ghost who is a quilt and trying to find something he can do during the winter with his ghost friends who are sheets. While he is heavy and warm enough to fly, his friends see too light and get cold too quickly. He has to find something to share with them!

This book is really cute and I really enjoyed the illustrations and the fa-boo-lous use of boos in the book.

A new Little Ghost Quilt coming back was not on my 2025 bingo card but I'm happy to use it for my free space! Always a delightful tale.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The little quilt is just as charming in this wintry tale as in the first. Sure to be a Canadian classic. #netgalley #tundra

I really enjoyed The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise even more than the first one. This follows the ghost guilt's journey during the winter, being the only ghost who can go out in the cold and snow since his quilt is heavier than the sheets of the over ghosts. The quilted ghost comes across a human town decorated for Christmas and wants to bring this human tradition back to the other ghosts since they can't see it for themselves, reminding me of the Nightmare Before Christmas when Jack wants Halloweentown to become Christmas-themed. I love the combination of Halloween and Christmas vibes, as it creates a cozy and comforting read that is further made enjoyable by the beautiful illustrations and calming colour palette. I love how this can be read for both Halloween and Christmas, making it one of those holiday books that can be read more than once a year! Overall, great book and I would love to have a physical copy of this when it comes out!! if you love Halloween, this book is for you! If you love Halloween AND Christmas....well then you are really going to love this like I did!

I also love, love, love that this is by a Canadian author and depicts an accurate Canadian winter with winter storms and poor weather!!!

BRB, I'm RUNNING to go get this ASAP from the store as soon as it comes out!! I already know this is going to be a staple holiday read for my classroom, as well as for my future kids.

Thank you to the publishing company Tundra Books and NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
