Well that was a huge YES! I can't stop going back and reading over all the quotes I highlighted. I haven't read writing like this in such a long time. The prose flowed so well and I loved all the big words used (I'm glad I was reading this on kindle because I definitely needed that built in dictionary to look them up haha)! A downside to reading on kindle was that the map formatting was shot, but the author did such an incredible job of building up the picture in my mind that I honestly didn't need it. I could picture precisely where each land resided and the lore surrounding this world is one of the best I've ever read. There aren't many times where I read about a world I'd want to exist in, but Anwyvn is the exception. I would relish the chance to spend even a day in this world, with these characters.

I went into this book blind and it was such a great decision! I loved finding out new information at the same time as our main character Rhya. Most of her life has been spent hidden away, even from herself, and now so many new things are emerging which made for a fantastic plot. Because she knew next to nothing of her powers, Rhya was strong in more organic ways, un-reliant on magic. She was a survivor, and the author struck a great balance between her independent spirit and the gradual way she started to open her heart to trusting others and allowing them to help her. It was an important message that we can be strong in our own right while still admitting our need for help. Elemental magic is one of my favorite things ever!! Since reading Percy Jackson, I am a sucker for these types of powers, and the dynamic this created between Penn and Rhya was 🔥

The slow-burn romance was perfection. It delivered while still leaving so much room for growth in the rest of the series. Also A+ for the banter between all the characters. The found family aspect of how they rallied around Rhya was really touching, and the warmth that came from their group felt like a big hug. For such a long book, and as someone who finds fantasy very hit or miss, I couldn't put this down. Another bonus for me was that the spice is pretty tame - only two kissing scenes with some detail, but nothing too explicit! Ultimately, everything I've listed in this crazy long review came together so flawlessly and I could never fully do it justice in writing. This is firmly on my favorites of the year list and all that's left to say is GO READ THIS. Happy Reading :)

The Wind Weaver is a beautifully written fantasy full of elemental magic, emotional depth, and a touch of romance. Rhya’s journey of self-discovery in a world that’s completely new to her is engaging and easy to get swept up in. The found family element adds warmth, and the love triangle—or potential “why choose?”—dynamic keeps the romantic tension simmering.

While the pacing dipped a bit in the middle, the beginning and end were strong enough to carry the story. I’m especially intrigued by the prophecy and how the introduction of the Earth aspect will shift the group dynamics in book two.

Overall, this was a compelling and heartfelt read, and I’m excited to continue the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson is a stunning, atmospheric read that swept me away with its captivating story and beautiful writing. From the very start, I was drawn into the world of the characters, feeling every twist and turn of their emotional journey. The setting is richly described, making it easy to picture everything vividly in my mind.

What I loved most was how the characters were so well-developed. They felt real and complex, and their growth throughout the story was both touching and believable. The romance added just the right amount of tension, while the deeper themes of identity, loss, and belonging gave the story even more weight.

I gave it 4 stars because, while I enjoyed it immensely, there were moments where I wished the pacing had been a bit more consistent. Some parts felt a little slower than others, but overall, the emotional payoff was well worth it.

If you enjoy character-driven stories with a mix of romance, fantasy, and rich world-building, The Wind Weaver is definitely worth reading. It’s a beautiful and heartfelt tale that stays with you long after the last page.

The Wind Weaver is a book that is so easy to enjoy, with it’s near constant elements of drama and a love-triangle leaning romance that keeps you wondering. Rhya is navigating a magical world entirely new to her, and we the reader discover all there is to know about elemental magic and the rarity of Rhya’s abilities as she does. There’s so much wonder in this world, but such high stakes too with Rhya’s position, and it’s a whirlwind of a story that keeps you turning the pages. I can’t wait to see where book 2 leads!

For me, The Wind Weaver started really well, then fell into a bit of a slump and then ended really well. I just think the pacing fell off a bit in the middle.
I feel like quite a lot happened to Rhya in the beginning and then again at the end.
I love the found family that Rhya now has, especially as she didn't grow up with one.
We have indecisive enemies to lovers, and I think we're edging towards either a love triangle or a why choose situation in book 2.
I am definitely interested in finding out more about the prophecy and whether the Earth aspect will be found. How will the dynamics change when they are found?
I'm very much intrigued by the overall story and will definitely want to continue with the next instalment.

Sentenced to death, Rhys is unexpectedly saved by the Commander Scythe. However all is not as it seems as she is transported over the mountains to the north and her destiny is revealed.
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was interesting and flowed well. There was good world building and the characters were believable. I now just want to see how the rest of the key characters are developed and the story is progressed, bring on the next book!

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

The Wind Weaver is a book full of magic and adventure. Rhya is a half-fae, taken prisoner and then freed by Commander Scythe, who takes her with him to the Northlands.

“You are a wind weaver. You are Air. Air, awoken.”

I’ve been wanting to read this book for quite a while since learning about it! I was happy to be approved for the eARC and being able to dive into!

The book reads very slowly, but still had me hooked. I loved the slow introduction to the world, its inhabitants, and its lore! I loved how it slowly build and how it wasn’t all thrown into a few pages. No info-dumps!

Rhya is such an amazing character! I absolutely fell in love with her and her journey! Her growth was really satisfying to read and amazing to see. She is naïve at the beginning but truly grows into a stunning woman.

The chemistry between Penn and Rhya wasn’t really noticeable for me. It felt a bit stilted to me really charge with tension as I would’ve liked with an enemies-to-lovers trope. I think this was mostly due to how it became cheesy at times. I do look forward to the development in the next book.

The plot and political intrigue were really well done and gave this book a lot of depth! The ending as well had me wanted to read the next book asap!

One thing that I don’t really get though about this book is the cover. It is absolutely stunning, but I don’t see any relation between the bird featured and the story told…

Overall, The Wind Weaver is a great book with elemental magic and an intriguing world and plot! Can’t wait for the sequel!

he wind weaver is a romantic fantasy that centers around a girl with one of a kind magic in a dying kingdom. in order to restore life and balance to the kingdom, she must reunite with the others to reunite power with the lands. i enjoyed this book a lot more than i expected to. the characters were so relatable and i loved rhya’s fire. as for the magic system, it was unique and unlike any magic system i’ve ever read about before

I would like to say thank you to Netgalley and Ace for an advance copy of 'Wind Weaver'.

The story follows Rhya who is a halfling on the run from the war-torn Anwyvn due to the fear of magic and any halflings are hunted and killed. However, Rhya is saved by Commander Scythye who recognises her mark of a Remnant, specifically a wind Remnant. There are four Remnants around the country and all four elemental souls need to come together to restore the balance of magic.

I really loved this, the atmosphere was so good, the characters were really likeable especially Soren and the explanation of the world building and the magic system was described in a way that I wasn't confused. It kept me intrigue every time I turned a page, I didn't want to put it down.

There was one thing that stopped it from getting a five stars from me was the whiplash that I got as well as the sharpish indecisive between Rhya and the Commander. I don't really mind it normally but for so reason it was an issue for me.

My review is already up on Goodreads under Bookellereads and will be published on StoryGraph, Instagram (might be the 23rd), Amazon and Waterstones later on today it will be under Bookellereads or bookelleisreading depending on the platform

The Wind Weaver had me hooked at the start with the introduction of the FMC Rhya, a feisty halfling, who encounters Commander Scythe, following capture and death sentence.

A slow-paced romantasy adventure ensues, with great world-building, a unique and distinctive elemental magic system and the meeting of the MMC Penn.

I loved the witty exchanges between Rhya and all the characters in this book, her journey to control her magic to help restore a war torn world and the forging of friendships throughout.

Although the second half of the book was a little slow at times, it was an easy read and still left me wanting to read the next instalment.

4.5 for this beauty.

Well what can I say, it started with a bang and ended with a bang and abruptly. I mean you can't end it like that. But you did lol
That being said if the fmc hadn't annoyed me for most of the book it would of had a higher rating. Too many books are portraying these young females as all naive and bloody stubborn and quite frankly it's doing my head in, anywaaaaaaays enough of that...
This book I would highly recommend to anyone. I mean the blurb had me at fae, then you have creatures, hidden power, elemental magic, banter galore and what I feel is soul/fated mates. I cannot wait to read the second book, like yesterday haha.

Thank you Netgalley and the author for the EArc in exchange for an honest review

This is the story of Rhya who is one of the 4 Remnants. She discovers that the strange tattoo on her chest means she is Wind. Penn "the Sythe" saves her from certain painful death and he is Fire. The enigmatic Soren is Water and they are yet to find the Earth Remnant.
I really liked Rhya she is strong and independent and she has to try and harness her power while fighting her attraction to Penn.
I liked her relationship with Penn's group of soldiers there is a fondness and respect there. There is good banter and always something happening.
She also made friends with Carys the wife of Uther and they have a really good relationship.
And have I mentioned Soren he wasn't in the book much hoping he will be in the second one more.
Really liked him - " You are not like him Skylark you are like me." He encourages her to use her power.
Loved this book it is well written and has good world building and descriptions. Slow burn can't wat for book 2.
Thanks Netgalley and the Pubisher.

This was so good! I love when a book has a good pace, the speed doesn't allow me to get bored and this one sure gave me that. The characters were great! I loved Rhya! The found family aspect always works for me and the banter! One thing I love more than anything, it is the banter, especially if it isn't restricted to the main characters.
The worldbuilding was exquisite and unique! I also didn't feel overwhelmed by it, loved learning with Rhya.

I'm so here for the next book!

Such mixed feelings over this read. I wanted to love it, but sadly I was disappointed.

From the start I was engrossed and completely invested in this story. However once I hit about 50% I just felt the natural flow stopped and everything became quite clunky. There were large information dumps that felt pivotal but then seemed forgotten.

I feel like the story could have been amazing, especially since it feels very similar to several popular ‘romantsy’ books, but with some tweaks to the writing. I feel like some chapters could have easily been condensed and others expanded upon.

I’m intrigued to see where this goes with the sequel but I can’t honestly say if this is a series I will finish.

On the last note I’m not entirely certain what the Phoenix type creature had to do with the story? I was really excited thinking this gorgeous mystical creature was going to come in any minute.

I this book 4stars. I love a book with good elemental magic, Fae, faited lovers...ish, war, prophecy , royals and so much more gotta say I'm hoping for a love triangle in the next book I'm more of a soren fan I have no clue why lol but I also do love a brooding Penn so rhya is a lucky girl can't wait for the next book because after that ending i need it

“One last thing…I’d hate to see your wings scorched before you ever get a chance to fly.” 🪽

Did I get physically blown away by this book? Yes I did, pun intended.

In a divided kingdom, the fae are hunted and our FMC, Rhya, is captured and sentenced to death.

"The noose chafes, a necklace of death."

At the last minute, she’s captured/saved by a moody commander - Hello, our MMC Scythe/Penn. From here, hidden magic, mythical creatures, and ancient prophecies are unveiled.

The juicy tension between destiny and desire ignites the perfect slow burn🔥

"Air and Fire, an inextinguishable passion. Igniting together into pure, unadulterated... combustion."

This book is for you if you love:
🌀Elemental magic

🌱Found family

🔥Slow burn — it took until the 30% mark for the MMC to remove his helmet (oh my goodness)

🛌 One bed / One horse

⚔️ He trains her

Now, the plot does get pulled in multiple directions but I believe it’s all setting up for an incredible book two, full of unanswered questions and unforgettable side characters. WIll we get a love triangle? I can't wait!
