Look, I will always read a Karin Slaughter book.
We are all guilty here was an absolute banger for me. Emmy lou is a great character and I love how involved she gets with the cases she works. I did not see the whodunnit coming, though I was able to guess one of the twists in regards to Emmy Lou.
All in All, another amazing read and I would highly recommend this

Yet another 5* read from this accomplished author. Two teenage girls disappear. A father and daughter head a frantic police search complicated by a town populated by unsavoury residents and regular church going families hiding under the umbrella of respectability all hiding secret lives that cannot be revealed to assist in any investigation for witnesses. Fast forward 12 years and old scars and open wounds resurface with the disappearance of yet another child with a similar modus operandi to the previous abduction.. Higher police authority designates an FBI agent experienced in child abductions and serial killers to joint the search as a consultant. Feathers are ruffled, old traumas emerge, family history explodes as time runs out for yet another victim. Fast paced investigation with excellent three dimensional characterisation and explosive conclusion that satisfies on every level. Many thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for this thrilling ARC.

Oh this book gave me quite the book hangover. I love Karin Slaughter's series. The Grant County series overlaps with the Will Trent series. The standalones are excellent. I felt some minor trepidation about a brand new series without any link to characters we've grown to know and love over a very long period of time.
I needn't have worried. Of course Karin Slaughter knows exactly what she is doing and has written an intense tale of the effect of crime within a small community and the suffocating impact on relationships, friendships and families. The main characters shine and never feel anything less than 3 dimensional.
The story begins with a murder and years later leads to a very similar crime scene. Is it a copycat? Is it the murderer striking again? As a reader you're taken along for the ride. All of my predictions were wrong and I very much enjoyed the unpredictability of the story as layer after layer was peeled back and the secrets of the characters within were laid bare. I cannot wait for the next one in the series. An automatic must-buy for me.

We Are All Guilty Here is a stunning new thriller from Karin Slaughter. Set in the small Georgia town of North Falls, the heart of Clifton County, this is dark and chilling with a cast of characters who have many secrets.
Clifton County was founded by the Clifton family, and its various branches still run the show. Officer Emmy Clifton is the daughter of the long time sheriff and related to many in positions of power. When two young girls go missing she investigates. One is the daughter of her best friend, so this is personal. What she doesn't know is that the case will change her entire life.
This is a well plotted book with nuanced characters. Everyone thinks they know each other in North Falls, but do they? And even when the case is finally solved there are more secrets to be revealed. This one grips until the very last page - and leaves the reader desperate for more. It's simply a must read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the book, I love Karin Slaughter but usually I only read her Will Trent books. Now that I've read this one, I'm going to start reading her other books for sure.
This one was full of twists and complex female characters, I really loved it. It wasn't an easy read but the last Will Trent was also a tought one. So, if you are familiar with her work, this is not going to be a surprise.

A emotional, heartbreaking start to a brand new crime police procedural. The characters are so well written that I felt like I have known them my whole life. The case while hard to read is sadly all too real. The plot had my heart pounding with dread and anticipation at the same time. I love how we get into all the crannies of the case before it is solved. I am excited to continue reading this series!

I have read all of Karin Slaughter's back catalogue, so was thrilled to be selected to read this ARC. This is yet another masterpiece, packed with thrilling twists and turns. I was intrigued from the very start of the book, and recommend it to all.

For context, I started reading this 6 days before Xmas so possibly the worst time of the year to find any spare time to sit and read amongst all the hubub of the season and yet here we are on the 21st, after a night of not sleeping, a day of squirreling away to read every spare second instead of running Xmas errands on the last sat before Xmas and I think that's says absolutely everything! I started and instantly was hooked. I love Karin Slaughter and have long followed the grant county series and such so I wasn't sure if I'd be quite so invested in new characters but omg! I could not get enough. This book is what all other thriller/ crime/ domestic noirs aspire to be. Its perfectly plotted out with twists and turns. It had multiple timelines but I loved that it didn't mix them which I feel like is the standard way to write these days. You have back in the day playing out and then cut to present and it was just so refreshing to not be jumping back and forth. The characters were amazing they were so realistic and human. I cried..... not gonna lie lol. I can easily say this will be one of the best books you'll read all 2025. The plot is fresh, original, so easy to get lost in and as much as it is complex woth multiple characters and things going on, it never gets muddy or confusing about who is who. I really hope this is the start of a new series because I would absolutely love to spend more time with the Cliftons!!! A must read
