This was incredible from the beginning to the end. From page one I was hooked!
The story was very detailed, which made it feel real, heartbreaking and heartracing. There was the gut punch moments, the twists and the aging story telling. Karin Slaughter has done it again with yet another fantastic book.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read the advanced e-book.

Another good read from Karin - I completely immersed myself in the characters and how they were all inevitably linked to the tragic outcomes. A bit graphic at times, but that keeps it real. Lots of clever twists and turns - I didn't guess who was the guilty party, till quite near the end, and then there was another unexpected twist! Thoroughly recommended.

Another amazing book by Karin. The focus is the murders of 2 teenagers and the secrets and lies of those that run the town. Lots of false leads, twists and turns all surrounding the towns founding family.

Classic Karin Slaughter, dark, tense and twisty. If you love her Grant County and Will Trent series, you’ll love the similar vibes. Great new protagonists and supporting characters, I look forward to spending more time with them as the series continues.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

Solid 3.5 star read. I liked it, i would recommend but i wasn't gripped.

Likes: The Cliftons especially Millie, fascinating child abduction stats, basic storyline, potential for further books out of North Falls.

Dislikes: too many similar male characters - got a bit confusing part of the way through, very stereotypical small towners - either small minded or rich and had the whole system in their pockets.

This was a very complex Murder/Mystery story, involving the abduction and death of young girls. A fractured family come together to find the missing girls. A very compelling storyline with some great characters. a great, relieving conclusion

You know how sometimes you just want a really good, twisty story? Well, a brand new book from this writer, Karin Slaughter, dropped, and it's like finding your favorite snack hidden in the cupboard. I got an early copy online, and bam! Everything else I was reading went straight to the side.

This isn't like her other books. It's about a police officer in a tiny place called North Falls, a lady named Emmy. Right away, two teenage girls vanish. They think they caught the bad guy fast, but then... years later, another girl goes missing. And that's when things get super weird.

This book is packed with details, like how they figure out crimes, and sometimes it's a bit gross, but it makes it feel real. You'll meet all sorts of people in this town, and everyone's hiding something. Some of their secrets? I didn't see them coming! It felt like the start of something big, like maybe we'll get more stories about this place.

I always enjoy reading Karin Slaughter books and I was delighted to receive a copy of her latest book We Are All Guilty here.
Police Offer Emmy Clifton is investigating the disappearance of two teenage girls and is desperate to find them before it’s too late.
This was an excellent story with some twist and turns and some wonderful characters.
I thoroughly recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next book from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, Harper Fiction for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love Karin slaughter. I have read every single one of her books and all her series but I have to say I really do love her standalones. Whilst not as good as previous such as Pretty girls which is my fave of hers I really enjoyed this. A lot of trigger warnings so beware.

The twists and turns were well written, I genuinely didn't guess who the culprit was and as always the characters are so fleshed out and written well. Another winner from Slaughter.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an ARC via NetGalley!!

This book was incredible. I had gotten into a bit of a slump with reading thriller/crime books as they all felt ‘samey’ but this one has truly blown my mind. The characters are so dimensional and there’s a good pace within the book to provide those characters with back stories and genuine growth. The twists and turns were completely unexpected and I gasped out loud multiple times when I was reading this. This book is amazing at keeping you in your toes - as soon as you think you’ve figured it out, you’re thrown for a loop. I knew Karin was an exceptional author but this is truly one of my favourite books I’ve ever read. It’s CSI meets Law & Order with a sprinkle of drama and comedy mixed in. It’s modern with many concepts, but it doesn’t border on ‘cringey’ like a few I’ve read before that are trying to be relevant and appeal to younger audiences. It was just overall a great read
I’m sad I’ve finished this book but I’m so glad I got to read it!

5/5 stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

No one does a thriller quite like Karin Slaughter and this was no different. I loved how intricate the girls were in this story. All the mystery that slowly unravels will keep you on the end of your toes until the very end. Dark, mysterious what else could you need!

I really enjoyed this first in a new series book by Karin Slaughter. I have read books by this author before so knew that this book would be amazing!
The main character is Emmy Clifton, and it follows her story regarding her best friend. The book had tense moments and a real who done it throughout the story which had me guessing to the end.

This book is nothing short of compulsive reading, with nail-biting suspense that grips you from the very first page. Slaughter’s masterful twists will leave you reeling, as each revelation takes the story to new, unexpected heights. The pacing is relentless; just when you think you've caught your breath, another twist pulls you back into the whirlwind of intrigue and emotion. Don't miss out on this gripping tale. Highly recommend.

What can I say , this latest book by the Author is outstanding - in fact I would go as far as to say
this is one of the best books I have read in the last year .
I could not put the book down , turning to the next page turned into a " what will happen next "
and in fact I ended up reading the book in one sitting . The tension and suspense was palpable
throughout , the action gained paced throughout the book , right until the very last page .
Whilst the book is full of suspense it is also full of emotional ups and downs , guilt is at the forefront
of the investigation ,
The characters are fully fledged from the beginning and I became invested in their outcomes - what a read !
The Author manages to write about small town America , the misogyny - the controlling elements
targeted at young women who want to believe they are loved , who will go against
perceived wisdom to gain that feeling .
Watch out for the "revelation" at the end of the book !
I cannot recommend this book enough and look forward to reading more from the Author
in the future

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

2.5 rounded up to 3, a.k.a pretty average!

While the residents of North Falls, Georgia, are all occupied enjoying the 4th of July fireworks, two local teenage girls – Madison Dalrymple and Cheyenne Baker – are being abducted from the carpark.

Deputy Emmy Clifton-Lang (the official Amazon blurb lists Emmy’s surname as ‘Clifford’, so it’s either a typo, was altered for the published version, or differs depending on edition), along with her Sheriff father Gerald Clifton, are first on the scene where all that remains are two mangled bicycles, a smashed cellphone, and blood. Emmy feels guilty, because when Madison tried to reach out to her earlier in the night, Emmy was too preoccupied with her crumbling marriage to listen. The hunt is on to find Madison and Cheyenne alive. But as the hours pass – hope fades.

Unfortunately, We Are All Guilty Here suffered from the same issues I had with another crime novel I read earlier in the month in that the characters were the standout. I really enjoyed Emmy, and all the supporting and peripheral characters. Her family drama and revealed secrets were another highlight. Also, the crime was emotionally affecting, and the character of Emmy did a superb job of conveying this.

There were some clever, surprising twists throughout the novel, but the resolution to the crime was pretty anticlimactic, didn’t bring anything new to the table, and contained a lot of telling rather than showing. There were disturbing moments but We Are All Guilty Here was pretty tame for a Karin Slaughter novel, which I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed by. The first 30% was a five-star read for me – however, I struggled with the twist that occurred soon after that point, and from then onwards I thought the excitement and urgency of the investigation tapered off. Speaking of the investigation, there was far too much time spent on interviewing suspects and the discussions of evidence grew repetitive. If you’re not a fan of police procedures, then I doubt you would enjoy this one. Finally, it was overly long, and there just wasn’t enough happening to sustain its length.

In conclusion, We Are All Guilty Here was underwhelming overall, and as much as I liked the characters, I’m not sure I’m curious enough to continue this series. Hopefully I’m in the minority, and other reviewers/readers will enjoy it more.

I’d like to thank Netgalley UK, Harper Collins UK, and Karin Slaughter for the e-ARC.

Publication Date: 19th June 2025.

A new Karin Slaughter is always a reason to celebrate, so when I received a digital ARC from NetGalley I cast aside all my other books and got stuck in.
This is a new fictional world for Slaughter, featuring a small town deputy, Emmy Clifton. The book starts with the abduction of Emmy’s best friend’s daughter, along with another 15 year old. The case appears to be solved pretty quickly, but when we jump forward in time and another 15 year old is missing, things take some very unexpected turns.
Full of the forensic detail which makes Slaughter’s books so realistic (sometimes gruesomely so), this is a real page turner. Characters in the small town of North Falls all have secrets, and some of these really surprised me. An excellent start to what I imagine might be a new series.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a copy of Karin Slaughter’s newest thriller!

This is probably my favourite Katin Slaughter novel yet. This woman definitely knows how to write about misogynistic murders with both compassion and reflection. That’s my favourite thing about Karin Slaughter’s writing, that she humanizes and sympathizes with her victims every step of the way. You never feel as if the crimes taking place are fetishizing female suffering. You never feel as if the perpetrator eclipses the story. Rather, Slaughter remind us that young girls can be as innocent or as “provocative” as you can imagine, but it doesn’t matter. It never matters. These are young children, and they’ve been preyed upon for their innocence. And no mortal justice can compensate for the hurt experienced by these women and their families. Nothing except the time and space to grieve can ever mitigate the pain.

“We Are All Guilty Here” was 450+ pages and I held on to every single word. I genuinely considered doubling my caffeine intake so I wouldn’t have to sleep, so I could keep reading. This is essentially a small-town whodunnit, but also a family drama… but also an exploration of community rot and true crime culture—so there’s something in here for everyone! Please read this book if you like thrillers, addictive writing and plot twists, and “everyone is a suspect” stories. If this is a series, as I suspect it may be, I need the sequel today.

An absolute knockout—a thriller that doesn’t just grip you but throttles you from the first page to the last. This was my first Karin Slaughter book, and wow, did it deliver. Twisty, unrelenting, and packed with high-stakes drama, it’s everything I want in a thriller and more.

Set in the small Georgia town of North Falls, the story kicks off with the disappearance of two teenage girls on the night of the fireworks—an event that sends shockwaves through the community. For Officer Emmy Clifton, this case is deeply personal. She failed her best friend’s daughter when she needed help, and now she’s determined to bring her home. But as she digs deeper, she realizes these girls weren’t as innocent as they seemed. Secrets lurk in every corner of North Falls, and some are worth killing for.

I was obsessed with trying to crack this case, but Slaughter outmaneuvered me at every turn. The twists are masterful, the pacing is relentless, and the family drama woven throughout adds so much emotional depth. And despite being longer than the average thriller, this book packs more punch than most—never a lull, never a wasted moment. It’s an adrenaline rush from start to finish.

Mind blown. Completely unputdownable. If this is what Karin Slaughter delivers, I need more ASAP. Highly, highly recommend!

This story follows Officer Emmy and her hunt for 2 missing girls in the small town of North Falls. There are a few twist and turns along the way and some family drama added in as well.

I really liked this book. It kept me hooked and left me wanting to find out more about the characters. . I did however find it slow paced at times but not enough to put me off the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins ULK and Karin Slaughter for this ARC
