This is a story about obsession and what can happen when incidents are not dealt with correctly at first point of contact especially by those who should know better. It is a dark and twisty tale and although you may try to surmise what is going on, it is only right at the end that you know for sure.

What I liked most about this book was how easy it was to read. The plot was gripping, with suspense and thrills unfolding effectively. However, the way the main character body shamed her friend left a bitter taste and the personal opinions on bodily autonomy came across as preachy, especially given the current sociopolitical climate. These made the main characte highly unlikable. Even before experiencing trauma, she had numerous opportunities to stand up for herself but failed to do so, making the narrative frustrating. The plot twists were predictable. That said, it was undeniably a page-turner and an entertaining read.

Suspenseful story about surviving and taking back your life. Soriah is a marketing professional and wife. She survived a terrible ordeal as a teenager when she was kidnapped and tortured by a fellow student who was obsessed with her. Soriah received notice that after 20 years her attacker is being released from prison and around the same time she begins receiving bouquets of flowers and messages from an unknown source. Has this man come back to torment her after all this time?

Told in then and now sections, the story explores how Soriah was lured into a bad situation by her best friend and she finds she cannot rely on anyone except her parents who have always tried to protect her. The story comes to a head when her husband Marcus is out of town and Soriah begins to feel watched, things are missing from her home and she feels cornered once again by someone or something evil. I liked Soriah and her loving parents who wanted to protect her. I did find the story was slow at times and spent a lot of time on mundane things like Soriah getting up, putting on socks, getting dressed etc. I did guess the twists but that never affects how much I enjoy a story. I liked the story but didn't find it to have that edge of your seat feeling that I like in a thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this ARC in exchange for a review.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

A book by Diane Saxon book will always keep you hooked and turning the pages, wanting to know how it ends but at the same time, not wanting it to end.

The story is the different characters points of view, with events that have happened and those that are yet to happen.

Soriah is the main character. A long time ago she was the victim of obsession by Craig, who was then sentenced for everything he did towards her.

Since then she’s tried to move on and get her life on track, when she gets a letter informing her that’s he has been released.

Then comes the twist after you’ve figured out what’s happened.

All I will say is, you’ll not want to put this down.

I highly recommend this book.

Soriah is living the quiet life when the man who had obsessed over her was liberated from prison. Disturbing messages start arriving, and strange happenings begin.

The pace is fast, the characters are well-developed, and we get enough of Soriah's background story that's told in flashbacks, so we learn exactly what had taken place. The flashbacks were from twenty years ago while she was at college. This is a tense and thrilling read. The story is told from Soriah's point of view, but we also get the perspective of a mystery voice who is watching over her. I was hooked by the end of the premise.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #DianeSaxon for my ARC of #TheQuietWife in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you @netgalley for this ARC copy of the book.
This book will be published on Feb 20, 2025.

The Quiet Wife by @dianesaxonauthor is a scintillating, gripping psychological thriller that will give you cold sweat, you will feel spine chilling horror running down through your nape in every chapter.

"I, Soriah want to be ordinary. To fade into the shadows where no one notices me and live a quiet life. A normal life.

But I am not ordinary. Not anymore.

I’ve been keeping a secret. From my colleagues, my friends and most importantly, my husband - who knows nothing of my past life.

Twenty years ago, at college, a boy became obsessed with me. Craig Lane believed he could make me love him back if he just tried harder. When I rejected him, he did something so horrifying, it’s the stuff of nightmares. All my nightmares."

Story goes back and forth whilst giving us agonizing chills that happened 20 years ago and present day's suspense simultaneously, because strange things have started to happen, Soriah receives flowers that have been left on her doorstep, her cat keeps going missing. Someone is watching.

But, something even more sinister could be stalking her from the shadows. Because Soriah has another secret...

Blood chilling, dark twisted plot with rising suspense, toxicity and vulnerability will envelope you as you started getting through the pages. This book also explores the patriarchal thought process that determines dangers in women's lives and presents a short argument in a compelling way.

To be honest this book is psychologically suspenseful horror, it was never intended to write an unpredictable thriller rather everything was hinted and quite understandable but the extreme fearful ambiance makes this page turner.

An absolute engrossing thriller that will leave cold numbness for a long time.

This is the first book I've read by Diane Saxon, and it definitely won’t be the last! As a fan of thrillers by authors like Claire Douglas, Freida McFadden, and SL Harker, I was hooked from the start. The pacing kept me engaged, making it hard to put down, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end. A fantastic psychological thriller!

No major twists or turns with a predictable ending but overall a good domestic thriller that I would recommend

hello thank you net galley for the arc. so i finished this today and it was an ok read. so we follow soriah, and she had suffered a tragic incident, and has moved on,until her world starts to crumble and she is forced to confront her past. while i did like soriah as a complex character, the ending just fell a little flat for me. but over all it was ok.

Soriah has a dark past and when her childhood stalker is released from prison she is utterly terrified. I am a sucker for a book like this that effortlessly draws you in and plays with your mind so that you are on the edge of your seat waiting for the bomb to drop. The author has written a honest and real storyline that seamlessly weaves from past to the present. I didn't know how it would end and it made me all the more eager to keep reading. It's dark and disturbing and the twist ending is chilling!

I had to DNF this one unfortunately. I struggle with domestic like thrillers, and found the main character to be immature for her age. There were a lot of things that pulled me out of the story and left me not caring to finish.

Very interesting premise and a very quick read. I found the book to be pretty predictable and saw the ending coming a mile away. For that, I feel it was just an average book. Nothing special or memorable for me, but very enjoyable to read.

A great domestic thriller which builds tension and pace through different points of view and times. I felt genuine anxiety when wondering whether the past was going to catch up to the present and think the author did a wonderful job in presenting the different perspectives of the characters. Really cleverly presented and a strong central plot.

Thank you to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for the chance to read this book.

This is a good book, there is nothing wrong with it but for some reason it's not gelling for me, it's a slower paced read for me and I just can't get into it. I'm not really favoring any of these characters.

greatly written just not for me

My first book by Diane Saxon and I absolutely loved it. Poor Soriah (love the name) had a bad hand at friendship and just trusting people. Two friends and a husband and not lick of truth in them. I will say The Fox and Craig tripped me up. The suspense was there and I enjoyed that I was able to figure out bits and pieces. That Gilly though, omg, how can one be so cruel. I do wish Soriah would have built a little bit more backbone over the years and her commons sense was a little bit more at speed lighting cause the signs were there but she stayed naive in so many ways, a blind could have seen them coming. I really did enjoy this book and cant to read more by Ms Saxon.

This book was such a great read, fast paced, twisty, sad and I really connected with the main character. Soriah.

Craig is in love with Soriah. Soriah is not in love with Craig. Gilly is Soriah’s best friend but what she does changes the course of all their lives forever.

I love how this story goes back and then to the present day. Excellently written.

Cant wait to read “My Mother's Lies”

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read in advance. This book was so captivating that it kept me reading for hours. There was never a dull moment throughout the book. The book was fast-paced with a plot that may be a little scary for some with the content being presented. Overall, I definitely recommend this book for thriller readers.

You can never go wrong with a Diane Saxon book if you like a gripping psychological thriller. Written from the different perspectives of the main characters and past and present events, the main focus is Soriah. Twenty years previously she suffered at the hands of Craig who was totally obsessed with her and was sent to prison for what he did to her. She’s tried really hard to move on with her life but then she receives a letter from victim support telling her he has been released from prison…… Just when you think you’ve got it all worked it there is another twist! I want to say so much about this book but don’t want to give too much away!! Thank to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC
