The premise of this manga slightly inflates what really is going on. I started reading expecting someone like Koshi Torako from My Deer Friend Nokotan, who hides her past—maybe violent, obviously mean. But no, Otogi Katsura secretly just stands up for herself. I wanted to get that clear for everyone who is considering picking up this manga, so you don’t feel underwhelmed in that aspect, because this manga is simply perfect.

Tell you what, Fall In Love, You False Angels, Vol. 1 is my first favourite book of the year. It didn’t get 5 stars, it got a Heart, and that in my rating language, means perfection. The best.

One of the major highlights is the beautiful graphics—they make it so easy to fall in love with every page. The character design for each of them is simply perfect

I read beyond Volume 1, and it only gets better. The storytelling feels so fresh—Coco Uzuki takes some of the usual shōjo manga routes but delivers them much faster, without feeling rushed. Things that typically take five to eight volumes happen early, and it’s such a delightful surprise. It only adds to how fun this manga is. I can’t wait for more.

There’s a rumour about an anime adaptation, and I hope it’s true. For now, I’ll be desperately waiting for the next volumes to be released.

DNF after Episode 1 aka 27.5%

The artstyle is so pretty and I nearly continued just for that. But the storyline itself was just not for me, It felt very stereotypical.

The banter between the main character is extremely cute and it was easy to like them right away. I loved how they only showed the darker side of themselves around each other.

From its title Fall in Love, You False Angels 1, I expected the manga to have a darker story—something with mafia, bad guys, or a similar vibe. However, it's actually not like that but I am not disappointed.

This manga follows a female and male lead who appear angelic, acting graceful, kind, and perfect, yet each harbors a hidden side they don't show to the world. It's a fun and engaging read, and I'm excited to see how the story unfolds in future volumes. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how these two students learn to embrace their true selves and realize that letting their other sides show can actually be helpful at times.

The artwork is amazing! The main leads are so pretty and handsome!

My rating is 4/5 stars. This is just on me, but I just don't like that the fmc was so obvious of his adoration to the mmc.

I received an advanced readers copy of this manga. Thank you very much Kodansha Comics and NetGalley!

This manga was so refreshingly cute! I absolutely loved the main characters — Otogi gave me Hermione vibes in the best way. All of her panels showing the arrow cracked me up every time. Not to mention the “sneeze” made me absolutely howl with laughter. I’m hooked after one volume — can’t wait to read the rest and see this romance unfold!

Hello Fellow Readers,

Fall in Love, You False Angels is about two 'perfect' high schoolers who have been pretending to be cute & innocent but actually have a bit of a wilder side to them. This mostly means they are not as sweet and perfect as their schoolmates like to think and will calculate, swear, and have a temper. Both Otogi and Toki have adopted personas at school, which leads them to be the envy of their classmates but one slips up and they both show their true selves to each other. They start to get close because they are the only two people at school who know how the other actually is. This is a cute story and I really enjoyed it, this does have the potential to lead into some funny high jinks, so I can't wait to see where Uzuki takes the story.

This was a great start to a series that puts a little spin on the classic class angel is actually not all that angelic trope. This book was fun and very light hearted. I flew through this first and I can't wait for volume 2.

This a was super cute and a fun read! I think there's a bit lost in translation, as the more informal/vulgar forms of Japanese have a weight to them that this translation doesn't. Katsura could come across as more vulgar to hit home that "badass" quality (Momo from DanDaDan is a great example of that handled well). I also think "madonna" doesn't quite land the same for today's audience as it could. It means a perfect or virtuous woman, sure, but I feel like a different word choice would work better.

All in all, a fun setup, reminiscent of Horimiya (cute girl + secretly punk guy). Can't wait for the next one!

I loved the comadarie between both characters as they hide their true selves at school but , slowly alllowing themselves to be truly themselves with one another. Loved how the male lead backstory is slowly unraveling and excited to see how thr relationship dynamic plays out in the story.

✨Manga Review: Fall In Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki✨

Fall In Love, You False Angels by Coco Uzuki is adorable, and the artwork is beautiful. The heart-stopping heartthrob angel is in a pinch! Otogi Katsura has found herself caught in Cupid’s cross-hairs and can no longer deny that she’s fallen for Toki Ninomae, the class prince and fellow false angel. As the two grow closer during a school orientation getaway, Otogi wonders if Toki feels the same way about her. Is his kindness just another part of his public facade, or is there something deeper to it?

❤️I enjoyed the camaraderie and playfulness between Otogi and Toki. The author not only builds up Otogi’s history and characterizations but also builds up Toki and some of the people around them. There are little details that make you like them even more. Otogi’s other persona is pretty badA. She’s not afraid to stand up for what’s right or defend herself. Yes, she contradicts that persona with her sweet and angelic Miss Perfect school persona, but both parts of her are adorable and strong in their own ways.

The first volume sets up the series as you see how Otogi tries to navigate school while keeping up both personas. Toki is doing the same but can handle it better than Otogi. However, he helps Otogi find a better balance between the two personas in a very roundabout way that gives her space to explore that space on her own. I enjoyed how they bounced off each other, and I am excited to see what more the series has in store.

I was waiting for a real “dark side” and something that would probably make this relationship special, yet the plot is that these two people aren’t nice all the time and they don’t accept toxic or problematic/criminal BEHAVIOR!

At some point she said “like me he’s a two faced person like me”… She’s simply not nice when people deserve it, and the man in question is a PED0PHILE…!

Yes, the MMC is pretty, and hot, and all, but this wasn’t a big deal to make it like thse two people weren’t “angels”.

Thanks netgalley for the free copy in exchange of an honest review.

First of all, the artwork in this book is absolutely amazing. Each page is filled with beautiful, high quality artwork.

In this story we have two main characters who have something important in common. They both have a dark side that they release whenever they're disrespected and treated badly. Once these characters realize how alike they are they find an understanding in each other. Finally they can be themselves around somebody, so what happens now?

It's a very cute story between these two. It does seem like not a lot happens but it works. I will be continuing on with this series.

Wow, what a fun take on the "pretty people" trope. I love that it isn't just one of them that is acting so other people like them or aren't offended by them. It works really well with me. I'm truly excited to see where this one continues to go, as I am now very invested in what is going on between them, and how long they will be able to keep their secrets.

The class president, Otogi, and her class vice president, Toki, are the definition of perfect, grace, and kindness. Both of them are practically angels. Or so the whole school thought. But in truth, they're crass and ready to fight. But once Otogi showed her other side and Toki showed his. Otogi can't help to actually like both versions of Toki... and that is just unacceptable!
.
This premise is so cute! I like how both characters are the same in the most unexpected ways. And this manga will definitely make your heart swoon! The manga illustrates Otogi's feelings very well, because as a reader it's like you're liking Toki along with her. Which is so cute and that's what you want. However, though they used a lot of different fonts to convey their sarcasm, or even just to try to show their "other" side, it doesn't translate very well to me personally. I had to read a few panels again just to imagine their voice as their" other" side.

Overall, this was a fun manga to read! I really enjoyed how they really come together as a team. It's just volume one and you want to root for them already. looking forward to meeting new characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for providing an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Otogi Katsura is the typical perfect “Madonna” of her school. Class president, perfect grades, and angelic attitude to boot. But she has a secret, her side personality that’s no nonsense badass. She thinks no one will ever see that side. Enter Toki Ninomae her #2 in every thing at school. Plus he’s the school prince. This angel has a devil side as well. Both deal with the fallout of learning each others flip side of their personality coin. I loved the artistic style especially moments when Katsura was having mental freak outs over her feelings for the bad boy prince. Can’t wait to see if they get closer in volume 2!

Thanks to NetGalley and Kondansha for the ARC!

Fall In Love, You False Angels 1 absolutely gives Kare Kano vibes, but seems way more lighthearted as a starting point. The tropes are fun and although Otogi has a lot of visible perfections that wouldn’t hinder her in or out of school, the idea that she has a strong sense of justice with a touch of a realistic teenager attitude is a little bit laughable from someone who isn’t Japanese.
I do find these coming of age stories interesting from an outside perspective as there is a lot of emphasis on your “outer look” maintaining a status quo or predictability that any teen could relate to, and I think it really lends it a cute charm. This kind of bubble that teens sit in isn’t forever, but it means a lot right in that moment.
Personally I think a lot of the other reviews are a little harsh about this volume (manga volumes do best as seen as whole series rather than single volumes as a personal opinion) and overall it is a cute introduction to the series, though it cuts off after meeting a bunch of new characters who will probably be our reoccurring main group of friends.

I loved it! The premise and delivery it's so good that you don't see it coming. It keeps you tense and excited. Honestly, it's such a fresh approach to the "double sided characters," since it's normally one character showing their side and the other one somewhat corresponding but they both being equally opposite it's just hilarious. Definitely addicting! And the illustration? Absolutely breathtaking.

It's a solid read. Really cute and the characters are likable. It doesn't stand out among other high school romance manga so far in my opinion, but I've only read the first volume so far, so my opinion on that may change later on. The character designs are really good. I love his hairstyle. Worth reading at least once.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an arc for review.

Fall In Love, You False Angels definitely scratched my shojo itch. It's cute, a bit silly and the art is super expressive and pretty. The plot? Slightly nonsensical. Why are these high schoolers so hyper aware of not letting their "real" personalities show through? (Really, it must be exhausting. Though their "dark" personas are hardly actually "dark.")
But did I care about that? Not really. Some things are meant to be read solely for the vibes, and Fall In Love, You False Angels is just one of those manga for me. I will say, I did find it a bit irksome that there wasn't much in the way of plot progression and I was hoping that there would be the tiniest bit more progression or action.
