Firstly, thank you for the ARC of Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben.

I did not know this was the 2nd instalment of this series, however in my opinion, it can be read as a stand alone, it was brilliant. You get to know the characters, I enjoyed reading about Kierce, he’s a likeable individual. The plot is great and the pace of the book is ideal.

I loved the last few chapters, you got everything you needed to know wrapped up with a bow on the top. It does make you think, how far would you go to protect your children.

I look forward to reading more from Harlan and wish him every success for publication day.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with Sami again and some other old friends, nice to know he's settled with a family. He is doing what a lot of 'retired' police do, acting as a private investigator and teaching evening classes. He is unprepared when an old girlfriend suddenly turns up and then disappears again, especially as he thought he had killed her whilst in Spain on holiday. He starts to investigate with the help of old friends and his class students and soon finds out the truth, but at a price. All the clues are there but as usual with Harlen Coben you don't see the ending twist.

Sami Kierce goes on holiday to Spain with friends from college , he meets Anna, and as his friends continue their travels . he decides to stay with her at her apartment. Most nights are spent in a haze of drugs and drink but one morning Sami wakes up with a knife in his hand and Anna covered in blood apparently dead, He wants to tell the police but Anna;s drug dealer/friend tells him to leave immediately. He rings his father who tells him to get the first plane back to America . He does but keeps worrying about Anna;s death.
On New Years Eve 1999 Victoria , a rich girl from a very rich family , goes missing from a party she was co-hosting at a pub.She is never seen again for 11 years until she is found at a diner suffering from memory loss .
Some years later Sami , having been sacked from the police force , is teaching a class in Criminal Detection to a bunch of want to be sleuths when he sees Anna at the back of the class ,she starts to run but is seen jumping in to a Mercedes with a driver.
He enlists the help of his class to investigate how she could be alive and who she is, It appears that she is Victoria , and eventually her father asks Sami to investigate Victoria;s missing 11 years.
However things are not as they appear as they never are with Harlan Coben. Another cracker.

Well, this was twisty!

Ex-cop Sami Kearce now teaches a class for wannabe sleuths, a job that doesn’t quite pay the bills, but it’s all he has to support his wife and baby son.

22 years previously, Sami had a brief holiday romance with Anna and woke one morning to find her dead in the bed beside him, a bloodied knife in his hand. He ran, but it’s haunted him ever since. Until Anna turns up at his class one evening. He recognises her instantly, but she runs.

What a plot, I was hooked! As Sami tries to find Anna and the truth, a man who was convicted of killing Sami’s cop fiancée is released from jail.

There was a slow down in pace towards the end and then a massive rush to the end with a couple of brilliant and very unexpected twists that had my jaw on the floor! The rushed ending was a bit of a shame for such a well thought out plot, but nevertheless, a great read!

4.5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Harlan Coben and Random House Cornerstone for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This had an interesting plot, following on from Fool Me Once but it failed to deliver for me. I found the writing to be quite tedious. I do like the character of Sami Kierce though but the book lacked the usual tension from the author and there were too many loose endings in the sub plot. It's an ok read, just not what I expect from the author and I just feel a bit let down. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

You know you are never going to be disappointed with a Harlan Coben book. Although this contains a few characters from Fool Me Once, it serves equally well as a standalone. Love the main character, and the clever plotting and conclusion blew me away. I couldn’t put it down.

Thanks to the author, publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with this advance digital copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

This was only going to get 3 stars, but the ending saved it, so 4 stars it is.
I'll admit that I find the writing style difficult to read. I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan of American writers. I don't get their humour. But saying that, once I got past the lingo and sorted it out from the actual story, it was rather good.
Sami Kierce, as a young student, backpacking, wakes one morning to discover himself covered in blood with a knife in his hand. Lying next to him is Anna.
Fast forward to the present, and Sami is teaching evening classes. There, he spots Anna in his class, but she runs off. He chases her. Is it really her? He thought she was dead.
There were a lot of twists to this, which I really liked as I didn't know what was going to happen next.
Sami has to sift through what the truth is and what are lies, and there are plenty of them.
Overall, it was a decent read with a shock ending.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers Random House uk for the invitation to read this in return for an honest review.

Another great book by Harlan Coben

Sami Kierce is an ex-cop, playing at being a PI whilst doing jobs for a law firm in return for work on his own case.
But Sami has a dark secret - whilst in his early twenties, whilst travelling in Europe, we met a girl he fell for - but then he found her dead in their bed. His world changed in an instant. No longer heading for medicine, but the bottom of a bottle.
Twenty odd years later. Sami is trying to make ends meet, taking jobs from a law firm to help pay for the case against him whilst a police officer. He runs a night class in criminology. But one night he sees a face from the past - could it be Anna? His love from Spain? And who is she? Then there is the small fact of his former fiancé’s murderer being let out of prison early.

Sami starts investigating and finds that Anna is Victoria - a girl kidnapped over 20 years ago, and then reunited with her family after 11 years. Who Is lying? Who is telling the truth?
A real page turner - yet another classic from Harlen Coben

Thanks so much NetGalley for the advance copy. I enjoyed reading this book.

When I realised that this was a sequel to Fool Me Once, I have to admit I was sceptical. Sam Kierce in my opinion was not a major character in the first book, although he did play a central role. I have a suspicion this was based more on the Sam K. character in the TV series vs. the book (I don't remember him being Asian in the first book).

We get a bit of his back story - his fiancee was murdered and back in his 20s, he spent some time with a woman called Anna, and woke up one morning to find her dead and a bloodied knife in his hand. Now a disgraced cop, he's teaching a class to a group of Amateur wanna be detectives. One day, the woman he thought was dead came to his class and then ran off. He then begins to unravel what had happened to him all those years ago, and it's a great read.

Love Coben's books - and this will be another hit.

Nobody’s fool by Harlan Coban is the second book in the Sami Kierce series but, you can read it as a standalone as I have not read the previous book.
Sami Kierce after being disgraced by the Police force is now teaching wannabe detectives/ True crime Podcasters. While teaching a class a woman walks in with an uncanny resemblance to a woman called Anna who he met over twenty years ago in Spain. But it can’t be her, as he woke up after a night out with a bloodied knife in his hand and the body of Anna beside him dead. Who is this woman and why is she here?
At the same time there is news that the killer of Sami’s previous partner has had an early release from prison. He wants to know what the hell is going on. Sami has never got over her death.
Mr Coban has yet again had written yet again a fantastic gripping thriller, With a intriguing original storyline as such a likeable character of Sami Kierce. This is a great page turner, and the character of Sami makes it more enjoyable and makes me want to turns the pages to fid out more. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to hear more from this character. 5 stars from me

Nobody's Fool is a strongly written sequel to Fool Me Once and it is a pleasure to encounter Detective Sami Kierce again who is now married to Molly and has a son. The plot is beautifully crafted and there are so many unexpected twists and turns that makes it impossible to put this thriller down until the last page. Coben knows how to build tension up and keep the reader guessing to what really happened to the main protagonist.
On the way, the reader meets so many vivid characters including two members of the Burkett family from the previous story. It is easy to become emotionally attached to them all in this compelling and fast pace read. I highly recommend this book especially if you have read the earlier novel.

Harlan Coben's style of writing does not disappoint. The story flows easily and despite all the twists and turns is easy to follow. I did not realize that this was a sequel as it works well as a stand alone novel. Keirce is a disgraced NYP policeman. A woman from his past suddenly shows up in a class he is teaching. The ideas concerning the solving of cold cases using students from this class seems a unique concept. Enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and for the advance copy of this book.

Even though I did watch ‘Fool Me Once’ as a series on Netflix, I wouldn’t have guessed that this book is somewhat a sequel.

Sami Kierce is a fantastic leading character and I found him almost as endearing as Coben’s other lead, Myron Bolitar.

The plot of the book was really interesting and there was lots going on at once. I couldn’t put the book down most of the time and I didn’t really see anything coming!

This book is fantastic and can be read as a standalone easily. This is definitely one of my favourite Harlan Coben books!

Synopsis: Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He begins to scream - and then he runs.

Twenty two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is working off his debts by teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna.

I can't believe I haven't read a Harlan Coben book yet but this was fantastic!

I've watched all of the Harlan Coben Netflix series and loved them all, so knew I would enjoy this.

This gripped me in from the start and didn't let me go. I loved the diversity of characters and enjoyed the humour brought in by Sami's amateur detective club.

This felt fun and fresh compared to some thrillers I've read recently, whilst also succeeding at a believable ending.

I haven't read Fool Me Once and I don't think it is required before picking this up. This book acts brilliant as a standalone. I really enjoyed the ending, as it wrapped everything up whilst also leaving it open for a sequel.

Huge thank you to Harlan Coben, Random House Cornerstone and NetGalley for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

It took me a little while to get into this book. I have recently read Fool Me Once, and watched the TV show, both of which I found quite gripping. I think maybe I was expecting a faster pace and felt a little disheartened at the beginning.
However, as the story unfolds I became more involved in the characters and enjoyed the story much more. It was great to see the link between the first story characters, however you didn’t need to have read fool me once to enjoy this book.
Great ending which I hadn’t guessed during the book and the writing style is great as always from this author
I suspect (and hope) that there may be a part three but will wait and see on that!

4.5 ⭐️ thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the arc copy of this book.
Once again Harlan Coben didn’t disappoint. I’ve loved every second of this book, poor Sami though all the drama and heartbreaks.
A perfect ending for a perfect book. A must read if you’re a Coben fan and love Sami as much as I do
