Another fantastic thriller from Harlen Coben. Fast paced, a good twist and utterly readable. I always enjoy his books, and this one was no exception.

Another great book by Harlan Coben

Sami Kierce is an ex-cop, playing at being a PI whilst doing jobs for a law firm in return for work on his own case.
But Sami has a dark secret - whilst in his early twenties, whilst travelling in Europe, we met a girl he fell for - but then he found her dead in their bed. His world changed in an instant. No longer heading for medicine, but the bottom of a bottle.
Twenty odd years later. Sami is trying to make ends meet, taking jobs from a law firm to help pay for the case against him whilst a police officer. He runs a night class in criminology. But one night he sees a face from the past - could it be Anna? His love from Spain? And who is she? Then there is the small fact of his former fiancé’s murderer being let out of prison early.

Sami starts investigating and finds that Anna is Victoria - a girl kidnapped over 20 years ago, and then reunited with her family after 11 years. Who Is lying? Who is telling the truth?
A real page turner - yet another classic from Harlen Coben

Thanks so much NetGalley for the advance copy. I enjoyed reading this book.

When I realised that this was a sequel to Fool Me Once, I have to admit I was sceptical. Sam Kierce in my opinion was not a major character in the first book, although he did play a central role. I have a suspicion this was based more on the Sam K. character in the TV series vs. the book (I don't remember him being Asian in the first book).

We get a bit of his back story - his fiancee was murdered and back in his 20s, he spent some time with a woman called Anna, and woke up one morning to find her dead and a bloodied knife in his hand. Now a disgraced cop, he's teaching a class to a group of Amateur wanna be detectives. One day, the woman he thought was dead came to his class and then ran off. He then begins to unravel what had happened to him all those years ago, and it's a great read.

Love Coben's books - and this will be another hit.

Nobody’s fool by Harlan Coban is the second book in the Sami Kierce series but, you can read it as a standalone as I have not read the previous book.
Sami Kierce after being disgraced by the Police force is now teaching wannabe detectives/ True crime Podcasters. While teaching a class a woman walks in with an uncanny resemblance to a woman called Anna who he met over twenty years ago in Spain. But it can’t be her, as he woke up after a night out with a bloodied knife in his hand and the body of Anna beside him dead. Who is this woman and why is she here?
At the same time there is news that the killer of Sami’s previous partner has had an early release from prison. He wants to know what the hell is going on. Sami has never got over her death.
Mr Coban has yet again had written yet again a fantastic gripping thriller, With a intriguing original storyline as such a likeable character of Sami Kierce. This is a great page turner, and the character of Sami makes it more enjoyable and makes me want to turns the pages to fid out more. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to hear more from this character. 5 stars from me

Nobody's Fool is a strongly written sequel to Fool Me Once and it is a pleasure to encounter Detective Sami Kierce again who is now married to Molly and has a son. The plot is beautifully crafted and there are so many unexpected twists and turns that makes it impossible to put this thriller down until the last page. Coben knows how to build tension up and keep the reader guessing to what really happened to the main protagonist.
On the way, the reader meets so many vivid characters including two members of the Burkett family from the previous story. It is easy to become emotionally attached to them all in this compelling and fast pace read. I highly recommend this book especially if you have read the earlier novel.

Harlan Coben's style of writing does not disappoint. The story flows easily and despite all the twists and turns is easy to follow. I did not realize that this was a sequel as it works well as a stand alone novel. Keirce is a disgraced NYP policeman. A woman from his past suddenly shows up in a class he is teaching. The ideas concerning the solving of cold cases using students from this class seems a unique concept. Enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and for the advance copy of this book.

Even though I did watch ‘Fool Me Once’ as a series on Netflix, I wouldn’t have guessed that this book is somewhat a sequel.

Sami Kierce is a fantastic leading character and I found him almost as endearing as Coben’s other lead, Myron Bolitar.

The plot of the book was really interesting and there was lots going on at once. I couldn’t put the book down most of the time and I didn’t really see anything coming!

This book is fantastic and can be read as a standalone easily. This is definitely one of my favourite Harlan Coben books!

Twenty two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is working off his debts by teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna.

I can't believe I haven't read a Harlan Coben book yet but this was fantastic!

I've watched all of the Harlan Coben Netflix series and loved them all, so knew I would enjoy this.

This gripped me in from the start and didn't let me go. I loved the diversity of characters and enjoyed the humour brought in by Sami's amateur detective club.

This felt fun and fresh compared to some thrillers I've read recently, whilst also succeeding at a believable ending.

I haven't read Fool Me Once and I don't think it is required before picking this up. This book acts brilliant as a standalone. I really enjoyed the ending, as it wrapped everything up whilst also leaving it open for a sequel.

Huge thank you to Harlan Coben, Random House Cornerstone and NetGalley for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

Rating: 4.5⭐️

It took me a little while to get into this book. I have recently read Fool Me Once, and watched the TV show, both of which I found quite gripping. I think maybe I was expecting a faster pace and felt a little disheartened at the beginning.
However, as the story unfolds I became more involved in the characters and enjoyed the story much more. It was great to see the link between the first story characters, however you didn’t need to have read fool me once to enjoy this book.
Great ending which I hadn’t guessed during the book and the writing style is great as always from this author
I suspect (and hope) that there may be a part three but will wait and see on that!

4.5 ⭐️ thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the arc copy of this book.
Once again Harlan Coben didn’t disappoint. I’ve loved every second of this book, poor Sami though all the drama and heartbreaks.
A perfect ending for a perfect book. A must read if you’re a Coben fan and love Sami as much as I do

I always enjoy reading Harlan Coben. Sami Kierce is a new character to me,as I had not read Fool Me Once-an oversight I must remedy soon. I found his voice to be quite similar to Myron Bolitar so struggled at times to remember that they were not the same character. Apart from that, this is a typical, twisty Coben thriller; just when you think you’ve worked out what is going on, the story takes an unexpected turn and keeps you guessing.

Another great read by this author and cant wait for the Netflix adaptation of this one. This time we meet an ex cop whose life has spiralled out of control after loosing his job due to misconduct. As the man convicted of murdering his girlfriend many years ago gets released due to his involvement a brief sighting of a woman he believe dead turns his world completely on its head. Can he find the evidence to prove that the right guy was convicted and was the woman his holiday romance or is that story even more of a mystery. Great characters and I fell in love with his little sleuth club of amateur detectives.

First I want to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone | Century for the ARC copy of Nobody’s Fool.

Now onto my thoughts….

I loved this book! This was fantastic. The writing, the plot, the storyline, the characters, the ending was just one whole pile of perfection!!

Harlan Coben never disappoints with his stories, they are gripping. From the beginning I was hooked, this was unputdownable.

Poor Sami didn’t have much luck at all. But I really enjoyed his character, in a way felt relatable and very much likeable.

I don’t want to say much about the story as I don’t want to give any spoilers but that ending was perfect. I just loved this book!

When college graduate Sami wakes in Spain covered in blood, with a knife in hand and the body of girlfriend Anna beside him, he runs. Years later, he sees Anna at a class he is teaching - but it surely can't be her? What follows is a game of cat and mouse. Can he locate 'Anna', and wrork out what is going on?

An enjoyable, easy to read thriller. Harlen Coben is a must read author for me, his stories never let me down, and his writing style is smooth and engaging. I thought I had figured out the mystery a couple of times during this book, but each time it twisted away from me again - a great read.

Nobody's Fool reminded me why I've enjoyed reading Coben so much over the years. A strong premise, a pacy beginning, and some interesting twists and turns even when you are beginning to put things together yourself.

Here, ex-copper Sami Pierce flashes back almost 25 years. He's travelling around Europe when he meets Anna in Spain. They share a few precious nights together - just fun really, and then he wakes one morning to find her bloody and dead next to him. He tries reporting it, but by the time cops visit the apartment, the body is gone. Sami goes home and tries, desperately, to forget.

Until one day, he's teaching a night class on criminology and who makes an appearance but Anna - the face from his memories and nightmares. He gives chase but finds more mysteries instead of answers. Why is she hiding? Who is she really?

This felt fun and fresh compared to some thrillers I've read recently. There was plenty of tension, but humour, too (I really liked the night class), and the plotting stayed nicely on the believable side for me. Looking forward to the next one!

Sami wanted to be a Dr but after falling for a girl on holiday and waking up to find her dead, his whole life changes for the worse. Then, years later, he catches a glimpse of Anna and realises that he has to find out what really happened, at the risk of losing everything that he has.
I've read every Harlan Coben book; this one felt a little different - I'm not sure whether it was because it was written in first person or whether I found Sami a difficult character to like. It was however a good weekend read.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have seen or read a few Coben books but had not read Fool me Once, which is seen as the precursor to this one and the one where Sami Kierce is introduced. I don't think it mattered that I had not read that book as Coben gives a good account of Sami's background and how he ended up as a disgraced detective, without making you feel like it's just a summary of the earlier book.

It was an intriguing premise - Sami as a young man in Spain waking up next to the dead body of Anna and covered in blood, thinking he was responsible and running away back to the US. In the present day, Sami encounters Anna at his night class and so begins a deeper mystery.

It's fair to say there is a lot going on, with multiple subplots happening all at once, and referring back to earlier events in Sami's life. It does make sense though as I didn't feel overwhelmed with all of this. The story kept a good pace and there were multiple twists as you would expect from Harlan Coben.

A decent read.
