As a devoted fan of Harlan Coben, I was eagerly anticipating the release of this book, a sequel to "Fool Me Once," with high expectations

A year after the first book, the disgraced former cop Sami Kierce is making a living as a private investigator while supplementing his income by teaching a criminology course to a diverse of individuals. One evening, a woman enters his class and quickly departs. He recognizes her someone he believed to have died years ago and enlists the help of his six students to find her. From this point a much larger begins to unfold.

I particularly enjoyed the reappearance of familiar characters from "Fool Me Once."
Although I found the a bit slow the beginning, it rapidly builds to a very surprising conclusion.
Overall, it is an excellent book that I really enjoyed and didn't want to end.

‘There are scientists who believe that no sound ever dies, that it grows softer, fades, decays to the point where we can’t detect it with our ears anymore, but that it’s there, somehow, and if we could ever be silent or still enough, we would be able to hear that sound for all eternity.’ ➖ ‘That was how this scream felt. And sometimes, even now, in the quiet of the night, I can still hear the echo of that scream.’➖ ‘It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.’➖ ‘A parent is only as happy as their saddest child.’➖‘Nothing heals trauma better than resolution and closure.’

Imagine waking up to your girlfriend murdered, you’re holding the knife and covered in blood. Two decades later whilst teaching a class, after you got kicked out the police force, you see her at the back and … she bolts.

Oh I loved this book!! This thriller was incredible & it is a follow on from Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once where we first meet Sami, but it is not essential to read prior to this book.

I had no idea what the outcome was going to be. I had 101 theories all at once and none of them were correct. I was turning the pages so quickly, the pacing was great with a perfect balance of suspense building, character development and action.

I loved the groups of characters we meet and the class projects dedicated to solving the mystery. It bought an element of lightheartedness but also, ‘we’re gonna taken tbem down’ kind of vibe.

There’s a lot of emotion in this and you really have to play devil’s advocate to see where you stand with certain chapters. Where do your morals lie?

The ending makes you scream, gasp, hurl your book at a wall. WHAT!!!!!!!

Overall, a really great read and the plot and characters had some great quotes that made you reflect on the story and your own life too.

Thank you Harlan Coben and Grand Central Publishing for this copy.

Another very clever, compelling storyline from Harlen Coben that will keep you guessing right up to the end. A number of plots involved, all from Sami Kierce's past which at times threatened to overwhelm me but I just couldn't put it down. Brilliant!

Sami, a disgraced former detective has had a traumatic past love life and when his former fiancées killer is released from prison and Anna, whom he had a fling with in Spain and thought was dead turns up after over twenty years the mysteries surrounding these events makes for a compelling read. There’s a lot going on but as always the author navigates the reader through twists and turns with complex plots and characters and a breathtaking final few chapters where some of the answers are revealed. Intelligently written and dealing with many modern issues this is a clever and highly enjoyable thriller.

Well this book is Harlan Coben doing what he does best! The Netflix adaptations of his books have worked so well and he has such a magic formula that he sticks to what he does well and that’s delivering a twisty and engaging story with a strong male protagonist leading the characters as Coben directs them.
I can’t wait to see this one adapted for the small screen! A thrilling tale of love and family that will have you thinking about it long after you’ve turned the final page-loved it!

Lies, lies, and more lies.
I'm a big fan of Harlan Coben and so was really looking forward to reading this book, which is a sequel to "Fool Me Once" so my expectations were high.
A year on from that book, we have disgraced now ex cop Sami Kierce struggling to make a living as a private investigator and supplementing this with running a criminology course for a disparate group of individuals. A woman walking into his class one evening and then quickly leaves. He recognised her as a woman he thought had died 25 years before and enlisted the help of his students 6 to find her. From here, a much bigger mystery unfolds.
I found the book a little slowing the beginning, but then it builds rapidly to a very surprising conclusion.
It's a good book and I enjoyed it.

Second in the series of books by the talented author Harlan Coben and this one again does not disappoint.

Sami Kierce is running his own class now his career as a policeman is over and teaching wannabe detectives some skills, while using them to help him solve some real life crime. Sami’s past comes back to haunt him when a girl he met and believed was dead some 20 years ago shows up at his class, while the students are studying the reappearance of an heiress, missing for many years.

Brilliantly written with quirky characters and a great plot with many twists and turns along the way. I love the character of Sami and the selected students that are helping his investigation are hugely lifelike and entertaining. I can’t wait to read what book 3 has in store for them.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I did not read Fool Me Once, but I watched and enjoyed the tv series. I did not realise it was the same detective Sami Kierce who is featured in this novel, so it reads perfectly well as a standalone book, there is no other link.
The difference for me was how American this novel is, compared to the British tv production of the previous novel.
This is not a criticism, but probably explains why I found it difficult to get into this novel, after the tv series.
The writing style is very different, and after the dramatic opening chapter, it became a bit bogged down in Sami’s background, how he came to be sacked from the police force, and in random people he encountered, whose back stories are described in great detail, often with little relevance to the story.
However the ingenious idea of setting up a criminal detection class to appeal to true crime enthusiasts while earning Sami a bit of money, provides a number of very invested, random groups to help him investigate what happened to Anna. They proved to be central to his solving the mystery of Anna, when Sami thought she had been murdered, possibly by him. until she turns up at one of his lectures.
Then the story really gets going, and becomes fast paced and intriguing, so that I couldn’t put the book down. The twists and turns are riveting, and Sami’s character grows alongside the narrative. I would love to read more of Sami’s detective cases, and his relationship with his beloved Mollie, and youngster Henry. It seems that Sami is one of the good guys after all.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book, I enjoyed it greatly.

This psychological thriller is written by Harlan Coben and is the follow on novel from Fool Me Once. Sami Kierce’s whole life changes 25 years ago after he goes backpack in Spain with friends for a holiday. He is a medical student who works with the college football team. He meets Anna. at a disco and they hook up. Anna is a free spirit who is involved with drugs. Sami also starts to partake. One morning Sami wakes up with a knife in his hand, covered in blood and Anna’s lifeless body next to him. She had been stabbed to death. He has no recollection of the previous night. He goes to the police but when they return to the scene of the crime Anna’s body has gone. His father tells him to leave. He flees from the scene of the crime and the country. Shortly after returning home there is a huge news about a local heiress Victoria Belmond being kidnapped

His whole life changes. Prior to Anna’s murder he was a medical student but he instead becomes a NYPD police officer. Several years ago he was engaged to Nicole Brett, also a police officer Sadly she was murdered by Tad Grayson. He is now married, to Molly, lives in NYC and has a baby boy.

Career wise Sami is a disgraced cop, kicked out of the force after chasing a suspect off a roof. He works as a private investigator for a law firm and teaches criminology night classes. He is sure he has seen Anna alive and well at one of his lectures. There eyes lock and she runs as soon as she realises he has recognised her. Tad has also just been released on a technicality. Tad asks the firm Sami works for to investigate Nicole’s case and Sami agrees to help.

Sami enlists his criminology students to help solve the two murders, the kidnapping of Victoria and the possible link between her and Anna, find out what really happened in Spain and figure out who is stalking his family. There are lots of twists, red herrings and cliff hangers in the storyline. The ending cannot easily be guessed, leaving enough room for a third book in the series?!

I enjoyed this book. It is fast paced, well throughout with lots of sun plots. The humour is brought in by his amateur detective club which is run by Sami. The characters add variety and dimension to the plot and direction of the storyline. I don’t normally enjoy novels written in the first person but with Sami acting as the narrator I felt it drew the reader into the story.

Sami Kierce thinks he’s responsible for the death of his summer fling Anna while vacationing in Spain and flees the scene and the country. Two decades later, he’s now a disgraced ex-cop doing private eye work to make ends meet, when he sees Anna very much alive and well. So if she didn’t die all those years ago, what really happened? And what does her sudden reappearance have to do with a missing woman?

Harlan Coben once again expertly weaves a clever, complex tale packed full of his trademark twists, cliffhangers and humour — I defy anyone to read it in less than one or two sittings. As a thriller author myself, I often guess the big twists but not this time! The book is called Nobody’s Fool and let’s just say Coben fooled me more than once with the surprising reveals that kept on coming right to the last page.

Nobody’s Fool is fast-paced, smart and easy to read, and fans of the author will enjoy the Easter eggs from previous books scattered throughout. In short: Classic Coben!

A very enjoyable read. Gripping and with good characterisation and a light-hearted style, though things did get dark at times. I don't want to give anything away, but I found the plot possibly a bit far-fetched. This in no way spoiled the pleasure of reading the book though. Recommended.

Yet another brilliant psychological thriller by Harlan Coben, I was kept guessing until the end. Fast paced and makes the reader want to keep on reading through the night. Wholeheartedly recommended.

So this follows on from Fool Me Once with disgraced detective Sami Kierce, who I must admit I didn't remember from the first one even though I read it last year, but you definitely don't need to have read it. This was a bit slow and not a great deal seemed to actually happen until the last minute and the ending was a bit underwhelming.
I do love Harlan Coben but this didn't really captivate me like the previous ones.

A superbly written psychological thriller - Coben has the brilliant knack of drawing you wholly into a character's life and their situations, and this was no exception. Fast paced and with perfect subplots, I did guess the twist but I thoroughly enjoyed this nevertheless.

Another fantastic thriller from Harlan Coben.

A favourite author of mine and another book that didn't disappoint at all.

Fast paced from start to finish, there's no let up in the pace at all.

Sami Kierce goes through one hell of a journey.

I really liked the narration style where you thought you were part of the jokes, with genuine humour and witty sarcasm throughout amongst all the action.

Sami runs a bit of an amateur detective club and the members add real humour and a variety of characters into the story to varying degrees.

It was an easy read and thoroughly enjoyable. I'll be looking forward to my next Harlan Coben book as always.

Many thanks for the ARC.

Nobody's Fool by Harlan Coban is a well paced and entertaining read. It is the second book in the Sami Kierce series, but easy to read as a stand-alone ( as I did)

Sami has a dark event in his past which has affected his entire life course- and this novel relates how he finally works out what occurred.

Sami's criminology students are a delightful addition to the investigation and eventual uncovering of the truth in various cases. There is plenty of suspense, pace and twists before the conclusion.

An author I will continue to seek out new titles from as his books guarantee a fantastic read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for eARC of this book.

Another fab read from Harlan Coben! Set a year after Fool Me Once, this is a gripping read from start to finish.
Sami is a brilliant character and his class of students are fabulous. This book is full of twists and a good few laughs along the way. Highly recommend!

The main character is Kierie a medical student involved with the college football team who meets Anna at a disco in Spain. They begin a relationship and She is a drug user and free spirit who quickly embroils Kierie in her world.
One day, after spending the night together, Kierie wakes up to find a bloodied knife in his hand and Anna lying dead next to him, having been brutally stabbed.

Kierie panics as you'd expect but knows deep down he wasn't capable of such a violent act so he goes to the police. Their investigation finds no body and no trace of blood or violence so Kierie is free to go.

Shortly after returning home on his Dad's advice there is a major incident in the news surrounding the disappearance of Victoria Belmondo, a local heiress.

Fast forward 11 years or so and Kierie's life has changed completely. He has given up on his dream of becoming a doctor and instead has become a cop. He's made a new life with Nicole, the love of his life who is subsequently killed. He's put away the person he believes to be responsible using some questionable methods as a result of which he has lost his job.

Picking himself up he decides to set up a Criminology 101 class which is a success. His life is upended one day when someone he believes to be dead walks back into his life. Superb thriller.
