Nick seems to be a charming guy who has it all but there is something amiss about it and Ash is determined to find out. A great thriller that kept me guessing

Another great novel from Lisa Jewell. I don’t know how she comes up with these stories. A man of many names, many questions with a need for answers. The flurry of lies will keep you entertained until the final chapter. You’ll start to believe some of those lies. Nick knows how to charm the women in his life, keeps them on the edge of their seats wondering when he’ll next be back. He starts to become friendly with a recent widow, knows everything about her but her daughter Ash thinks not all is as it seems. Brilliant, you’ll be sucked into the lies and won’t know what to believe.

Oh where to begin?! This has the most amazing set of characters, most of which were unlikable, I’m not sure who was worse, Nick et all, or the woman who were falling for it 🤦🏼‍♀️.

This kept my mind racing and at one point I though there’d might have been seperate characters and that a certain female was off on a crazy tangent!!

I really don’t know how people cope with having different lives, my noggin is mushed with just one. It was fascinating the attention to detail and fast thinking cover story’s which could be pulled from no where.

I did love the empowerment of the woman, especially with that ending! I’d also love to see more of Martha as she was my favourite.

A must read!

This is only the second book I've read by Lisa Jewell, but she's a keeper. This was an intriguing and thrilling read read that I binge read in about two days - after a really bad reading slump.
It was told in two timelines - the past and how he meets each woman and how their stories intertwine and present with everything colliding.
I loved how it made me feel things for all the characters - from hating the "bad guy", to wanting to shake some of the women into action to see the light and not accept the lines he was feeding them.
If you're looking for a binge worthy suspense book, look no further.

I blasted through this one in two days as Lisa Jewell has a wonderfully consistent knack of keeping you really invested in the plotting and characters. I genuinely found it difficult to pull myself away from this one when life and work inconveniently got in he way! The plotting is absolutely superb as we become more and more embroiled in the back story of the charming Nick Radcliffe who has insinuated himself into the life of Nina, a recent widow, but who arouses the suspicions of her emotionally delicate daughter Ash. It is a joy to watch Aisling become increasingly empowered as she begins to investigate this interloper into her family, and the book has much to say generally about the coercion, abuse and emotional trauma that women experience. As the story pivots effortlessly between timelines and narratives, with Jewell's trademark twists and turns, this is a guaranteed good read. Yep, really liked this one!

He's the perfect man.
He says he loves you.
You think he might even be made for you.
But if you looked back, you'd say to yourself:
Don't let him in

This year five star thrillers have been thin on the ground for me and my most anticipated reads have not been as good as expected. So thank you Lisa Jewell for delivering a fast paced five star read I was hoping for! This is a chunk of a read but I flew through it in no time. As usual I went into this book blind but I picked up where the story was heading straight away and I was fully invested from page one! A few people have found the start confusing as there are a fair few characters but for me I understood exactly what was going on and who was who immediately. I found the multiple storylines despite being interwoven from the past and present to be straightforward and as such I worked out everything early on but this didn't detract from my enjoyment. Personally I don't need unexpected twists to keep me reading, what I need is an unlikeable character that becomes more and more despicable the more you learn and this had that in spades! I hoped he would get his comeuppance but it was never guaranteed. Lisa Jewell has created one of the most deplorable characters I have ever read and I couldn't get enough of it! Don't Let Him In pulls at your heartstrings, makes you mad and keeps you on the edge of your seat which equates to one addictive read!

Online swindlers is not a new subject in fiction but Jewell gives it a fresh spin with her despicable main protagonist who goes by so many names it sounds quite exhausting to be a sociopathic con artist.
Told in the present and the past we follow him as he connects with middle-aged women with the end game of stealing their savings. A suave man in his 50s he has perfected the con to an art as he marries and discards women, blaming them for the end of the relationships and his need for more.
In his latest relationship he’s Nick and courting Nina, a woman who has just lost her husband. But things start changing when Ash, Nina’s daughter, becomes increasingly suspicious of his sudden arrival and love bombing and starts looking into him.
The tension is incredible and the plotting great but being in Nick’s head and listening to his take on the relationships starts feeling overwhelming. At times I wanted to fast forward through his many musings and would have liked to hear more from the women.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

this book is another Lisa Jewell hit. She knows exactly how to write a thriller/crime book. The characters are developed well over the period of the story. There is always a quirky side to the plot line that you never see co9ming!

The fact I started this in May and just finished it in June speaks volumes. I can devour your average length novel in 4 hours. I kept putting it down and really not wanting to come back to it. If it wasn’t an ARC from the publisher I’d not have finished this.

I’ve read lots of Lisa Jewell’s books and they are usually great. I was really surprised therefore with this novel. I’d never of believed this was Lisa Jewell if it wasn’t her name in the cover.

I hated the different POV’s and timeline switches. It was disordered and broke the flow of the reading journey. The characters are flat and one dimensional. Lots of cliches and tropes in this book also. This just flopped on so many levels. It jumped around so frequently that it became hard to follow.

Really disappointed with this latest from Lisa, I hope her next novel is a good one like prior books she has penned. I found this both boring and frustrating. I see a few similar reviews. I can’t give it more than 2 stars. 🌟

Don't Let Him In is packed with unpredictable twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages. The book introduces us to a chameleon-like con man, who systematically deceives women for years before moving on to his next target. Though I found it less dark than some of Jewell's previous novels, it maintained the same gripping tension and suspense, making it impossible to put down. For anyone who loves a good thriller, this one comes highly recommended.

Nick, a charming man, claiming to have been friends with Nina's recently deceased husband years ago, comes into her life. Ash, her daughter, can't put her finger on it. Nick is too good to be true... things don't add up..., whatever it is, something is just not sitting right with her. So, Ash takes it upon herself to dig around a bit. What she finds is rather unsettling and puts herself and her family at risk.

One of Lisa Jewel's finest books yet. Twisty, engaging and cleverly woven.

4.5⭐️ Absolutely the best book I’ve read by this author!

Nick thinks of himself as a good guy. He gives women what they want and what they desire.

There are a number of threads woven together here, and slowly Nick's story is revealed.

This is such an interesting and compelling book. I was hooked from the start. It made me feel so many different emotions, but it mainly it made me feel anger.

A typically twisty domestic noir from a writer who has proven herself a master of the genre.

In various interviews, Lisa Jewell has described this novel as a way for her to explore the sort of sociopathic man who is able to justify to himself all sorts of horrible behaviour towards women.

Told across three timelines, we meet a man who is constantly letting down his wife Martha after four years together - never being where he says he’ll be, and failing to show up for important events like New Year. We hear from the man himself four years earlier when he is leaving his wife Tara having fallen head-over-heels for Martha. And we get Ash’s perspective on her recently widowed mother’s new guy.

It’s Lisa Jewell, so it’s all very cleverly done, such that we find ourselves believing even the most unusual aspects of the story. After all, we know men like that are out there, and we do our best not to let them in.

One of the best anti-heroes I've read in a long, long time, and with a beautifully evoked setting of the Kent coast and the tender depictions of family and romantic relationships that LJ does so well. Long live the queen

Don’t Let Him In - Lisa Jewell

This is the type of book that if it were a television program, you’d shout at the T.v screen! Extremely well executed, a few miss spellings but I can deal with that. You see what’s happening before your eyes but there’s no getting through. I think I went through just about every single emotion possible.

If only everyone came with the warning “don’t let them in” … what a crazy world! But this shit actually happens.

Sadly not a good thriller for me. The timeline paired with the multiple pov became so confusing that I lost any care or support for any of the characters

Lisa Jewell has done it again! Another fantastic thriller filled with unpredictable twists and turns.

Don't Let Him In tells the story of a man who goes by many names, conning women for years at a time before he moves onto his next victim. I found this book was a lot less dark than others I've read from Lisa Jewell, but still just as gripping and tense. I literally couldn't put it down, if I'd had the time I think I would've read it in one sitting!

I especially really appreciated the ending - knowing that he did eventually get his comeuppance felt like the perfect ending to me and I'm really glad she didn't leave it open-ended. I will definitely be recommending this to anyone who likes a thriller.

After Nina’s husband dies in tragic circumstances she starts seeing Nick Radcliffe, a man who claims to have known and worked with her late husband back in the nineties. Nina’s daughter, Ash thinks Nick is too good to be true and starts digging around in his past.
Martha is married to Alistair and they have a lovely life together until he starts disappearing for long stretches at a time with little to no explanation as to where he has been.
These two women’s lives are about to collide unexpectedly as Nick Radcliffe and Alistair are the same man.
This book is different to Lisa Jewels previous work as in I wouldn’t say it’s a thriller, more of a family drama with a lot of characters. While it was different I still quite enjoyed it and I liked the ending.

'Don't Let Him In' felt different to the usual Lisa Jewell thriller - but just as entertaining! I think the difference was that the plot itself was pretty straightforward, even though the structure was quite complex. I found the opening chapters and the shifting characters/timeline to be a little confusing at first, but after a few chapters I got used to the format and was once again in awe of Lisa Jewell's writing skills.

Plot-wise, 'Don't Let Him In' is ideal for anyone fascinated by the manipulative pathologies on show in stories like Dirty John (podcast/TV), Sweet Bobby etc.
