I do think this is officially my last Elle Kennedy book. Part of it is because I don't love her writing style but I almost always have serious criticisms, The Charlie Method included.
The characterisation was completely all over the place. The idea of Charlie/Charlotte being two different people in her mind is interesting in concept but I'm not convinced that Kennedy has the skill to pull it off.
The romance itself was so boring, watching paint dry on a wall would have been more thrilling. There was a lot of telling but not showing in the romance - "oh I dont do feelings, but she's super hot and I'm really drawn to her"... like, okay? It's dull. There was no heat jumping off the page, no tension, no nothing. The reason I'm always excited to see M/F/M romances is because when you add a third person to the dynamic there's infinite potential for the relationships but this one didn't work at all.
Kennedy attempts to add depth to the story with the fact that Charlotte is an adopted Korean American. As someone who isn't a person of colour and isn't adopted, I'm happy to be corrected, but the conversation lacked nuance and sometimes felt borderline inappropriate. It relied too heavily on stereotypes without saying anything interesting or meaningful about inter-race adoption. I think the inclusion was handled maybe not with bad intentions but certainly in poor taste and without the necessary experience to back it up.
I did go into this with high expectations as I enjoyed the other two books in this series but I fear that this completely missed the mark. 1.5 stars.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc.

Sweet Jesus. Pour me a glass of milk for that spice. So Three really is the magic number. Book three. Three POVs. And so on…
We really get our Will and Beckett book, Cover to cover.
The plot is completely unique. A modern day romance, a love letter to twenty first century relationships.
This story also deals with important feelingly of belonging and self discovery.

I am obsessed with the Briar U universe. I have reread every book multiple times, and I was so looking forward to Will’s book. But sadly I didn’t enjoy this one.
MFM is a love / hate trope and sadly, I am in the hate category. I had hoped that based on the earlier books in the series, that it would be a bit of messing around between Will, Beck and Charlie, but ultimately it would end up with Charlie choosing one of them. I didn’t enjoy the dynamic of two boyfriends…
This was definitely Elle’s spiciest book that I’ve read, and I found it took over from the plot at times.
I’m so sad that I didn’t enjoy this one 😭
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Charlie Method is the highly anticipated third book in the Campus Diaries series by Elle Kennedy.
I absolutely adored this entertaining MFM romance between Will, Beckett and Charlotte. I really liked the relationship dynamics and how they progressed throughout the story. Charlotte (aka Charlie) was a beautifully intricate character and I found myself become incredibly invested in her life. I thought that the adoption element of her life was handled with care and realistic of the struggles one might face.
Overall, The Charlie Method was yet another incredible book by Elle Kennedy and I cannot wait to read more from this series.

I absolutely love Elle Kennedy and this spin off series is perfect if you love her “world” of books and are looking to pick up new characters and storylines. I love that because most of her books the characters feel like friends so it’s nice to see new stories develops based around that!
