Another great book in the The Dog Park Detective series. Louise and friends are back and after they discover a dead man on a bench on the canal, they work together to figure out who the killer is. I love that the story is set in Tower Hamlets as it’s where I’m from too. There are twists and turns during their investigation which keep you guessing. I would say the only thing missing is a long haired chihuahua called Luna (my dog lol) An absolutely brilliant read!

I can’t believe it’s been 10 months since I picked up a copy of Blake Mara’s Dog Park Detectives. The characters and storyline stuck in my head, it felt like a recent read. I was excited therefore to find a new instalment published. In the previous novel, we met the group of dog owners that all make use of the same dog walking park in the East End neighbourhood. While their conversations mostly centred around their respective dogs, they were drawn together to solve the mystery when a body is found in the dog park.

When one of the dog owners, Yaz,  finds a body sat on a park bench, on her regular morning run, the group are once again pulled into the action.

The chicken bone lodged in the victim's throat points towards the new fast food takeaway that’s opened in the neighbourhood and brought with it nothing but trouble. Intimidating clientele leave the neighbours afraid and unsafe, and inconsistencies about the council allowing another takeaway to open in the area raise questions that the pack want answers to. Louise and her beloved dachshund Klaus find themselves drawn into the mystery, as one of their pack is arrested for the murder.

Cosy mysteries are usually set in idyllic country villages so it’s refreshing to see a mystery set in the inner city. The characters feel like old friends, flaws and all, and I adore the canine cast. The mystery feels modern and relatable, and I’m intrigued as to where the pack will lead us next.

The pack are back! When Yaz stumbles across a dead body whilst walking her dog, she calls Louise for moral support whilst waiting for the Police. This was because Louise had experience of this 6 months before.
They promise that they won't get involved this time. That is until Claire is taken in for questioning as she knew the dead man.
So follows a trail of red herrings and dangerous deeds.
This is a very readable book and a good page turner.

Quick, fun if not slightly odd read. Loved the dog element as always great sequel. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy

The Dog Park Detectives are back with another crime to solve. The gang can't help themselves to involve themselves when a body is found on a bench by the canal with chicken bones around him and one in his throat! Could this be connected to the new chicken takeaway? Who performed the deed? Why? How is everything connected? The Pack are asking the right questions and this leads them on a hunt to find the culprit, even though, they are warned off by the police. The story is full of twists and turns with a few red herrings thrown in and the ending came as a total surprise to me.

Having enjoyed reading book one in the series, I was thrilled to be able to catch up with the pack again.

More deaths, secrets, dogs and community supporting each other. Loved finding out how the dogs and their humans were coping after the last crime wave. Not sure I fancy fried chicken anymore (no bad thing) but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Now looking forward to book 3

Ok, so I must admit ... I didn't remember much about the human characters from the first book, but reading about the doggos was like coming home to my pack. This sequel was a quick and often fun read, with a clever mystery at its core. I loved it, and am excited for the next one!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
