This was a strong third entry in the Wolf of Kings series, it had that element that I enjoyed from the previous two books. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the historical setting going on. The plot was everything that I was looking for and worked with the romance element to this. I was engaged and invested in what was going on. Richard Cullen has a strong writing style and I hope to read more from this series and author.

A historical novel which covers part of an era not often covered.
It follows Strykar as he fights against the rule of the Conqueror during the period known as the harrying of the north and the Saxons final stand at Ely.
A good read in which the two main protagonists both try to come to terms with their lives in a world turned upside down and lacking compassion and mercy.

I think I learned about England's Dark Ages and Middle Age reading historical fiction novels as they're always well researched and featuring a vivid historical background.
This is an excellent one: action paced, fast paced, fleshed out characters. Liked the storytelling.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Cullen is on a role with these Historical adventures! I have to be honest here, I missed the first two books in this series, but even so, I thoroughly enjoyed Winter Warrior and had no trouble following along. If Cullen didn't explain it himself, it was either self explanatory or I did a web search on any questions I may have had. Styrkar is a magnificent character and I know I must start from the beginning to learn his full scope. Ronan is the slimy, dirty dealing kind of character you love to hate. This is already the second book of Richard Cullen's I've read this year, the other being Crusade, so I think this is going to be a banner year for Historical Novels!
