I received a free digital ARC through Netgalley. I read Suzanne Woods Fisher's nonamish books whenever they come out. This one has such a unique setting. It was fun to learn about the national park.

This was my first book by Suzanne Woods Fisher, but it for sure won’t be my last!

Kate Cooper is a zoo photographer, known for her quirky captions. She wants to be know for more though, and National Geographic has told her if she can get a picture of a well known grizzly bear, they might publish it. So, off she goes to the National Park, not knowing what she’s getting herself into. These other photographers are serious and intimidating and nickname her the “zoo girl” - add to that her boyfriend is calling and asking when she’ll be done and be back home (not the most supportive guy). Will she be able to get the picture and prove herself?

Grant Cooper is a part time park ranger during the summer when he’s not teaching. He loves it, and he loves the bears, but this summer he’s been tasked with keeping an eye on a teenager and keeping the photographers from getting too close to the animals. Although he wouldn’t mind getting a little closer to Kate 😉

On top of everything, there’s a possible poacher in the park, and they’re all doing what they can to make sure no animals are harmed. Assumptions are made. Relationships are damaged. Big gestures take place. And a huge twist is thrown in. It had me not wanting to put it down (or, to stop my audiobook..) I was fully invested and loved every second.

The characters are all so fun - and there’s quite a few! They all bring their own unique personality to the story and I loved getting to know them all! This book had me ready to book a trip to the mountains and enjoy all the scenery too!

Read this if you want to read an outstanding romantic suspense fiction story, with lots of fascinating layers to it! Kate is new to being a wildlife photographer, yet she travels to work at the Grand Teton National Park Wyoming. Her goal is to shoot a first picture of the year of the legendary, beloved bear famously known as #399.The tale is really masterfully written, with characters who appreciate the park. The plot is surprising, and the characters' insights gained, and the role of faith are naturally woven into the story result in a book hard to put down!
I very much appreciate reading this advance reader copy from the editors, The views expressed are my own.

My first read by Suzanne Woods Fisher, I was initially drawn to the captivating cover and breathtaking setting, as well as the photography angle (retired professional photographer here) of this novel. I enjoyed how Fisher’s descriptions of the landscape, wildlife, and the rhythms of life inside Grand Teton National Park truly brought the stunning location to life with expert detail.

This story features multiple 3rd person POVs, from a wide range of characters including a naive but ambitious photographer, a grumpy ranger (whom I enjoyed), a senior ranger, and a few younger characters., including a boy-crazy pre-teen. The shifting perspectives kept the pace quick, though at times I found myself wanting to skip ahead since the narrative was repetitive at times. While there was a lot going on, there was a light romantic thread and touches of humor, however the suspense felt forced to me and was mild, compared to what I'm used to reading.

While I appreciated the educational angle woven into the story, especially the focus on wildlife protection and the behind-the-scenes reality of working as a park ranger, the story leaned heavily into technical details, pulling me out of the narrative. There were also a handful of outdated phrases and words that didn't tie well with the age and generation of the main characters.

Overall, I believe fans of national parks, wildlife preservation, and ranger life may find a lot to enjoy in this story. While I didn’t connect with the main characters, I can see how readers who enjoy immersive nature settings and character-driven stories with a gentle suspense element might appreciate this one—especially those who favor a classic storytelling style. Give this one a try for yourself and see what you think!

I really enjoyed this novel set in the Grand Tetons. Kate has found her dream job of photography even if her family and boyfriend don’t approve of this as a career. She jumps on the change of a lifetime and heads to the Grand Teton National Park to get the ultimate shot of bear 399 for National Geographic. This will make or break her as a photographer. But when she gets to the park, she can hardly believe how rude the other photographers are towards her. They make fun of the fact that she has only really shot animals in a zoo and that she has no idea that shooting animal photos in the wild is a completely different photography. Bound to make it work, she tries to learn the rules and works to stay away from the others, but they already know all the good spots to take shots from. Ranger Coop feels bad for her, and does his best to guide her and give her hints on how to get some of the best shots. Everyone is focused on bear 399 and yet she hasn’t shown herself. The park seems to keep closing sections down and it feels like she will never get her shot of a lifetime. Besides that, her boyfriend has been quite insistent she get her shot and get back home to him, and then he shows up at the park. Coop promises to help Kate get her shot of the lifetime but with a poacher in the park and now Kate’s boyfriend showing up, it seems to have thrown things into chaos. Will Kate be able to get that shot she needs to advance her career and will Coop be able to keep everyone and bear 399 safe from the threat amongst them? I loved that this novel had some suspense, I loved the various characters and chatty Maisie, as well as the wonderful scenery of this park. Thank you to the author and Revell for the complementary novel. This review is of my own opinion and accord.

I was drawn to this book because it takes place in Grand Teton National Park. There are a lot of different povs in this story. The two main characters are Kate and Coop. I really liked Kate and her perseverance to get the photo of the bear, even though others doubted her ability. I also liked Coop and his willingness to help her. There is a poacher in this story and he is the villain. I will say I did not see who it was coming so the author did a great job with that. I also enjoyed the secondary characters. There were a couple minor things I didn’t love but overall this was a great story and I recommend!

Capture the Moment is a wonderful, fun novel that you don’t want to miss from an amazing author that I love!! This is book one of a new series that is about the National Parks.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It read quickly. The characters are wonderful. Although I’m not sure I want to meet the bear. I’ve actually never seen a live and in the wild bear before. Though black bears are coming back to our area, there aren’t that many yet. One has been spotted about two hours from us, though, and I can’t wait to see one in the wild!

Maisie is such a fun character and a bright spot in the book.

Grant is a teacher nine months of the year, and during the summer, he is a park ranger. This summer, he has to stay in the more populated areas. He prefers secluded, fewer people, more animals areas. I’m with him on this. I’d rather be around animals than people. Introverts unite.

Kate (also known as Zoo Girl) is off to get the best photo this season. She wants to be published. She’s a zoo photographer, but she’s hoping for more. Join her as she sets off to capture animals in the wild!

You’re going to love this book! I cannot wait for more in this series!

Suzanne Woods Fisher is always an auto-read for me! I've loved everything she's written whether it's about the Amish or a just a "regular" contemporary romance fiction. National Parks have always intrigued me so when I saw this was her latest I knew I needed to check it out since I haven't been to Grand Teton National Park yet.

Kate Cunningham who has only done zoo photography is now on the hunt for Bear #399 and wants to capture something different from everyone else. Ranger "Coop" is a teacher during the school year and park ranger during the summers. He can't help but like Kate when he meets her. I loved their interactions, how he tried to help her find what she was looking for and the mystery behind the poaching. Frankie, Ranger Tim and his teen grand-daughter Maisie were lovely characters as well.

I am definitely looking forward to more in this series!

Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this national park novel. It has wild animals, beautiful scenery, quirky characters, suspense, and plenty of drama. The tale draws you in and captures you, to quote from the title. We witness growth in many characters, from a thirteen-year-old girl to a wildlife photographer trying to break in to the big time, to a troubled youth, and of course, the rangers we encounter. The story includes a major surprise I didn’t see coming, but adds depth to the tale. And we learn some fun facts along the way. Set in Grand Teton National Park, if you enjoy nature and/or photography, you won’t want to miss this book. The author did a great job weaving all the threads into a powerful account that doesn’t let you go until everything is settled at the end. It’s a wonderful summer read and would make a fine book club choice. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #CapturetheMoment #NetGalley

The cover caught my attention since I enjoy taking photos as well. Kate, also known as Zoo Girl, has experience as a zoo photographer and she decided to expand her skills to the wilderness of Grand Teton National Park. There is a famous grizzly bear here that is late coming out and everyone is not patiently waiting. It is here that the story unfolds as Kate wants to get that one unique shot, and meets Ranger Cooper. He is helpful in many ways to those around him. Which is a good thing as Kate has a knack for getting herself into blunders. Kate is determined not to let the other professional photographers get under her skin as they all wake up with the birds and wait for wildlife to emerge. I didn’t know professional photography was so competitive. There is a big age-range cast of characters with quite the different personalities and circumstances. There also looms a poacher with a history, and he is sneaky as a snake and wily as a coyote. And don’t forget young meddling Maisie. There is a nice twist at the end. If you love nature like I do, this cozy and light-hearted story will have you wishing you could live there. I received this e-book for free from Celebrate Lit Tour and the opinions I express are honest and my own.

I enjoyed this story very much. Fisher is a new to me author with this book, but I’m going to certainly keep an eye out for the rest of this series especially, and her backlist. I was drawn to this book by the stunning cover and the National Park focus. But once I started reading I was captured by the beauty described, all the things I was learning about wildlife photography, and the suspense elements with the poacher intent on 399. The romance is slow burn at first understandably, because Kate has a boyfriend and Grant has some baggage to work through, but as the book progresses I was rooting for them more and more and when we get there the reward is so sweet. Maisie was a surprise delight and even Frankie- he grew on me so much by the end! These characters were so well-developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. I enjoyed the emotional growth- especially with Kate and Grant. The plot twist was so well done and in hindsight I definitely see it but it definitely caught me by surprise in the best way.

This was such a wonderful adventure! The story quickly pulled me in, and I loved the picturesque setting. Fisher does an incredible job of pulling the reader into the action, and the characters were a joy to meet. I loved that the story was about a nature photographer and a seasonal park ranger who was also a teacher. It's an interesting mix of skills and roles, and yet the blend of ordinary and original works so well in the story, and really made them feel like normal everyday people. We all know those people with impressive hidden talents or that really cool job that sort of sets them apart? Yeah, this was sort of like that, and I loved that added layer of creativity here. Well, with some pretty cool jobs! I don't see much talk about nature photographers, or even really much about National Parks and related themes in books, and when it's in a suspense books usually it's just the location the characters happen to find themselves, not nearly as intentional. I loved that about this story, and Fisher's writing and masterful skill with writing loveable and unique characters worked together perfectly to bring readers an unforgettable story!

My husband and I have recently been talking about some of our amazing vacations. A few years back we had a motorhome. We loaded up our 2 dogs and cat and off we went outwest. We saw some beautiful places but The Grand Tetons was my favorite. Words can't describe how majestic it is.

How excited I was when I saw that this book was set there. It allowed me to revisit that wonderful vacation.

Kate had the opportunity to really prove that photography was her future. So she loaded up her vehicle with dreams of the possibilities before her.

Cooper worked part-time in The Tetons during the summer. This was his happy place. A time to regroup before he returned to teach high school in the Fall.

The location as well as the plot kept me up to 3:00 am last night. I feel yucky today but I couldn't put this book down. I loved it. The supporting characters were entertaining. I loved the ending. I won't tell but you have to read this.

I enjoyed this story. I liked that it was set in the Grand Teton National Park and that we got to experience what the place is like along with the characters. I also like the respect that Kate and Coop had for the animals and park and that they worked together in their own way to protect it. I liked their relationship and how they helped each other understand things from different perspectives. I also liked how they did what they could to protect the bears. I thought this was a good story with a beautiful setting.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

The book is perfect for fans of clean romance books and it follows Kate who has an opportunity of a lifetime but all it requires is for her to take a picture of a legendary bear. What follows is an adventure filled with self discovery ,Grant Cooper and grit. Absolutely enjoyed this read.

Being a wildlife photographer sounds like a dream job to me. As an amateur photographer, I love the majestic imagery of flora and fauna, so Capture the Moment spoke to me from its blurb.

There is a lot to this story, in that there seems to be many characters roles and subplots. At first, it was all a bit confusing, but as I began to sink into the story I saw how everyone’s roles fell into place.

I haven’t physically been to Grand Teton National Park, but this story took me there. I could easily imagine the beautiful landscape and being the one to get just the right frame of Bear 399.

There are several great characters in search of something, but Coop’s journey spoke to me the loudest. I loved the scenery, mystery, sweet growing romance, and the threads of faith that tie everything together. I can’t wait to ‘visit’ the next National Park in the series.

Suzanne Woods Fisher's contemporary books are must read/buys for me. So when I saw she was coming out with a series based in the National Parks, I knew it would be good. This story is filled with nature, mystery & romance (several stories of romance actually!) It kept me wanting to know more & was hard to put down when I had things to do. If you love national parks, I think you will enjoy this one!

“God speaks not in a fire, not in an earthquake, but in a whisper.” ❤️

I was so excited to jump into this book knowing it was focused around national parks and wildlife photography and boy, it did not disappoint! You’re immediately immersed into the nature-filled setting and you never leave it, which I loved so very much. I also knew I’d like Kate from the very first chapter because she had the faith and hope of a mustard seed when it came to setting out in accomplishing what she was wanting to achieve in her time at the Grand Teton National Park 🐻🤎 I appreciated Coop so much, as he was your typical grumpy guy turned secret sweetheart and that’s just so admirable!

The supporting characters Tim, Sally, Frankie and oohhh my sweet Maisie were all so wonderful in their own ways as well. This story also had a touch of suspense/action that I was hooked on from the start - I will say I had a hunch about one of the plot twists which turned out to be correct. But I did not guess any of the other plot twists?! 😱 Oh my goodness, what a fun and wild ride as things got revealed. I also appreciated the ending for everyone, as I felt everything concluded in a well-rounded manner. My favorite thing was the reoccurring theme of trusting in God’s plan and showing personal resilience throughout doing so. 🙏🏼❤️

“399…Queen of the Tetons…”
“‘A living, breathing legend.’ ‘Exactly. She’s a symbol of the wild, a reminder that even in the heart of nature, there are stories, personalities, and connections waiting to be discovered.’”

And…we’re off on a journey to visit some of our nation’s great national parks with Suzanne Woods Fisher, told in her gentle, heart-warming style. First stop in this new series, National Parks Summers, is Grand Tetons National Park, in Capture the Moment.

If you are a fan of nature, underdogs, Suzanne Woods Fisher, plot twists, and gentle reminders to listen to the still, small voice of God, this is a must-read.

I adored the novice photographer, Kate, who thought she would get the original photo that no one else had. What a shock she gets when she arrives at the best viewing spots for the old grizzly, 399, only to discover a great crowd of disdainful professional photographers ahead of her. Fortunately, Kate is willing to learn from her mistakes and not wallow in her failures. ( And being a city-slicker, there are plenty!) “She reminded herself that mistakes were a natural part of the learning process. “Each one has a lesson to teach,” she said to herself.” Another verse that helps her when she is amazed at her own obtuseness( and don’t most of us have blinders on in some area of life?) is “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Do you not perceive it?” What I love about this moment is that Woods points out this is a verse God brings to Kate’s mind because she had hidden it in her heart long ago. Do we have verses like that? Second, are we, as we age, still working on memorizing, so God can bring those verses to mind?

Woods populates her novel with so many other wonderful characters! Of course, everyone will love Coop! How can you not! Handsome, knowledgeable, expert on bears, and compassionate. He champions Kate, the underdog, plus he understands and mentors the impossibly belligerent Frankie. This is no small feat, because it is obvious he would rather not have this sidekick 24-7! And, he is unafraid to tell the truth as it is… to those that need to hear it… which his acting director, Sally, tries to silence.

Sally. She is acting director of the park, and a piece of work! I was surprised to find that I didn’t like her any more after a night of “sleeping on it” than I did when I finished the story.

And Tim and his granddaughter, Maisie! To meet Tim is to love him, unless you are Frankie. Such a wise, thoughtful, man rooted in faith. His granddaughter, Maisie, who frequently gets dumped on him? She’s 13, loquacious, loud, and goes non-stop 24-7. Everyone seems to have a love-avoid her relationship with her. Maisie wants so hard to be accepted, loved, and seen as special. Pops finally tells her on one occasion when she takes imitation overboard,
“a tulip doesn’t struggle to be different from a rose.”

Bonus note: With a great detailed map of the park at the beginning and a list of the most important characters also at the beginning, I felt well-armed to tackle the book.

I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit via NetGalley. I bought my own pb copy for my keeper shelf. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Notable Quotables:

“she realized that seeing things differently was a gift, not a burden.”

“But holding on to anger isn’t doing you any favors.”…“It’s like a poison.”…“Forgiveness is the antidote.”

“what you’re looking for can’t be found within. Only outside ourselves. Only in God.”

“…he didn’t have to hang on to that hurt anymore.”
