Nellie Lamar delivers a gripping and suspenseful tale in All My Lies, a novel that explores the idea of karma in unexpected and chilling ways. With a unique plot and masterful storytelling, Lamar keeps readers captivated from start to finish. The writing is engaging, ensuring that every twist and turn lands with full impact.

One of the novel’s strongest elements is its well-structured pacing. Rather than overwhelming readers with information all at once, Lamar unravels the story in layers, allowing the tension to build gradually. This approach keeps the suspense high and the reader fully invested. And just when you think you have things figured out, a shocking twist takes the story in an entirely new direction—one that will leave you on edge, biting your nails in anticipation.

All My Lies is a standout thriller that offers originality, tension, and a satisfying unraveling of secrets. It’s a must-read for fans of psychological suspense, and Lamar proves herself to be an author worth watching.

This books will keep you on your toes! I love that the main character wasn’t perfect, she was flawed in many ways but in the end you still root for her. The twists in Part 3 and the epilogue were unexpected! Would recommend this book to people who enjoy books such as Frieda McFaddens.

The story revolves around sloan who wants to be an author, but is also a scatter brained klutz who lives in her own chaotic little world, and follows the lengths she will go to in order to achieve her dreams.
It's a very twisty story, with a bit of a slow start, its definitely worth a read.

From the very first page, *All My Lies* had me hooked. Nelle Lamarr’s writing style is sharp and staccato-like, creating a rhythm that has you quickly turning pages at. The structure makes the story feel both dynamic and incredibly digestible, pulling you right into the heart of the narrative.

The pacing was nonstop and made for an exhilarating ride. It’s the kind of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, making it nearly impossible to put down.

An exquisitely written and utterly captivating thriller! Nelle’s storytelling evokes Freida’s style, yet her narrative shines with her own unique creativity, intricate detail, and a magnetic energy that pulls you right in. This twisty tale boasts a brilliant ending that leaves you craving more, and the clever pop culture references offer a fun real-time feel. Absolutely delightful—I can’t wait to read more of her books!

For my first psychological thriller of the year, I started with All My Lies by Nelle Lamarr. I was granted a chance to read this prior to its release date 2/20/2025, and I am beyond exited and grateful I did. Its said, if you are a fan of Frieda McFadden, Riley Sager and Lisa Jewell, this is a book for you. I personally have only read from Freida McFadden, but I honestly loved this book. The twists and turns kept me intrigued, and the chapters were short which made the process that much more gripping.

All Sloan White wanted out of life was to be an author. She works for the bestselling author Barbara Van Wyck as her PA, and sure it might not be the best job and she may not be the best boss, but Sloan feels she is getting somewhere in the writing business. Just as long as she sticks it out a little bit longer. However, one day she was provided with a chance to make her dream come true, and she was not going to let this dream slip away. However, how she got to where she is , is a secret she can never tell.

After finally writing a best selling thriller novel, and falling in love with her high school crush, it seems that her secret is coming up and threatening to pull the rug out from under her. She has a stalker threatening her every which way she goes, and she has no were to hide. Because even in the place she thought was the safest, that is where the most harm comes.

I found this to be not just chilling and spooky in parts, but also very entertaining. The Story read pretty fast, and I enjoyed the multiple parts to help break up the story and the timeline. I will add Nelle Lamarr’s backlog and future books in my TBR and am excited to see her next book.

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this one! I’ve never read anything by Nelle Lamarr before, the style very much reminds me of Frieda McFadden and we all know I’m a big fan of hers!

The story was a bit of a slow burn to begin with but soon got more pacy. I imagine some may say the plot was a bit predictable, it was, but I don’t mind that at all.

I thought Sloan was a fascinating character, multi-faceted and very well written.

This is a really fun read, I highly, highly recommend!

All my Lies is packed with Lamarr’s signature fast pace and suspense. It was a page-turner and I was roped in until then very end. An important distinction in Lamarr’s stories are her extremely unlikeable characters. There is at least one in every book and this is no exception. This creates a uncomfortable and disturbing atmosphere, which sets her a apart from others. Agreasy, unsettling feeling descended upon me as I read through the dispicable actions throughout the book. Great psychological thriller and great author.

A fun read that takes you on a ride. With an interesting premise there is great potential here! I did feel like the story drug on a bit and wish some of the story that seemed unnecessary could have been taken out but I did really enjoy overall!

All my lies - 3.75/5

I wanted to give this book a 4/5 however, I felt that at times, the story dragged just a teeny bit. Other than that, I really enjoyed the tone in which it was written and the descriptions of Maplewood in particular. From my perspective, this is part cosy crime, part thriller and I think it achieves that balance quite well. Whilst it wasn’t a super fast paced, page turner, it definitely does leave you asking questions that make you want to read on.

Overall really enjoyed reading this, thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book!

Unfortunately I did not enjoy the writing style at all and found this to be both predictable and over the top. Just really didn't hit for me at all--I think this author is not for me.

Sloan has always wanted to be a writer. When she finds her cruel boss, a famous author, dead with a completed manuscript in front of her, she jumps at the opportunity. After getting the life she’s always wanted, the threats start to come. Someone knows. The premise is one I like but the story gets a bit bogged down. The short chapters are the right length for a fast paced read though. Besides the theft of the book, Sloan has a secret from her teenage years that’s hinted along the way. That kept me motivated to read too. At about the half way mark the twists & revelations lead to a gothic vibe. Overall it’s not a bad mystery, I just felt the elements didn’t gel together for me smoothly. So the book can be a bit disjointed. The epilogue (which I suspected earlier) just did not work that late in the book. There’s enough here that I think readers can truly enjoy, it’s just not a gigantic recommend from me.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC of All My Lies.

Overall, I was intrigued by the idea of this book and it had great potential but I think it could have been executed a lot better. The writing seemed a bit childish at times. The overall flow of the story got a bit confusing but also predictable at the time… And what was that epilogue?

I still felt semi entertained most of the story so that’s a plus.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of All My Lies by Nelle Lamarr.

We are following Sloan White, the personal assistant to a best-selling and esteemed thriller author. When her boss suddenly passes away on NYE, she takes the finished manuscript on her typewriter as a special Christmas gift to herself.

The premise of this book was so strong- and reminded me of the beginning of Yellow Face (R.F. Kuang), with a vibe and plot devices similar to Freida McFadden. I appreciate the attempts at laid-back humor, and a story that has plot movement!

Unfortunately, the writing of this book could have used several rounds of line edits. It was distracting at best, and cringey at worst. One concrete example of this might be: the narrator referring to herself as "clumsy me," "stupid me," "silly me," "uncoordinated me" and "accident-prone me"- so often, that it would rip me from the story each time.

Overall, I think this story could have been a 3 star for me as a pretty good thriller, with some minimal plot-spoiling concerns midway through the book. Unfortunately, it landed where published works that still need heavy editing always land for me: in 1-2 star territory..

Thank you again to NetGalley for this advanced read!

[2.5 stars]

Sloan dreams of being a writer. Unfortunately, she's stuck working for her horrible boss, Barbara Van Wyck, the town's prolific thriller author. That is until she returns back to Barbara's mansion after running errands. Barbara was killed during that short window of time - and has conveniently left behind her completed manuscript right on her desk. Naturally, Sloan takes the manuscript and does some minor edits to make it her own. Sloan is finally a writer - and a successful one at that. However, soon after her book takes off, she begins receiving threats. Someone out there knows what Sloan did and they're going to make her pay. When Sloan is propositioned for a second novel, the threats increase and her life is truly in danger. Will Sloan be able to continue living out her dream as an author or will her lies catch up to her?

The synopsis really drew me in. However, the writing and the actual plot was...not good. Sloan was easily the most annoying main character I have ever encountered. She really missed some big red flags that would have made this book a whole lot shorter. Some parts of the story were very predictable and were almost painful to get through. However, the last 15% of the book was the best part (not just because it was almost over). This is where all of the action and actual good parts of the story lived. If the author structured the rest of the book in this way, it easily would have been 4 stars. The book was a fast read, I'll give it that. However, if you go in not expecting much, maybe you'll like it better than I did. It does have some Freida-esque qualities (and came highly recommended by her), so if you're a fan, you may like this one. Overall, I can't recommend this book as it feels rushed and generally underdeveloped.

When Sloan's boss, a famous author is murdered, Sloan steals the manuscript she was writing and publishes it as her own. Sloan begins receiving threats and feels like she is being stalked. Meanwhile she has rekindled a high school romance with her long lost love, Logan. Ok, this was just too much for me. Sloan never asks Logan any questions about what he is doing or where he has been. As there really weren't any other characters, Logan was obvious from the beginning for me. I just wasn't very impressed with this. The characters did not have much substance, and once Logan kidnapped Sloan, I was pretty much done, ugh! Thank you, NetGalley!

All My Lies by Nelle Lamarr 5⭐️

This book reeled you in from the very first page. Completely Unputdownable!

When her horrible boss is murdered, it’s the perfect opportunity for Sloan steal the manuscript and publish it as her own, and that’s exactly what she does! Before she knows it, she’s a published author but soon after she begins to receive threatening letters. Someone knows what she’s done and it’s not who you think!

While Sloan is morally gray (mostly gray) I thought she was very likable and almost relatable.

When you have a heroine who does something bad, it can be difficult to warm to her. But not with Sloan. She’s a warm, at times hilarious protagonist, who has done one stupid, impulsive thing, resulting in huge, positive life changes. Until that is, everything goes wrong.

Nelle Lamarr has outdone herself with this book, which had me racing to turn the pages. With a hugely engaging writing style and multi-layered characters, this psychological thriller cleverly combines heart-racing twists with elements of humour. This is a super fast-paced story that will stay with me for a very long time.

Thank you to Nelle Lamarr, Inkubator Books and Netgalley for my advance copy.
