<i>We've Always Got New York<i> is a sequel to <i>What Happens to Men When They Move to Manhattan?<i> I didn't know this before accepting the book nor had I read the first installment of the series. Probably a strike in my favor.
After reading other reviews, it was clear that the majority of others had read the first book. Unfortunately, this book isn't really meant to be a standalone. I felt like I was missing something throughout. I never really got a vested interest in the characters prior to reading this and missed any opportunity for a connection.
I will give credit where credit is due. I did gain a bit of an understanding of the characters and their personalities. Enough so that the cliffhanger that ended the book (yes there is a major desire to pick up book 3 because of this) makes me want to know the answer to the unanswered question. But maybe just enough to skim to find the answer.
So in short, start the series from the beginning. You might really like it!
