This was a fun, fast-paced read with humor, mystery, and a touch of the paranormal. Rune, cursed with premonitions no one believes, has learned to hide her abilities. Donovan, a grumpy, logical man, is unexpectedly drawn to her. Their relationship shifts from tension to romance, though the insta-love felt a bit rushed.

While the mystery was engaging, I guessed the villain early, and the dark elements in Rune’s past felt heavier than necessary. Donovan’s repeated distrust of Rune became frustrating, making me wish she would stand up to him more. That said, Rune’s resilience and the evolving dynamic between them kept me hooked.

Despite some flaws, the story was entertaining, and I’d be interested in exploring more from this world—maybe a book for Cooper next?

This book had a lot of potential, there was a great hook event and immediate slow burn spice introduced with an enemies-to-lovers, forbidden office romance, but honestly, it went downhill from there for me. I just lost interest, the story tried to take on so much so quickly that the characters felt disingenuous. There were lots of different genres and vibes introduced which is both a positive and negative - everything from rom-com to comedy to creepy paranormal suspense. The plot twists were not as surprising as I was hoping for and everything about Rune's backstory felt cliche and recycled. Rune as a FMC was honestly annoying, I kept wanting to root for her and sympathize with her and there were moments but then she would do something helpless and whiny, even in her most "powerful" moments she always was relying on someone else to intervene. I really wanted to like this one but it was just "meh" for me.
This book is for you if you like:
- paranormal romance
- witches (& more)
- slow burn
- small town romance
- workplace romance
- forbidden romance

You had me at Stars Hollow meets Charmed. Mixing a quirky small town with amazing characters, witches, magic, and romcom is literally the story my dreams are made of! I loved every page and I found myself completely immersed inside this story.

3.5 star read! This is a witchy romance with a HEA. It took me a long time to read this one. I did end up enjoying it but there was something about this book that was hard for me to get into at first. I can’t put my finger on what.

Rune has a gift, but along with that gift she is cursed that nobody ever believes she has the gift. It makes for a lot of misunderstandings and chaos.

I love how the town comes together at the end! Witches really do stick together.

This was an ARC read from Netgalley and Black Orchid Books. Thank you for the opportunity!

This book was a cute, quick read, but I didn't love it. The FMC is cursed, she has these odd premonitions, but no one will believe what she sees (hello Cassandra!) She grew up in the town that she lives in and she's had a rough life. There's a very dark backstory that we learn more of further along, but I felt like maybe the author didn't need to make it quite as dark as it was and I didn't feel like this incredibly dark, sad element really served all that much of a purpose; it helped with a few minor details, but I feel like it probably could have been removed and the story wouldn't have suffered for it.
Our MMC is a bit uptight, he likes organization and things clean and orderly. They go from animosity to lovers and it's definitely an insta-love situation. I liked the MMC, at first, but to be honest a big part of this story is him not trusting her over and then refusing to believe her when she's telling him what he thinks happened isn't what was actually happened; I got irritated with him the longer it went on and found myself wishing the FMC would basically just tell him to F off and get over himself because he was being so absolutely ridiculous, especially for such a critical mind.
I figured out who the villain was pretty early and think things wrapped up quickly, but I was left with questions.
It's not a bad book, but there are others in the genre that I would recommend before this one (just personally, maybe you'll enjoy it more than I did!)

Well.. it was my first book by this author, but I was stuck in it from the very start. It was such a nice and delightfull surprise to get into this new world that I was flowing through the pages at a remarkeable speed.
The story has so many laughable moments and at the same time some mystery and suspense princked with a paranormal touch that made it just perfect.
Rune is a woman with magical powers and she can predict the future. But she is cursed in a way that no one ever believes her premonitions. She was labled so many times as a weid person that she learned hoe to conceal this side of her.
Donovan is a grumpy man, who has an edge to his personality that he uses to push people away. He is kind of nerdy and numbers and computers are his thing. So why is he all hot and bothered with Rune? Why is he acting like a love-sick puppy? Does he need to go back on his interest?
They are forced to work together and everything starts changing. Rune's premonitions start being more frequent and real. Donovan starts to lose control of this walls and they both discover several hidden secrets about their sweel home town.
And when he is in danger, can Rune get past her curse to help him? To help jerself?
I really liked Rune and her personality. I liked how even with all she had been through she just kept going and made herself a successfull woman and didn’t put her arms down and always pushed through.
I also liked Donovan, even if I got kind of confused by some of his actions at first. Then with the story we unfold many info that explain some things. He was a tough cookie to crack, but once it did, he sure was sweet and mellow inside.
I actually don't know if there will be more books in this world, but I wojld really like to see more from this. Starting with cooper, maybe? Who knows?

Rune Whitlock has the ability to see into the future but is cursed to have no one ever believe her about her premonitions. After surviving a lonely and tragic childhood, Rune is content with her steady job, tiny cottage, pet cat, and close best friend. She has accepted that she will never find love. That is, until she meets her newest colleague, Donovan Frost. Moody and uptight - and okay, incredibly hot - Donovan is the last person Rune expects to fall for. As sparks begin to fly, Rune has a premonition that her wedding to Donovan is destined to end in tragedy. To protect Donovan, Rune begins pushing him away, but the harder she pushes, the more complicated things become. When a work trip turns into something dark and sinister, Rune must discover the truth about her past, her premonitions, and her powers in order to save herself and everyone she loves.

I adored the town of Sapphire Springs and its quirky inhabitants. The sinsters' are hilarious, and Charlotte is the fiercely loyal best friend that every girl needs. I love the way that Rune and Donovan complement each other and how their storylines come together in the end. My one complaint is that the "sweet purple ponies" phrase, while funny at first, eventually became repetitive and distracting. Overall, I thought Cursed in Love was a fun mix of romance and thriller with some witchcraft and steam, and I was hooked from the beginning! Readers who enjoyed Erin Sterling's Graves Glen trilogy but wanted more witchcraft and spice will absolutely love this one.

Okay, so I absolutely ADORE Rune and Donovan. This book was a super cozy read. It was very entertaining but predictable and kind of confusing in some parts (so if you want like an unforeseen plot twist this isn’t for you). My only complaint is how for the majority of the book the main characters are having the same argument over and over just to have a rushed happily ever after. All in all though, a very cute and entertaining read!!

This was such a cosy romance and I fell in love with the small town Sapphire Springs. Rune is such an awesome character to follow and she just gave me so many feels. I could not put this one down!

I loved EVERYTHING about this paranormal romance. It had an adorable meeting, friends turned lovers, oodles of rich townsfolk character development, and so much more!

Rune has been cursed to have premonitions of death that nobody will ever believe. This has led to many arrests, very few true friendships, and difficulties in life in general. She has somehow made it work, becoming a successful graphic designer who works from home (WFH because, ya know, the unplanned visions). It’s a small town, where everybody is in each other’s business, so it’s somewhat amazing that she’s doing so well here even after her turbulent childhood in foster care. Her boss throws a wrench in all this when he forces her to partner up, in office, with someone she has deemed “sex spreadsheet guy” for his uptight/antisocial personality. Her reluctance is proven correct when their first day working together involves a car crash, finding out Donovan (“sex spreadsheet guy”) has a brother who arrested her earlier that day, and then becoming the headline news of their town’s gossip page.

I loved the chaos vs order opposites attract vibe between these two, with or without paranormal elements at work. Said paranormal elements appear to be all over the place, hiding in plain sight in this small town. Did I mention how much I loved all of the characters we meet? Because they are all WONDERFUL! All of their genuine nature made the outlandish magic we interact with later in the story all the more believable. I won’t spoil the big bad or any twists and turns here, but Rune and Donovan certainly have to overcome some obstacles to find their HEA. Do we get more books in this universe? I hope so!

Set in the charming town of Sapphire Springs, this book blends small-town romance with a touch of the supernatural, making for a sweet and cozy read. Rune Whitlock is a lovable heroine—quirky, independent, and blessed (or cursed) with the ability to see the future. Her dynamic with the brooding, logical Donovan Frost creates a fun opposites-attract romance filled with tension, banter, and undeniable chemistry.
The plot is both intriguing and emotional, especially with Rune’s premonition that their love is doomed. Watching her struggle between protecting Donovan and following her heart adds depth to the story, keeping you invested in their journey. There’s also a great mix of humor and warmth, from the town’s eccentric residents to Rune’s adorable rescue cat, Valentine.
While the book is a quick read, it doesn’t feel rushed. The balance of romance, mystery, and small-town charm makes it an enjoyable escape—perfect for anyone looking for a light yet engaging love story.

I really enjoyed this book, it’s very much a book of two halves, you think you know where it’s going and then half way through it completely changes the tempo. This raises it from a cozy fantasy romance to a powerful game changer, turned it from a daytime read in between work hours to a stay awake till 01:30 kind of read. If you love grumpy x sunshine then you will love this but it’s not a slow burn in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the FMC, she is flawed, sassy and has experienced trauma and it’s been dealt with well. The MMC is described deliciously, awkward yet assertive, just scrumptious to read.

There is no graphic detail of spice in this book which is quite refreshing and I think too much detail would have detracted from the story so a great decision on the authors part.

I loved the small town coziness, the paranormal, the romance, it really ticked all the boxes.

This book was a very unique adventure. It had a unique magic system and lots of intrigue and suspense. I loved the Sinsters. They were one of my favorite parts!! This book brings cozy, magic, suspense, fated love, double crossing, and lots of heat for the main characters. It is really adorable and a fun read.

This was a lot darker than I expected and a little fever dreamy at times, but the romance and realization of what was really going on with Rune’s magic was wild. It kept my attention and I finished it pretty quickly. The characters were super interesting and well thought out and the pace and world building were bith pretty great. Loved the book club coven ladies!

I would give the spicy scenes 3 chilies.

Thanks to Netgalley and Black Orchid Books for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review.

This book was really fun and easy to read! I expected a cutesy little romance book with a little bit of fantasy mixed in there but it had more fantasy than I thought. This was actually my first book with witchy vibes and now I want to have more.
The love interest wasn't kinda annoying for not believing the main character but then again, he couldn't do anything about it. I did find the book a little bit confusing when the plot unraveled itself but still very enjoyable.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-arc of this book!

Rune has had the ability to see the future for as long as she can remember - but what <i>should</i> be a gift is turned into a curse because no one person believes in Rune's power of foresight. Rune is forced to cope with the responsibility of seeing the future on her own. However, doing things on her own isn't necessarily new to Rune, as she was orphaned as an infant and grew up in foster care, forced to fend for herself on several occasions.

In order to keep her premonitions at bay, Rune works remotely and keeps to herself - that is, until she finds out that she'll be required to go into the office to work with coworker Donovan Frost on a high-stakes and mysterious work project. At first, Rune and Donovan clash due to Donovan's prickly demeanor - until Donovan warms up and the two discover a deeper connection. When Rune and Donovan take the next step, Rune steps through the doorway into a premonition that reveals how her relationship with Donovan can only end in tragedy; immediately, she pushes Donovan away, even though it hurts them both.

Prior to starting Cursed in Love, I did not realize how heavily the genre would fall into "fantasy" territory! The novel begins as if it is a typical romance with a slight witchy twist, but about half-way through, takes a somewhat sudden twist and becomes more of a "romantasy" and incorporates many more fantasy, paranormal, and some action-filled details. That being said, this is not a heavily-fantasy filled book in the slightest, and is still a good fit for those who do <i>not</i> enjoy intense fantasy reads, but like books with a hint of fantasy thrown in! For example, throughout the novel, the characters remain in "present-day" and in a modern realm and living alongside humans. In conclusion: Cursed in Love is a "romantasy" that has some modern fantasy/paranormal aspects that I would describe as "gentle" fantasy.

As other reviewers have noted, one aspect of the plot that tampered with my reading experience was the pace at which the romance unfolded. Rune and Donovan seem to instantly fall in love without even knowing much about each other. I think that the reader is supposed to understand that they were destined and prophesied to be together - however, I would have enjoyed a slower build of their relationship to allow the opportunity to see their characters get to know each other, operate around each other, and get a better glimpse into Donovan's character in general.

Another aspect of note is that there are a lot of sub-plots going on throughout this book to get you from beginning to end! Based on how the book began in chapter 1, I would not have anticipated the ending I found myself at. The book is decently long at 402 pages, and even within the span of 402 pages, so much more happens than you would expect! This is not necessarily a negative thing, as sometimes it can be frustrating when a plot moves too slowly or there is too much of a focus on one plotline for too long. However, with the fast pace, there were a couple smaller plotlines that I did find myself wishing had been expanded upon, to the point that I questioned the purpose of them being included in the first place.

Thank you to NetGalley and Emily Colin for a digital ARC copy of Cursed in Love in exchange for my honest review!

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. This was such a fun read. It was a mix a magic, drama, and romance, and a little bit of mystery. This book has a little of everything. If you enjoy magical romances, then you should give this one a try.

This was so drama filled and so funny. It was laugh out loud funny, very sensual and I constantly thought of the whodunit aspect. It’s the perfect cozy, slight murdery, very witchy romcom.

This an ARC review for Cursed in Love by Emily Colin, thank you to Netgalley for sending me this ARC.

This book was a 5-star read for me, I did not want to put it down, I found the story well-paced, I loved the storyline and characters, and the general vibes of the book just made me feel really good. I finished it and wanted to immediately re-read it!

Although there were hints of spice, I do think it was lighter on spice than some romance-based novels. The spice is very slow burn in that there is a lot of general desire between the two main characters, there are scenes of things almost happening, but the actual spicy events don’t happen until the end and it is not very graphic.

This book is a cute, cozy, small-town, paranormal romance and I would recommend this book to anyone who wanted to just curl up on the couch with their beverage of choice and settle in for a feel-good story with a little bit of drama- because we all need a little drama in our lives.

Set in the small town of Sapphire Springs, Cursed in Love follows Rune Whitlock, a thirty-two-year-old graphic designer who gets premonitions, usually of the tragic kind. Spoiler alert: no-one believes her, she is a modern-day Cassandra of Troy. Rune has a bit of a dark sense of humour, likely stemming from a traumatic childhood within the foster care system. She is a little chaotic and things often don’t go to plan, with her being arrested (and released), her car breaking down, falling over in a puddle, and also getting in a car accident (not her fault), within the first six chapters.

When she is paired with the hot as hell, Ice Man Incarnate, Donovan Frost, for a team project, she cannot comprehend how they will be able to work together when he seems to disdain her existence. Donovan likes order and data and logic. Office gossip suggests that ‘he never talks to anyone, prefers coding to conversation… probably has sex according to a colour coded spreadsheet…’. The chaos that Rune brings into his life begins to crack his cold exterior, but, when sparks fly, a premonition hits –they will fall in love, only for him to die at their wedding altar. Rune tries to push him away to protect him, but when he demands answers, she tells the truth, and he doesn’t believe her. Fate and circumstance still push them together despite Rune’s best efforts.

Like all small towns, the people of Sapphire Springs love a good bit of gossip, and what is more exciting than a potential new couple. The Sinsters certainly think so with social media posts with photos accompanied by hashtags such as #fatedmates and #firstdatemagic. The Sinsters is a spicy bookclub made up of a group of septuagenarians who enjoy reading and discussing spicy scenes from their book of choice in front of Rune and Donovan (on their not first date), they also happen to be a witch coven. Rune teams up with the Sinsters to uncover her past, break her curse, and hopefully prevent her premonition coming true.

Book Tropes:
- Forced proximity
- Forbidden Love
- Fated Mates
- Grumpy/sunshine
- Cozy, small town

Trigger Warnings: violence, references to child abuse, arson, and foster care placement, mentions of suicide, and parental death (before the story starts).
