Stars Hollow meets Charmed is correct, and exactly how I would describe this book! Such a fun and captivating story. I did not want to put this book down. 400 pages seemed like a lot, but it honestly flew by. Great book.

I don’t think I’ve read a “paranormal” or magical romcom like this. I love this version of grumpy sunshine to include some instances of social anxiety. The fmc is such an intriguing yet relatable character and this romance really warms the soul.

Who wants to be cursed anyway?
This is not my typical genre to read but I am so hooked reading it. There is just something about mystery and magic that pulled me into this novel. I love how the book started with chaos, which truly magnified the book title itself. But beyond the chaotic scenes, there is that tension between the MCs, the small-town vibe of Sapphire Springs along with the funny Sinster ladies that add humor in between.
I was a bit confused in the beginning and then started being suspicious of the danger that the FMC is in. Eventually, I got hooked in learning more about her history and the witches. To be honest, I didn't expect that it would turn into witches ' rivalry, but I was kind of stressed with Rune when she decided to settle things on her hand. I was like, THINK first! But thankfully, Donovan, oh this man is such a surprise! He turned out to be not just a typical cold man, but a shy but very persistent man.

4.5⭐
What I expected was a cute paranormal rom-com. What I got was much better with much higher stakes. From the outset, I enjoyed the voice and character of Rune, the misunderstood weird girl whose "cursed" because no one ever believes her about her premonitions. While leaving for a work meeting, she somehow, almost accidentally, saves a guy from getting killed, only to get arrested. And the day goes down from there. The small town is cute but the neighborhood Facebook gossip page is lit. And Rune keeps landing on it with the guy she is assigned with to a project...the grumpy to her sunshine. All I know is that I want to be back in this world again. The Sinisters rule!

Emily! I absolutely loved this book. I have posted my Goodreads post below. My little family got hit with the Flu and I plan on making a post on Instagram also! Thank you for allowing me to enjoy this book early! I really enjoyed the Sinsters and loved them so much!!

This book had me hooked by the first comedy filled chapter. The characters were perfectly written and are very relatable. This book starts off one way then completely takes a turn that will shock you. I loved everything about this book and I wished there was more of it to read!

I usually don't read witchy books, so I was excited about this one! It was a good book, I liked the style of the writing, and the story line was so interesting. I was getting frustrated on behalf of the FMC, when no one would listen to her, but I guess that makes sense seeing as she was cursed (obviously). It was cute, and interesting and a little cult-y, but not in a bad way. I would for sure read more from this author.

The first chapter didn’t get my attention, but I found myself eating it up once through. It was enjoyable and easy after something heavy. The tension was hot!

In the town of Sapphire Springs, Rune Whitlock has always felt like an outsider. Gifted with the ability to see the future but cursed to have no one believe her premonitions, she’s accepted that romance isn’t on the cards. Working as a graphic designer, a loyal best friend, and a sweet rescue cat called Valentine, how can she be lonely?
When she meets Donovan Frost, the brilliant and brooding data engineer, he is everything she is not but has to accept this, especially as they have been put together on a work project. Rune’s gift reveals a chilling truth: they are destined for each other, but their love story is doomed to end in tragedy on their wedding day. To protect Donovan, Rune must push him away, even if it breaks her heart. But the harder she tries, the more entangled they become. Rune must unravel the mystery of her curse... before it’s too late.
A sweet paranormal romance that is fairly fast-paced given that the events are meant to take place over a week. I must admit to finding the ‘instant love’ a bit difficult to sit with, but I found the relationship enjoyable. It is to be expected with any paranormal romance that there are elements that have to be accepted, so I just went along with the story. There is plenty of banter, and the chemistry between Rune and Donovan was electric! An enjoyable read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my unbiased review - and trust me, I genuinely loved every page. This book was such a fun, fast-paced, well-developed romp. I love the small town and the characters - both the supporting and main characters are super compelling, and I hope there’s a second book because I can’t wait to return to Sapphire Springs! I would recommend that readers heed the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book - there is trauma, and the protagonist deals with dark humor like many of us do. But if you’re able to read this book, I think you’ll really enjoy it. Rune is a delightful protagonist and I found her incredibly relatable, and her relationship with Donovan is absolutely perfect. Just the right amount of spice for me, and the fantasy elements of the book are compelling and well-developed, not just shoehorned in for window dressing for the romantic aspect. Loved the magical system that was able to be developed. All in all, one of my favorite witchy rom-com books yet (and I’m a deep devourer of all things witchy rom-com!).

2 stars
In theory, I was supposed to like this book. cozy fantasy, witches, Gilmore Girls vibes. In reality, I didn't like anything about it. Many times I asked myself "What tf am I reading?", which is never a good sign. I didn't like the main character, the story was so ridiculous I rolled my eyes every two pages, and the romance came out of nowhere.
The only thing I liked was the magic system, but not enough to give it more than two stars.
I'm really bummed about this because I really wanted to like it.

“Cursed in Love” by Emily Colin is a captivating paranormal romance about two people bound by a tragic curse across generations. The story beautifully explores themes of love, fate, and the struggle to break free from a predestined path. Colin’s poetic writing brings the emotional depth of the characters to life, while the slow-burn romance keeps readers engaged. While the supernatural elements may be hard to believe for some, the book’s heartfelt narrative makes it a memorable read for fans of emotional, mystical love stories.
A compelling and poignant tale of love that transcends time.

💖"Sweet Purple Ponies!"💖
I decided to read Cursed in Love by Emily Colin to get ready for Valentine's Day, and I'm so glad I did 😍 This book reminded me of Charmed from the beginning, and I was over the moon when main character, Rune, gave it a mention! It's set in a small town with a small/close community, there's magic, and a slow burn romance that is reeaallyyy slow but for good reason (it's worth the wait!). I loved being in Rune's head. The character's thoughts and actions are both hilarious and heartbreaking (without giving any spoilers away), and I loved that every time she was losing it, sweet purple ponies was her favourite saying 🥰😂
This is a fun Valentine's Day read, I give it 4.5 stars 🌟 If you love stories based in small towns with quirky characters, some spice, a little darkness, and a happy ending, this is perfect for you 🥰

Cursed in Love is a paranormal romance with a delightful small-town charm that had me smiling from the very first pages. The writing style is engaging, light-hearted, and easy to follow, making for a quick and enjoyable read. Though not exactly a cosy book—there are some darker elements woven into the plot—the humour and narrative keep things fun and entertaining.
One of the highlights of the book is its cast of likeable side characters, who add depth and warmth to the story. Their interactions bring an extra layer of charm, making the world feel lively and inviting.
However, there were a few aspects that didn't quite work for me. The romance unfolds at lightning speed—within a week, everything is set in motion, and I'm not a fan of the "instant love" trope. Spacing the events out over a few months would have made the relationship feel more natural and believable. Additionally, some dialogues felt a bit out of place, making certain moments unintentionally cringy. The love interest, in particular, seemed inconsistent—his initial portrayal didn't quite match the way he acted later in the book. And, of course, the overuse of sweet purple ponies, was... a choice.
Overall, if you're looking for an entertaining read that will put a smile on your face at the end of a long day, Cursed in Love is a solid pick. Just be ready to embrace a bit of insta-love and a few over-the-top moments along the way!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the advance copy!

Happy release day!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me
Think Charmed meets Stars Hollow! This book has the perfect mix of fantasy, romance and even some mystery in the cosy, small town of Sapphire Springs. The spice is very minimal, so I’d say this is quite a cosy paranormal romcom, which is great if you’re looking for a pallet cleanser
This is a brilliant Valentine’s Day read, but could easily be read any time of the year. I think I’ll be rereading this come Halloween!
I devoured this book very quickly, it’s a very easy, fast paced read. The writing is immersive, captivating and keeps you wanting more. I went from laughing out loud, to gasping on the next page. I’m very excited to try other books by this author
At first I thought the way the relationship between the FMC (Rune) and the MMC (Donovan) developed was way too fast to be realistic, but by the end we actually had a good explanation for why everything happened so quickly, so please don’t let that put you off!
I loved the way the relationship developed throughout the book, the twists and turns kept me on my toes and I was excited trying to unravel the mystery at hand along with the characters. I felt very involved in the storyline, and Rune’s hardships were very relatable
Please note there are some potential triggers in this book that are alluded to (such as abuse, assault), however they happen in the characters past and are not mentioned in great detail, and the tragic backstory does serve to help you understand the character much better
I’m going to end this review with one of my favourite lines - “text spreadsheets nigh!”

I really enjoyed this one. A delightful mix of romance, fantasy, and mystery that I couldn't put down. The author does a great job of weaving together and layering the story that kept me endlessly entertained and wanting more. The dynamic between Rune and Donovan was all over the place in a good way, and I love the humor behind Rune's narrative/character. Despite its February release, I think this would be a perfect Halloween read due to the witch element.

RELEASE DAY 💙
Rune Whitlock lives a quiet life in Sapphire Springs, where she’s known for her ability to see the future, though no one believes her. With a cozy cottage, a graphic designer career, and a loyal cat, she’s made peace with being an outsider. Love isn’t on the horizon… until she meets Donovan, Donovan Frost. Brilliant, brooding, and frustratingly logical, he’s the exact opposite of Rune, but their unexpected connection quickly turns into something deeper.
Then, Rune’s visions reveal a devastating truth: they are meant to be together, but their love will end in tragedy on their wedding day. To save Donovan, Rune must push him away, even if she shatters her own heart. As a dark, mystical force works against them, Rune must unravel the mystery of her curse before it's all too late.
"Cursed in Love" is a cozy paranormal romance that blends enemies-to-lovers tension with a touch of magic. The chemistry between Rune and Donovan is electric, despite their stark differences, and the slow burn of their evolving relationship is both sweet and gripping. The added layer of Rune's mysterious curse and the fate that looms over them keeps the stakes high and the pages turning. With its heartwarming moments and intriguing twist, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance with a bit of paranormal flair.

Despite not liking this story line there are some amazing moments in the book. Times when I rooted for Rune and Donovan. A part or two that made me blush. Would I read more stories from the author yea I probably would. But as for Rune and Donovan, I would probably give them a second chance because I do think they have potential. And just because it’s not for me, it doesn’t make it a bad book. I don’t think there are any bad books, just different opinions.
The world building in this story is long, extensive and much too long for me. When I first started reading it… it drove me nuts! Like Seriously, the first half of the book is backstory mixed with world building mixed with flirtation. I have a love hate relationship with the first half of the book. I started off hating the book and struggling to read because it was so slow as if I was living the days of the story. Then there were parts that were laugh out loud funny and parts that I was cheering on the characters in the scenes. And had I not enlisted to be an ARC reader I probably would have added it to my DNF list. Which is surprisingly short. I finally made it to about 50% after days of struggling with it and then **Boom** In one night I went from 50 to 75% in about 2 hours. I loved listening to the Kindle assistive reader while soaking. I’m more of an action girly so yes, the action definitely picks up.
~~~~Possible spoilers below Mainly my thoughts on characters~~~~~
*As for our main character, Rune, I struggled to sympathize with her. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I don’t like her. Throughout the book the way she narrated it and talked I couldn’t like her. For the first half of the book there were a handful of moments that made me laugh or root for her. But after that halfway mark it was almost like it was two different people and I started rooting more for her. It was as if she was a different person altogether.
*Donovan is her fated love. Sure, it’s a little steamy but I kind of liked his brother better. Donovan was uptight, arrogant, my way or the highway, and if it’s against his preconceived notion then you must be lying. I really wasn’t his biggest fan.
*Officer (can we say his name) I honestly liked him a lot better than the main male lead. Sure, he lived up to her nickname of him, but he believed in our primary character and he genuinely seemed to care for his family once we realized it.
*The Sinsters yes, yes, yes, and more yes can we say they seem the embodiment of female empowerment? But my big problem with them is they’ve known Rune her whole life and not once did they seem to catch on that she was very much like them. There would have been plenty of signs surely if they were involved as much as they are portrayed to.
*Charlotte seemed to just be there to bail her out of sticky situations. Totally a fluff character to fill in the story line, kind of like Julia as well. This is the only story I have read with Rune in it so from that perspective Julia and Charlotte were kind of just random people that really didn’t seem to add much to the plot.
I honestly loved this book so much that I devoured it in less than 24 hours!
If you like heartwarming small town paranormal romance , forbidden romance and a sprinkle of forced proximity then this is definitely the book for you.
I would say this book is pretty fast paced but easy to follow.
I fell in love with the characters from the get go and adored the banter between Rune & Donovan.
Emily’s writing is captivating, immersive and hard not to love. I can’t wait to read more of her work!
Rune is cursed to see future deaths but also have no one believe her. Being the good person she is, she's inclined to try to prevent the person from dying. This puts her in awkward positions when no one understands.
Opposites are thrown together to attract but her curse is trying to get in the way. I enjoyed the background town and character development as well as the connections Rune has.
The twists to get Donovan and Rune together were ingenious and I enjoyed the back and forth.
