This book is part one of a new series, it's such a promising start, im really looking forward to reading the next book.
This is a perfect escapism book, the location is idyllic and the writing is very descriptive. There are some lovely characters. This is a heartwarming and easy read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my arc.

This book has a light-hearted premise about a girl hoping to make a fresh start in Amsterdam by starting her own flower shop. It has a charming main character and a curmudgeon-y male love interest. The backdrop of Amsterdam, one of my favorite European travel destinations, was also interesting to me. Unfortunately I stopped around 17%; this just wasn’t the book for me. I found the romance between the two characters unappealing to me and the plot moved a little too fast.

Immense gratitude and thanks to the publisher, Avon, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet story of love, friendship, community, and new beginnings. Rosie inherited her late mother's love of plants and flowers. After several failed relationships and multiple boring, dead-end jobs, Rosie leaves it all behind in London to open a flower shop in Amsterdam.

Rosie is determinedly cheerful, impulsive, and a little bit naïve. She moves to Amsterdam with little more than some savings and a dream. She rents a houseboat to live in - one that's condition is not quite what was advertised. Her next-door neighbor is a gorgeous but grumpy artist with a perpetual scowl. And setting up a business in a foreign country where you don't speak the language is more complicated than she expected.

Very little gets Rosie down. She overcomes her shock at the condition of her houseboat, the Forget-Me-Knot (love the name!), and immediately sets out to make it habitable. Her initial exploration of the flower market nets her a friend who helps her navigate the process of setting up her business. It's not all hearts and rainbows, as Rosie faces several setbacks, from flooding in her houseboat to delivery mix-ups and a rival florist who causes trouble. Her positive attitude goes a long way toward overcoming these obstacles, thanks to the help of new friends. I especially enjoyed the parts with her rival, Finn. A devastating development with her houseboat nearly breaks her, but the blessings of friendship bring a heartwarming solution.

A relationship was the last thing Rosie was looking for, but it found her anyway. She's drawn to her neighbor Max, but his grumpiness initially discourages her. Early on, it seems that everything about her irritates him, but under the grumpy exterior is a man with a good heart. I liked seeing him step in to help on her houseboat and then introduce her to the city he loves. However, Max has his own emotional baggage that periodically gets in the way of his relationship with Rosie. Fortunately, these episodes don't last too long, and they continue to grow closer. I liked how it ended.

One of the book's best aspects was the author's vivid descriptions of the city, its culture, and its people. I visited Amsterdam several years ago, and this book brought back many pleasant memories.

The secondary characters were terrific. I loved how each brought out a different facet of Rosie's personality. I also liked Rosie's family dynamics. We get a glimpse of how her mother's death affected them all. I liked how Rosie encouraged her sister, Melody, to be a little bolder, and loved Rosie's weekly "dinners" with her dad. Each of Rosie's new friends highlighted another aspect of her personality. The epilogue was a terrific look at the results of her hard work and relationship-building.

This was a really lovely read. I've never read a book by this author before and what a way to start!

I liked the location, the characters and the idea of the floating flower shops, and the festival of course!

Overall a great read. Would recommend this author

This delightful romance is like a bouquet of fresh flowers from Trader Joe's that you treat yourself to on payday — bright, uplifting, and makes you smile just looking at them (listen I'm in love with the cover). Rosie’s journey from small-town England to the dreamy canals of Amsterdam is the perfect backdrop for a story about fresh starts, unexpected connections, and finding love when you least expect it. Can this happen to me please??

Rosie is instantly relatable, full of warmth and quiet determination as she builds her flower shop dream. Max, her guarded houseboat neighbor, brings the perfect amount of broody charm. Their chemistry unfolds slowly and sweetly, making every stolen glance and shared moment feel authentic and earned.

The Amsterdam setting is simply magical, and the cozy flower market rivalry adds just the right touch of tension and charm. This book is feel-good fiction at its best, like a fresh slice of pie on a summer day or a steaming cup of tea on a rainy day.

If you’re looking for an escape with love, laughter, and a picturesque Dutch twist, this one’s for you.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally read a book by Annabel French (or any of her other pen names). There was absolutely no way I was going to be able resist reading this book with its gorgeous cover, and implication that it is set abroad.

For I love a destination book, and this is certainly that, as we get to see sides of Amsterdam that a regular tourist may not see, and I was all for it.

Rosie is an impulsive character, is brimming with positivity and moves to Amsterdam on a whim, with the aim of getting a pitch at the famous floating flower market. And she does this without a proper plan, rents a houseboat which isn't in the best of conditions and discovers things may not be as simple as she hoped.

Before long she makes friends at the market and even manages to get more than one word answers out of Max her grumpy neighbour.

I loved all of the characters, and Rosie's love of flowers and plants is catching. She is just such a positive ray of light, and is always there for her friends. She is who I'd love to be!

I was enchanted by every moment of this story, it was highly enjoyable and I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Aptly named Rosie loves all things botanical, a love she inherited from her late mother, whom she still misses. Impulsive Rosie wants to live in the moment and risks everything to follow her dream in Amsterdam's floating floral market. The vivid descriptions bring Amsterdam and its distinctive features to life. It has a vibrant community which Rosie longs to be part of. Rosie's new home is a houseboat where she meets her grumpy but gorgeous neighbour, Max. I enjoyed following Rosie's new life in this immersive story. The romance is conflicted and gentle, but it is something you invest in. It's an engaging story full of believable characters.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I read this with a smile on my face. Rosie is such a happy smiley character that you are drawn into her world and want everything to work out for her. Aged 30, Rosie hasn't yet found her niche in life. Her mum died when she was a child and she's struggled to make connections. There's a strong family bond with her dad and sister but her mum's loss is till felt keenly. Feeling drawn to the Floating Amsterdam flower market, Rosie moves to Amsterdam and sets about securing a pitch. And making the rundown boat she's renting habitable. Her personality soon makes her friends- even grumpy canal neighbour Max is coming round. Things aren't plain sailing but the power of community spirit shines through. I hoestly smiled my way through this. #netgalley #thefloatingamsterdamflowershop

I went to Amsterdam last summer, and this book took me right back. What a great story and premise - starting over in a new place. I wish I could live on a houseboat! I enjoyed this read a lot.

This is Book 1 in the Floating Shop series. Rosie decides to throw caution to the wind and move to Amsterdam to open a flower shop. The story follows the struggles she faces, and the friendships she makes along the way.

A very emotional book, I cried a lot! I loved Rosie and Max's differences, one outgoing and positive, and the other reserved and resigned. It was a good, quick read, with lots of likeable characters and relationships. I really liked Rosie's story, watching her journey to establish herself. Her relationship with her father and sister were lovely to read about.

I'll definitely be looking out for the next book in the series.

Bit of a twee romance book, very hallmark movie.
Not everyone's cup of tea. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy

This was just so silly. It read like a hallmark movie meets Emily in Paris but… not done well 🫣 the fmc was annoyingly cheerful and delusional lol and the mmc was honestly just forgettable and boring and kind of a red flag. I wanted to love this based off the premise but.. no this wasn’t great.

Also the narrator sounded like the great British bake off voiceover lady and it was weird lol

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc.

The Floating Amsterdam Flower Shop is full of charm. Great characters, an interesting, thriving setting, and a sweet love story. I loved the houseboat living and the characters at the Floating Flower Market. You could tell how much the author loved writing this story. A great summer read that makes you want to travel to Amsterdam ASAP.
Thanks to #NetGalley and AvonBooks UK for the ARC.

Thank you so much for the chance to give this book an early read. This story is giving all the Hallmark movie vibes and I was absolutely living for it! This is just what I needed to get me over my book slump.

This is a pleasant and enjoyable novel but I can’t say the plot blew me away. It’s well written but I felt it was just lacking in something to keep me totally invested although I enjoyed the descriptions of Amsterdam. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.

3.5 stars- full review on Goodreads
Partial review here:
This author does a great job of setting up pretty great secondary characters but some of the relationships fell
Flat for me. Rosie and Max’s relationship felt off. I get that the point was to make it feel deep and fast but bringing the ex back around only to have that fizzle out so quickly felt a little forced and uneventful. Plus their make- up in the end fell short for me and didn’t feel as emotional as I’d hoped for especially with how he treated her. Noah and Emma’s communication felt the same for me- like when Noah said “I’m only that shy with you” although he barely spoke to her the majority of the book and backed off anytime she showed more than an ounce of emotion.
The end of the book felt a little rushed and some of the details felt off like the fact that her sister was interested in a doctor at work, but at the end of the book they refer to him as a consultant.

This book was so fun! I was thankful for the opportunity to read an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Rosie makes the decision to start over again in Amsterdam, with a flower shop at a market. Competition can add some stress with your own business, and it really adds to the story! This was such a fun and relatively quick read, and I really liked Rosie a lot! I cant wait to read the next book, because this is going to be a series!
