I absolutely adore this authors books and this one was such a delight to read. It was such a beautifully written story that pulled at my heart strings and sucked me in from the first page. I loved how the book jumped across the timelines of the present and the past exploring the characters connections to each each other and how it encapsulated a beautiful storyline. Engaging characters and a beautiful setting and put them all together to make this brilliant read.
I devoured this book in one sitting while recovering from illness and was so pleased I could give it the justice or deserves by reading in one go. This story will stay with me for some time to come. Thank you for such a fabulous and charming read.

When Georgie is attending an open house that has been designed by her first love Ethan, she did not anticipate being stuck in it with him. They share a truly wonderful story of first love and we see it sprinkled in the design of the house. It goes back and forth between present time and the past they shared before Ethan and his family moved away.
You can't help but rooting for Georgie and Ethan, they are truly meant to be together. The story of the house, it's history and how it connects them is
just a delight to read. I really enjoyed reading A Cornish Love Story!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for my eARC.

This is a very enjoyable read, I found it difficult to get into for the first few chapters, but then it became very engaging. I loved finding out about the History of the house and the characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my arc.

I have read and enjoyed a great number of Cressida McLaughlin’s books, many of which, like this latest release, are set in Cornwall. Unlike some of her books, such as the Cornish Cream Tea Bus series, this is a standalone story. I was drawn in by her characters right away and finished the entire book in no time.
The central characters of this story are journalist and aspiring novelist Georgie, architect Ethan and a beautiful old house described as the most romantic house in Cornwall. The narrative is split between two time periods - the present and the year when Georgie and Ethan fell in love as teenagers. Georgie still lives in her childhood home, but Ethan left the area. When the lovely old house is redeveloped, Georgie is sent to cover the open day for the local newspaper. She is surprised to discover that Ethan is the architect behind the transformation of the building. Not having seen him since they broke up all those years ago, she is not sure how to feel about coming face to face with him now. When they find themselves trapped inside the house, there is time to examine what happened to their relationship and whether they may have a second chance at romance.
As with all of Cressida McLaughlin’s books that I have read, this is a story full of romance. I loved the way in which the lives of the main characters were revealed gradually as the narrative swung between past and present times. The way in which Georgie and Ethan were parted was so dramatic. I was glad that they were getting a second chance and found myself hoping that they could rediscover the magic they once had. I wasn’t sure about the high-tech house that Ethan had designed and how it would fit into the lovely little Cornish village, but it was certainly intriguing. I’m sure that many readers will enjoy this summery story, whether or not they are familiar with this author’s books.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!
I wasn't sure where this book was meant to slot in, after having tightly followed the Cornish Cream Tea Bus series and enjoying every book of it. It was very funny to see a reference to it as a tourist spot, in the book, sort of like an easter egg, and it made me want to visit it as well (unfortunately it's just fiction...)
But back to this book, a very new premise, even a little bordering on becoming a thriller when a high-tech house traps the 2 ex-lovers in there for a night, and wondering if a murderer will be popping out suddenly. It became apparent that they would use the time to reacquaint and reminisce about their past and what exactly happen. It happens to even the best of us, you lose contact with a crush from your youth and one day you bump into him as an adult and he still takes your breath away and some of the feelings come back to haunt you (until you realise you both have changed even if you look the same.)
No spoilers for the ending, but the book did make me think about something similar that happened to myself (sans the high-tech house trapping me). Enjoyed the book!

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Georgie Monroe is a journalist who is asked to report on an event that is taking place is the most romantic house in Cornwall. It has been transformed into a high-tech glass palace. Whilst at the event she bumps into her first love Ethan who she discovers owns and designed the house. When the house malfunctions they find themselves trapped inside the house. Can they put the past behind them and continue their love story or is it too late?

A Cornish Love Story by Cressida McLaughlin is another delightful escape to Cornwall. A story about second chances and community spirit. The characters are endearing, with realistic struggles and genuine connections that jump from the page. As always the picturesque setting adds something special. Though some plot twists are a touch predictable, the story’s emotional resonance and gentle humour make it a thoroughly enjoyable read. A perfect pick for lovers of seaside romance and comforting fiction.

Cressida McLaughlin is a go to author of mine so I didn't hesitate to start her latest release A Cornish Love Story the moment it pinged onto my kindle.
This is a perfect light holiday read with its forced proximity romance set on the idyllic setting of Cornwall which this author always charms us with her exceptional descriptive writing that brings the Cornish setting to life.
In this story we meet Georgie and Ethan who were childhood sweethearts whose relationship ended abruptly but they still hold a torch for each other years later. When the two meet again and find themselves in extraordinary circumstances but will it pull them together or push them further apart?
I love a character who seems lost in life who then turns their life around and finds their path in life and so I think this is why I loved Georgie in this book. We get to know her and Ethan from both the current day and also hopping back to their early years too so we get a rounded view on their relationship.
I enjoyed this storyline and I certainly think it makes for an ideal holiday read as compared to her previous books this one is a lot lighter so it is easy to pick up devour a couple of chapters here and there. Although I wouldn’t say this was one would leave a lasting impression on me it was still none the less an enjoyable romantic read

A really lovely book as usual. Her books just flow so easily and draw you right in. Georgia and Ethan are such nice characters. I even liked Sarah!
I preferred reading about the "Now" sections rather than the past sections. Probably because I just wanted to see the outcome.
Once again a brilliant book by this author. Thank you.

A new Cressida McLaughlin book is always a huge treat a this is no exception. Told on a dual timeline, this is a story of missed opportunities and new beginnings. The house and its antics was a character in its own right! Set in glorious Cornwall this is a wonderful summer read and highly recommended.

I was fortunate enough to receive both the electronic copy and the audio book from NetGalley. I read the book first and enjoyed it very much. Full of twists and turns in a love story which started years before, stopped and then was revived. A lovely tale with well rounded characters and a nicely described location. I have now finished the audio book which was beautifully narrated and it almost felt like I was listening to a slightly different story as I picked up more detail this way. I’d recommend both versions of this book. The audio one is particularly handy when listening in the car.

I love Cressida McLaughlin books so duly requested this one but unfortunately it just wasn't for me.
I'm not a huge fan of lots of flashbacks and this story was told between the past and present.

“A love story doesn’t have to have a happy ending… but a romance does. You read a book that’s been sold as a romance and the characters don’t end up together, it’s basically literary treason.”
I don’t think it can be put any better than how Cress puts it in this book but this definitely fits the brief of being a romance. And such a lovely one at that! I really liked both Georgie and Ethan as characters, they’re the type of childhood sweethearts that you can sense were always meant to be together, but life, families and decisions all seemed to get in the way of that happening.
We get to see them in two stages of their life which I really enjoyed, casting back to memories of them as teenagers compared to how they have found themselves now bought something different to the book and really concreted their personalities. Then we also got a few chapters as letters, now these letters were the ultimate love notes and you couldn’t help but feel touched by them, they had classical romance down to a T!
Such a gorgeous read that had lots going on but it all went so well together and I read this in about 3 sittings because I was hooked and needed to know if there was going to be a second chance for Georgie and Ethan.
I’ve enjoyed everything that Cress has written so far and I would definitely recommend this (or any of her other books) if you’re looking for a cosy and warm-hearted romance with lovely characters! She’s got a new book coming out in a few months which I’m already chomping at the bit to get my hands on!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
I've enjoyed other Cressida McLaughlin books but, unfortunately this one wasn't for me and I DNF.

I enjoyed reading A Cornish Love Story, it was set in beautiful Cornwall and is the story of Georgie and Ethan and how love can stand the test of time.
It was a book full of love and friendship telling the story in a dual timeline.
Definitely a lovely summer read perfect for a lovely beach holiday.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this lovely book.

This is Cressida McLaughlin at her very best.
And it also raises very good talking points about AI and how dangerous a smart house could potentially be.
After all Georgie goes to the open house to see the newly designed house that was originally the inspiration for her favourite books of all time, and that played a big part in her life as a teenager too - she definitely wasn't expecting to end up trapped in it overnight, with Ethan.
Ah Ethan, who she had an intense romance with when she was 18, her first love, and then things went sour. She hasn't seen him in many years, but he is the architect of this revamped house.
Told in two timelines of present day, and that summer that they were together, we get to know Ethan, Georgie, their friends and family and see just what happened back then.
I loved the high tech nature of the house, just how key this building is in both timelines. It's a gorgeous romance that also includes a love story (Georgie will explain the difference between them when you read it).
I love this author and I was totally absorbed in the pages of this book. I had a great time devouring this story and am always eager to see what she will write next.
Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Another lovely read from Cressida set in Cornwall. I loved the premise and the characters so much, it was a wonderful time being in this world.

A really lovely story. Slightly different from this authors usual work I believe but I did really enjoy it. The whole idea of the house being the main feature surrounding the two main characters was great and really interesting.
Would recommend

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review
I had never read anything written by this author, but after seeing some of my favourite authors praise this book, it was a no brainer asking for the ARC. Mainly when reading summer romance books is one of my many guilty pleasures (as is second chance romances).
I truly enjoyed this book and the only thing that put me a bit off was the last few chapters and the FMC's way of doing things after learning the truth about everything. We were given a reason why she was doing what she was doing but I simply didn't feel it was reason enough and it ended up bringing down my overall enjoyment of the story.
Other than that I truly love the vibes of the book as well as the characters. Lovely summer read.

This was a lovely summer read set in Cornwall. Georgie is working away as a journalist when the big house on the cliff has a transformation and she wants to write a story on it. She finds out the architect was non other than her ex Ethan Sparks. The house has many memories for her so she decides to go to the open house. I really liked the before parts and the letters that Georgie wrote to Ethan when they broke up when they were younger, it puts the story together with now and then. A great summery read with great characters. A 4 star read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
