Priscilla Cain, the ultimate event planner, has everything under control — until she’s tasked with planning her best friend’s dream proposal. The catch? Her best friend’s fiancé might be about to propose on his own. So, Priscilla teams up with Ryan’s best friend, Oliver — obnoxious, gorgeous, and completely off-limits — to pull off a joint proposal. But keeping their secret alliance from their friends may be harder than they think. And as they work together, sparks fly. They might just find their own happily-ever-after.

Love this book! An enemies to lovers story full of characters that you root for, a fun plot, and a lot of spice!

Falling in love was NOT on Priscilla's to-do list, and honestly, same, girl🙂‍↕️ same. My to-do-list is to actually fall in love, but instead I’m reading about fictional characters falling in love. What had my life come too✋

So listen: as most stories like this go, we have Priscilla who is a event planner and has been roped into planning her bestie's epic proposal. Cute, right? Except the boyfriend might propose first (rude), so naturally, she has to team up with his best man named Oliver: hot, annoying, and allergic to plans. The perfect rom-com that I’m convinced needs to be a movie.

The tension and humor in this book were IMMACULATE. I laughed, I swooned, I yelled “JUST KISS” into a pillow. 10/10 would fake-plan a proposal with a hot nemesis again. (If I ever get one😭)

I’ll be sending this book an RSVP to my heart. 5/5 star no doubt about it.

3.5 🌟

Release date is 19 June 2025!!

Synonypsis: The Proposal Project is a contemporary romance about two ‘enemies’ forced to work together on a double wedding proposal, only to find themselves tangled in a fake relationship that starts to feel a lot like the real thing.

The Proposal Project was such a fun read!! ✨ I loved the double proposal planning aspect! Especially since it created the perfect setup for some great forced proximity moments 🤭 And then with the fake dating trope? I was living for it!! Something about the sneaking around, ‘practice’ kisses and the inevitable shift from fake to real always gets me! ♾️

I also really enjoyed the tension between the leads and how they couldn’t resist each other despite their “history.” The shameless flirting (mostly from Oliver lol) was a definite highlight for me!! <3 This is also quick and fast-paced which I appreciate!! I finished this in ONE day 🙂‍↔️

However, because this is a short novel, the characters barely have any depth which was a huge bummer. I didn’t buy the reason they were “enemies” at all either—it felt flimsy and created a lot of unnecessary miscommunication. That said, the way it was eventually resolved was genuinely sweet, so I won’t complain too much. If you go in with the right expectations, I think you’ll like this as much as I did.

The Proposal Project gives off 2000s rom-com vibes so if you’re looking for something like that, (light, fun, and escapist) this is a great pick!! 🤍

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for gifting me this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

5/5 stars. loved.

I was very much in the mood for a happy, lighthearted book, so getting this arc right now was perfect. I was laughing and enjoying myself from the first page and haven't been so addicted to reading something in a while.

Priscilla and Oliver are really entertaining to read as separate characters and of course together. Both of them had clear, strong personalities from the start that complimented each other very well. I also really loved Priscilla and Tina's dynamic!

I will say that this leans pretty heavily on the miscommunication trope, which I know can be painful/frustrating if not done right, but I thought it was a sweet use of it that felt very human and made the book so hard to put down.

Normalize fun romance! Not everything has to have a heartbreaking turn! This was so joyful and whimsical!

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

3.5 Stars rounded up

The Proposal Project is a fun rom com about two rivals planning their best friends’ proposal. Priscilla and Oliver have always been rivals… right? Priscilla has hated Oliver ever since she drunkenly confessed that she was “obsessed” with him, a few years back. Now, Priscilla’s best friend, Tina, and Oliver’s best friend, Ryan, are getting engaged, and both Priscilla and Oliver are tasked with planning their friend’s proposal. In a race to get their side to propose first, all cards are on the table with unlikely alliances, and even… their hearts?

After reading Hate Mail almost a year ago and absolutely loving it, I had to read the next book by this author, and boy, it did not disappoint! The humor in this book is top notch, while the characters themselves are so lovable. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of the miscommunication trope, but I think it was really well executed in this book. The Proposal Project definitely rides the line between funny and cheesy, which made for some parts that gave me major secondhand embarrassment. I also thought that the ending was kind of perfect for this book, and it honestly pulled on my heartstrings a bit.

4 Stars! This book was so much fun. I have been in such a slump and this is the first book in a hot minute that had me smiling and truly wanting to keep reading every page. Oliver is obsessed with Priscilla and she is BLIND. The poor girl wouldn’t know love if it smacked her in the face. But boy did I love the journey. Oliver, aside from his excessive smirking, is just the cutest golden retriever man ever. He is OBSESSED. I’m not over it yet. The storyline with Malcom seemed weirdly unfinished and out of place but that did not stop me from loving every minute of this book.

My only two qualms, (a) does Oliver have a facial expression that doesn’t include a smirk? (b) the ending felt very rushed. I think there should’ve been another chapter in there between the big proposal and the final chapter that was really more of an epilogue, it just felt like it was missing something at the end. Or even just a longer chapter for the big proposal maybe. Something was off there but I still LOVED the book.

I wasn’t expecting to devour the book in one sitting, but I yet again couldn’t help myself when it came to Donna’s writing. It’s a crime that there are only two of her books out there. I can’t wait to see what she publishes next!

I loved Priscilla and Oliver, they were both interesting characters. However, I didn’t feel like we got much of an in-depth backstory about either of them. I was left wishing for more details about Oliver and Priscilla’s lives before the story began; like why Oliver went travelling or how he met Ryan etc.

Tina was an amazing character - I absolutely loved her and thought she brought so much personality to the story, even if she wasn’t the main protagonist. Although I appreciated that the story was told from the perspective of someone close to Tina rather than Ryan, I felt like we saw more of even Ryan’s mother’s personality than Ryan’s own. Considering he had several scenes, he seemed very calm and laid-back compared to his rather crazy partner. Perhaps that was the point?

While I love a single POV story that leaves you wondering what the romantic interest is thinking/what their motivations are, I could tell that Oliver fell hard and fast for Priscilla - maybe even before she did herself, and my heart broke for him at times. We love to punish ourselves with a Fake Dating trope—the yearning from both sides, the sneaking affection for themselves and not for their intended audience. I can’t get enough of it.

Another great book from Donna, thank you for the opportunity to read it ahead of publication, I truly appreciate it.

This truly has one of the adorable concepts and I was so excited when I received the arc for The Proposal Project. Unfortunately, I decided to dnf at 31%. Our main character, Priscilla, hates the love interest, Oliver, and is convinced that he is mean to her when I read every single one of their interactions as him flirting with her. I couldn’t quite understand why she hated him so much. All of the different relationships felt forced and the dialogue was a bit cringey and stilted. I had a hard time connecting with Priscilla and I very quickly realized this book was not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the eArc.

Thank you to the author and HarperCollins UK / One More Chapter for the ARC via NetGalley!

Priscilla is an event planner and loves what she does. When a mishap at work sees her fired she’s stuck on what to do. After a lunch date with her bestie leaves her with a plan she can’t wait to get it started but she didn’t plan on the obstacle in her way, an obstacle in shape of a man, a man who made an enemy out of her by embarrassing her in front of everyone.

Oliver is in charge or her best friends ring, he need to keep hold of it until the time is right. When a car trip ends with him losing it he comes to realise that the girl who he bickers with constantly is the cause of the missing ring.

When the two of them figure out what’s going on they have to work together. Enemies working together, what couldn’t go wrong with that?

Following these two in their journey as they plan and keep secrets has been so much fun. I loved the joy of them pretending and being secretive whilst also being obvious.

Donna Marchetti brought us a cute enemies to lovers, fake dating romance with a cast of lovely characters. A book full of humour and shenanigans. It was humorous, it was beautiful and so captivating.

The Proposal Project was a fun and easy read. I found myself blowing through it within 24 hours, I just couldn’t stop. I enjoyed the laughter and the banter, the relationships and everything between them all. This story was wonderful. There was a few times when I was irritated by one or both of them but other than that I’ve loved it.

I love the premise of this book. I love the fake dating trope. I love the cover. Unfortunately, I did not love the characters and that made it hard for me to love this book.
Priscilla and Oliver are quite possibly two of the most immature people I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. It was like watching two middle schoolers. They each make bad decisions consistently. Not quirky or funny decisions…. bad decisions. Their chemistry isn’t really believable because they have no witty banter, just childish insults and then moments of lust. To sum up their personalities, Priscilla is obsessive, and Oliver smirks a lot. Tina wasn’t that great either. The bride to be was supposed to be the best friend but she constantly blurted out things that Priscilla told her in confidence and seemed to take joy in putting her on the spot in front of their friends. It just made it hard to like her when she was supposed to be the supportive friend but spent more time trying to push a narrative that she wanted onto Priscilla. Ryan didn’t even really have a personality. He was just along for the ride. I also was over the whole miscommunication because honestly that felt immature as well because it was something that should not have taken a literal year to resolve.
This book was not for me. I spent half of my time reading it looking for reasons to love it. Sadly, I did not find any. I did tack on an extra star for the premise, the trope and the cover.

I adored The Proposal Project!
I flew through this one and loved every second of their fake dating dynamic. I’m excited to read more from Donna Marchetti!

There was just so much miscommunication that could have been avoided, and the relationship between the two fell flat and felt immature at times. Again, loved the idea and there were definitely some charming moments between the characters, but the relationship needed some work.

I loved the idea of this book but the execution left me feeling somewhat disappointed. Many of the miscommunications between the characters could have been avoided with some basic maturity, which left me feeling annoyed, rather than enchanted
