Not my favourite by this author. Everything seems to he told from the start. Its a dark storyline involving human and animal sacrifices
I kept waiting for an incredible twist but nothing really happened. I was left a bit disappointed

A summer holiday. A family secret. A split-second decision that will change everything.
Twenty years ago, a summer holiday ended in tragedy for the Palmer family.
No one has spoken of it since.
Until a new tv series plays out the horrifying events of that night.
As the family are forced to relive that fateful trip, is it possible that each person is hiding their own secrets and is someone willing to do whatever it takes to keep their past firmly in the pastโฆ
This was a good, solid, dark thriller. It grabs you as soon as you read the first chapter. A story about two brothers and some horrible secret from their youth and it all comes back to haunt them. It starts to hau t them with some sort of series on TV.
It takes you back to their youth and slowly It unfolds what they have done. This was a bit too slow for me... but in the end, pace picks up and the end... Gosh, what a whirlwind that was. I was so taken by the end i thought I knew, but there was a little bonus in the very end.
Loved it! It was my first book by this author, but I will read more!
Thanks, @netgalley and @onemorechapterhc, for my copy!
Pub Date 3 July

I was captivated from the second I started this. Lots of dark twists and turns and a lot I really wasn't expecting. Would 100% recommend ๐

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read the ARC of this book. The writing style was nice. The author did not get too caught up in to meaningless descriptions. It was easy to read and first and then lost me towards the middle. I was expecting this to be more of a thriller that would be unpredictable, but it was all laid out in front of you with nothing to guess. I just couldnโt get into it. I would also like to add a trigger warning for human and animal sacrifice. Just not my cup of tea and kind of bored me. Would have also preferred if the author jumped back and forth between past and present more often.

I donโt get the people saying this grabbed them and pulled them in immediately. I was wanting to find out the truth and who knew, but also, didnt care enough to pick the book up consistently. I forced myself to finish it and was neither thrilled or upset it was over.

An affluent family goes on holiday for the Summer where things take a dark turn. For 20 years, no one has spoken of the incident but when a new TV series makes its debut and showcases the events of that long tragic night, the family is forced to relive those moments. Everyone has their own version of what happened but which is the truth? The family must make tough decisions as they rehash the events of that long ago Summer.

This was an atmospheric, well-written, dark thriller with a decently quick pace and great twists. I wasnโt sure what to expect but I ate this one up! I found the dual timeline layout to work really well for this story and it added to the foreboding nature of the writing. The Treehouse left me wondering how well we really know our families and showcases that connection by blood can cloud our judgment as we seek the approval and love of those physically closest to us. I found myself cringing and flying through the pages in equal measure. Most thrillers donโt have this level of darkness to them, at least that I read. This was a refreshing change. I definitely want to see more from this author after reading this.

I didnโt really like this book. It just wasnโt for me. I really struggled to get into it and I just couldnโt get on with it. So it was a DNF for me.

I didnโt really like this book. The concept of human sacrifice was both disturbing and depressing. It honestly should come with a warning. Not for me!

I received a free copy of, The Treehouse, by B.P. Walter, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Brothers Kieran and Robert have a secret, both have different versions of the secret. I did not care for this books, I did not like any of the characters. Sacrificing human or animal should not be normalized.

As always with a BP Walter book, youโre sucked in by the premise from the opening pages.
Dark, tense and twisty. The secrets in this family run deeper than you could ever imagine.

Brothers Kieran and Robert Palmer have privileged lives. Kieran is a lottery winner, very rich and lives quite the hedonistic lifestyle, though he is generous with his wealth and looks after his family financially. Robert loves his job and is doing very well at it, recently commended by his boss.
Kieran has returned home to help his mother June look after his father who is nearing the end of his days. Apart from this sadness everyone would assume that the brothers are happy with their lot, but they hide a dark secret, a heinous, evil event from twenty years earlier, that they have never spoken about.
When Robert comes across a tv series about a true life crime in Cornwall, The Treehouse, he is at first intrigued. As the programme develops he realises that it is all very familiar and the panic sets in. Who else knows their secret? What can Robert do about it?
A suspenseful read. A book where you keep thinking โno, donโt do thatโ!
This is quite possibly one of the most dysfunctional family storylines I have read in a while ๐ฑ. A dark, toxic family, full of characters you will love to hate.
Written across dual timelines, told from the perspectives of the brothers and their mother. For me, the ending seemed rather rushed after a well written build up, and a few silly moments that didnโt quite gel, including what was the point of the Albie character? Why did the tv writer wait twenty years before blowing the whistle?
3.5*
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins One More Chapter.

I have loved everything BP Walter has written but this has been my favourite by far. This b9ok has a dark sinister edge to it right from the start and it pulls you right into Robert's world. As a reader we are only told parts of the story in small chunks, so the details of the crime only emerge bit at a time, adding to the tension.
The chaos as Roberts world implodes is palpable and my heart was racing as we found out what had actually happened. It is so well written I felt I was right there living it with Robert.
AMAZING 5 star read I highly recommend

Absolutely captivating! From the very start of the book, I was invested in the characters and their stories. There is a real focus on the family dynamics and relationships, and it makes you question how you would react in the same circumstances. The descriptions of the locations, especially the beach, forest and treehouse, were excellent and really immersed me into the book. The dual-timeline narrative helped to slot together the pieces of the mystery and kept me wondering throughout. I loved the twists towards the end, and there was no guessing how the book would end. I have previously read 'The Dinner Guest' by B P Walter, which I enjoyed and hoped that I would find this narrative the same. A huge thank you to B P Walter, One More Chapter, HarperCollins and Net Galley for this ARC.

First of all thank you for approving my request!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The authors writing style had me hooked throughout this book.
I didn't want it to end, a book I really couldn't put down.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised I actually finished this book - but I wanted to know how it ended - so I guess there's that! It's dark and evil and brings out the nastiness of families with no likeable characters. Yet, somehow it was gripping enough to keep me engaged enough to want to know the conclusion. BP Walter crafts a story that feels a bit like a trainwrek - you can't stop yourself from reading until the end. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins One More Chapter for an ARC in exchange for my review. If the world doesn't feel quite dark and twisty enough for you these days - give this a read! No doubt many will like this book but it just wasn't for me.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for kindly providing me with this eARC.
This was my first book by this author and it was quite a good read. I love a psychological thriller when the author keeps you guessing with lots of good twist and turns and this one had those so it was a really enjoyable read.
Twenty years ago a tragic incident on a trip destroyed the Palmer family and since then they are doing every possible to not relive it but when a new tv show start playing the horrific tragedy of that night itโs very hard to ignore.
Everyone is hiding something nothing is how they seem and everyone has something to hide and they will do anything to keep those secrets hidden.
Itโs was an amazing reading and twist and turns were also very good. I really enjoyed it!

A story about 2 privileged, somewhat self-obsessed, teenaged brothers Kieran and Robert (Kieran more so, than his impressionable younger brother); who go away on holiday with their parentsto a house in Cornwall where they want to carry out a ritual sacrifice after being obsessed with a nutter online called The Raven โ and his theory of removing obstacles to a successful life or โpath of fulfilmentโ.
The story takes place in 2 timelines: Present day, and 2004, 21 years previously. The brothers, now adults are leading independent lives but Robert (the younger) feels some guilt over what happened in the tree house when they were teenagers. Suddenly, a 3 part thriller appears on TV โ of exactly what happened there, all those years ago โ giving details that only someone present would know; and Robertโs life implodes. He panics.
I skim-read this I think because I was so โun-enamouredโ of any of the characters (apart from Chloe). For me it was a story of 2 incredibly selfish psychopaths who wanted to make their easy lives, even easier. I think it would work as a 'holiday read', but is all-round depressing really. Horrible people, horrible family, stupid beliefs and horrible outcomes.

Family secrets, dual timelines, and major shady vibes? I was hooked.
Twenty years ago, something terrible happened on the Palmersโ summer holidayโand no oneโs talked about it since. But when a new true-crime-style TV show starts spilling the tea, the past refuses to stay buried. ๐
Think Eyes Wide Shut meets The Secret (without the graphic scenes) โ secretive brothers, weird rich family energy, and murky motivations that slowly unravel. Told across two timelines, this oneโs a total page-turner. You think you know where itโs goingโฆ you donโt.
If you love:
๐ช Twisty family dramas
๐ฐ๏ธ Dual timelines
๐ฎ Secrets that wonโt stay hidden
๐บ True crime vibes
Then The Treehouse needs to be on your TBR. Addictive, dark, and SO bingeable.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was a fast paced thriller with a unique plot and story line. Three solid stars.

already serving secrets between the lines. the sun might be warm, but this story isnโt. itโs creepy, a little eerie, and weirdly comforting in that โi need to know everythingโ kind of way.
