"A Cold Whisper by Casey Dunn had a slow start for me — it took a while to really get into the story. The creepy vibe was there, but I honestly struggled a bit with the multiple points of view; it made it harder to connect with the characters at first. Once the plot picked up, though, it kept me curious enough to see how everything would come together. If you like a slow-burn mystery with a few chilling twists, this might be your vibe — just be ready to stick with it through the beginning!"

this book is about trauma and so much about how one survives that. the eerie level and fear woven throughout the book is really well done. you cant help but feel for all the characters involved. so much of what happens to people in childhood they carry going forward. what happens to those who come out the foster care system with even more troubles that when they went in must truly be one of the cruelest of fates. this book was dark. this book was gripping. this book was a fabulous read.
i loved the dual timelines and it adds so much details and fills in blanks to questions you would have otherwise be left with.
i didnt see the twists coming and appreciate that this book didnt follow cliches of the subject but instead found a very real theme and went on from there.
two girls in this book handle what they went through very differently. but what is their link to other children who are now going missing in similar fashion.

Where did Rose go and why did she leave Lily alone in the snow? This has nagged at Lily for 25 years and now it's reared up large because a foster child has been found in a similar situation. This tells the story through multiple perspectives as Lily works through the question. Fans of thrillers might see the twist and answers coming but Durn has crafted good characters. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

I’m not sure if I was happy with the four different POVs, plus dual timeline. It might have worked better if the story had just the sister's POV. Even tho the character's stories intertwine, it was a bit much.
I couldn't truly relate to the characters and they weren't likeable either.
The beginning of the story dragged and I felt that some parts were clunky and repetitive. I didn't feel that the pacing found the right flow.
I did like the attention to the foster psystem. The story had some good twist and turns, but as an avid Thriller reader I saw the plot twist coming, but I am sure that others would be happily surprised by it. For me it was an okay read, but not spectacular. There are some triggers like childhood trauma, so check the triggers beforehand. This would be a nice read for beginning Thriller fans and people who enjoy multiple POVs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, NetGalley, and Severn House for this copy.

Three and a half stars rounded up. Casey Dunn’s “A Cold Whisper” had an interesting premise to me. Rose and Lily are sisters. When Rose was fourteen and Lily was seven they left their home during a blizzard to escape their abusive home. The next morning Lily woke up alone in the forest and for twenty-five years she has been searching for Rose.
Now a social worker, Lily has a knack for finding children who are in foster care, but run away. As she’s out looking for a few of those children, she has a couple of sightings where she believes she sees Rose. After a foster child is found dead in the snow and another child almost dies in a separate incident, Lily decides to deal with what happened to her as a child and find Rose to understand why she left Lily alone.
This book had a couple twists that made sense, but I didn’t necessarily like. There were several things left unexplained and the ending felt a little rushed to me.
Overall, I recommend this book. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.

A Cold Whisper by Casie Dunno is a gripping and atmospheric thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The eerie, suspenseful atmosphere is perfectly crafted, and the plot is filled with twists that keep you guessing until the very end. The characters are well-developed, and their complex relationships add emotional depth to the story. While the pacing is generally strong, there are a few moments where the narrative slows down, which slightly dampens the suspense. Despite this, Dunno’s writing shines, and the tension builds to a satisfying conclusion. A solid 4-star read for fans of chilling mysteries and psychological thrillers.

After a pretty slow start, the book developed into an enjoyable read, as one grasps the intertwining of the plots. Although several things were quite predictable, there were also surprising twists and turns, so all in all I found the book worth reading.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC copy, offered in exchange for my honest review.

2.5 stars
The premise sounded interesting, but I struggled with this one a bit. There are numerous storylines, and some of them unnecessary or unrealistic, which made it hard to follow at times. It might have been better to have just chosen two storylines throughout, particularly with the multiple timelines. In general, I did like Lily and Rose. Sadly, the end did not provide closure. Instead, there were unanswered questions.

Thank you to NetGalley and Severn House for my copy of A Cold Whisper by Casey Dunn.
Lily has spent her whole adult life helping helpless children, keeping them safe and doing her best to protect them. All because of her beloved older sister Rose who disappeared when Lily was 7, leaving her alone in a forest during a blizzard.
Rose has been missing ever since but now Lily has seen her, she knows she is near and Lily will stop at nothing to get to her before she can disappear again.

Starts out as a slow burn, but then really picks up. Initially, it was difficult for me to keep track of the characters and story. As the story moves along things start to make more sense and by the ending I was able to tie things together. It's not as fast paced and suspenseful as I usually prefer, but one that many will enjoy, especially if you like the them of surviving childhood trauma.
Thanks to NetGalley and Severn House for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The book starts off slow but that's okay for me because I like slow burns. The book is easy to read. There were twists that surprised me and others that were predictable. I guess when you read a lot of thrillers, it just becomes easier to figure things out. The book didn't blow me away, but I did enjoy it, and I do recommend it

Years earlier, Rose was 14 and Lily 7 when they ran away during a snowstorm. Lily wakes up alone in the snow and spends the next 25 years searching for her sister, who does not want to be found. When a child Lily works with a s a social worker is found dead in the snow in the present day, she becomes involved with the investigation. This was okay. I didn't really like Lily or Rose all that much. I kind of saw the ending coming earlier than it was spelled out more obviously. 2.5 stars rounded to 3.

I really enjoyed A Cold Whisper, though it wasn’t without its flaws. The multiple viewpoints kept things fresh and added depth, especially as the story alternates between Lily’s present-day struggles and the haunting mystery of what happened to her sister, Rose, all those years ago. The many characters introduced kept the suspense high, though it did get a bit tricky at times to keep track of everyone.
The chilling atmosphere of the snow-covered woods was well done, and the plot really picked up as dark secrets slowly came to light. Lily's work as a social worker and her personal trauma were compelling, and her journey to uncover the truth about Rose was both gripping and heartbreaking. The only downside was that sometimes the shifts between characters felt abrupt, but overall, the twists kept me on edge. Definitely a chilling read worth the time.

The multiple points of view and character introductions took a little while to grasp, but it finally clicked into place, and then the plot just kept me guessing! Every time I thought I knew what was about happen, the plot thickened and added more suspense. I really couldn’t put the book down and finished it over two days! Did not see that ending coming!!

The Snow Sisters takes readers on a haunting journey of mystery and trauma, Fourteen-year-old Rose and seven-year-old Lily flee their abusive home during a violent blizzard, but their plan goes tragically wrong. Rose vanishes, leaving Lily alone in the cold woods. Separated from her sister, Lily is left to grapple with a nightmare that she can never fully escape. This book keeps you hooked until the last page. Amazing.

Do you enjoy a thriller which leaves you questioning your gut? If so, this is the book for you, with engaging character development and various plot twists which will keep you wondering.
Sisters Rose & Lily runaway from their abusive home one night during a snowstorm, when Rose awakens the following morning Lily is gone leaving no trace - where has she gone? What’s happened to her?
25 years later Rose is a Social Worker specialising in missing foster children and notices a pattern with the disappearances. Working alongside the police to find the missing children they make a heart wrenching discovery leaving you questioning what happened.

Hard to keep track of the characters at first but towards the end it all made sense. Great twist and turns!

I loved this book! No one is who you think they are and this story really keeps you on your toes. And the last 20% is absolutely mind blowing! Couldn’t put it down! I loved getting the different POV’s. I did not expect that ending at all!

From the very beginning, I was HOOKED. I truly enjoy dual POV books, but this book extra close to home as all of my career up until last fall was as a CPS worker. The book gives four different POVs and although it is a slow burner, it gets SO SO SO good! I was completely on edge and entangled in the story line. With one plot twist, no one sees coming!

A very different book indeed! Told with multiple characters, it starts slow but ends on edge of your seat thrill! If you like difficult relationships and trauma, then you'll enjoy this book.
