For fans of Bridgerton and other hisorical romps this tells the story of a young woman forced to flee from her inherited fortune and unjustly accused of murder most foul. Henrietta witnesses her husband’s death and immediately suspects murder. Her husband the Duke of Severn held her in great trust but the journalist Theodore Hawk broke a scandal over them five years before which nearly destroyed her. Unfortunately he’s the only one she might be able to trust as she flees.
This is great fun and a very enjoyable. I used to love a Georgette Heyer and this book jumps on the revamped trend for period novels. I’m all for it.

What a fantastic story! I have loved all of Felicity George's books and this DOESN'T disappoint. Two sworn enemies thrown together to find out who murdered Edmund, The Duke of Severn - Henrietta's husband. When Theodore Hawke determines to solve the mystery and prove the Duchess's guilt, he doesn't expect Henrietta to put up a fight. Thrown together, the chemistry builds between them as they continue their search for Edmund's killer. We meet villains and heros and are left gasping as Henrietta and Theo's passion for one another builds to a climax. This book has everything and sizzles as you would expect from the pen of Felicity George. It's one of those wonderful books that swept me along and although I wanted to read to the end, I didn;t want the story to end. I think this may her best yet!

I love a historical romance! Especially a Georgian one, though this could really have been placed any time, the political and society details felt a little bit shoehorned in to the romance. But I really did enjoy it once I'd got into it. The second half, in my opinion, was stronger than the first half, mainly because the two opponents got to know and love each other, and I'm a right sucker for enemy to lover stories. Recommended.
