Two identical twin sisters with a long story of rivalry. Mia and Chloe are in her late 20s and trying to get back in touch after a long period of separation. But life changed them both and Chloe, the ´quiet one´ is decided this time to not allow her sister to destroy her life. No price is too high for this though... The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone is an interesting take on twins rivalry, generating a suspenseful psychological thriller where the plot is built up by fragments of memories, thoughts and switched personalities. The network of unconfessed guilt Chloe built as a way of psychological survival plays an important role in the main events. The pace is relatively slow, allowing to Chloe - the main storyteller, whose perspective is shared although the facts she referrs to are not obvious at the first sight - to explain herself, especially her reasons. I´ve read the book with a lot of interest, and my curiosity was rewarded step by step, as new details about the motivations and especially recent history details were revealed. The idea of how childhood trauma and relationships between parents and children shape the personality of the future adults is a topic I am interested in recently therefore The Quiet Sister helped me to better understand such circumstances.
A recommended read if you are looking for an intelligent take on sisterhood with a psychological mystery twist.

Every time I said one more chapter it ended on a cliff-hanger and I just had to know what was going on!!! This kept on happened over and over until before I knew it I had devoured the whole book in one sitting!! If you are going to read this then clear your day because it is truly unputdownable. I started this this morning and finished it at approx. 2pm, reading it in one sitting. This is one of those fascinating books that will have you questioning the characters and yourself throughout!!! You have no idea who to believe and if any other of them can be trusted!!! Alex has done an absolutely amazing job of weaving the multiple timelines of the past and present together at the perfect times leaving you needing to know what happens to each at the end of every chapter. This may be the first book I have read by this very talented author but it most certainly won't be the last and I cannot wait to get stuck into more of her previous and future books!!!
Alex's fantastic emotive and evocative writing skills brings each of the characters to life and leaves you feeling that you are standing next to them as their story unfolds and lives start to tumble around them. Each of the characters were realistic, well rounded and strong characters which makes it a realistic read. All the characters were well developed and are brought to life throughout this fantastic book! I was completely invested in each and every one of them. I have twins myself so every time I spot a book that has a storyline based around twins or with twins playing a large part of the storyline I just have to read it and I also find that I seem to become even deeper invested in twin characters! Each of the characters had their own unique personalities with their individual strengths, flaws, quirks and weaknesses. Alex really has done an absolutely fantastic job of creating such larger than life characters and they will stay with me for a long time as well as the storyline!
Overall an addictive and gripping rollercoaster of twists, family, suspense, tension and everything you could want in a gripping thriller!!

It's been a while since I've read one of Stone's books and I'd forgotten how good they actually are!
She also reminded me why I've never been keen on the idea of ever having a sister...
Narrated at a measured pace from the POV of twins Mia and Chloe, The Quiet Sister is a story of sibling rivalry, relationships and resentment.
The plot is complex and compelling, replete with twists and turns and is quite the addictive read. Whilst their characters are credible and their rivalries relatable, try as I might I couldn't emotionally invest in either of the girls. This didn't distract from it being a great read.
A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining thriller.

The premise of this book was interesting and engaging. Twins who struggled to connect and always competing. Neither twin was very likable. One was manipulative and the other was whiny.
This book should have been exciting but something about it fell flat for me. I think it was too long and so parts felt repeitive. With some editing and removing length the dialogue could have been more interesting or less flat. The other characters were very flat and the issues were quite obvious. It didn't feel particularly twisty to me.
I think there were other things that could have been delved into more deeply to have made the story that much more engaging.
Despite the issues with the story it was one that I wanted to keep reading because I did want to see how it turned out.
Overall, I think if you like psychological thrillers you should give this one a try for yourself. It didn't quite connect with me but I can see how it would appeal to many readers.

There is nothing quite like a sibling relationships and nothing quite like a twin relationship. It’s like extreme sibling rivalry, each side in the mirror wanting what the other has and Chloe and Mia are no different. Vying for parental attention, jealousy of what the other attracts.
I found the relationship between Mia and Chloe rather unique. Mia is a jet setter with he job and checks in with Chloe but has the expectation of getting undivided attention whilst Chloe is carving out her own content place in the world. Mia’s expectations are rather unrealistic – I didn’t like how she expected the world to revolve around her and everyone jumps to her script. Mia was not a sibling I’d like to have.
My narrating perspective shifted quickly from last to present and always told in the first person. It made it difficult and unsettling to not know who was talking to me to start with but as I went on, things became clearer and I rather enjoyed the trip Stone took me on.
Stone’s creative storytelling kept me glued to my kindle and as the story unfolded before me, I wanted to know more. I wanted a conclusion to explain everything – did I get it? You’ll have to read it yourself to find out. But I’ll definitely be reading more from Stone if this is anything to go by – a marvellous thriller!

The Quiet Sister was a thrilling read. I enjoyed my time reading this book and I was hooked from the start. I know this author writes amazing books and this was no different.
The book focuses on Chloe, who has a twin sister, Mia. Chloe had a difficult time growing up around Mia and her manipulative ways. Chloe is finding her happiness but Mia is trying to take it away from her, again. Their story is turbulent and even when one dies, their effect is still felt.
This book was a page turner, especially with the short chapters. I liked the use of flashbacks during the story as it gave the reader an insight to the twins life growing up. We also got to read from the perspective of past and present from before a significant event in their lives. I was engrossed in the story and I was excited to read more and discover secrets and lies. I highly recommend this book and author.

A slow and steady read that picked up the pace in the final quarter. That said, quite predictable. 3 stars.

First, I want to thank Alex Stone, Boldwood Books, Rachel’s Random Resources and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this book.
Never has a Psychological Thriller triggered similar emotions as the main character as it did in Alex Stone’s The Quiet Sister. The similarities of the story were somewhat relatable to what I have been dealing with. Both Chloe and I both lost our father who we were close with. She has a twin and I have an Irish twin (born 11 months apart) who couldn’t be more different from each other. My heart broke into a million pieces when Chole went to her Dad’s place to find out everything was gone, no memory of them were there.
Usually I can read a book in one sitting but this one It took me longer to finish. Not because it was not a good story-because she is a very good storyteller. Just for me I am still mourning my Dad and this was a little heavy too soon.
I totally understood how Chloe felt invisible when it came to the sibling rivalry with Mia.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone was a beautiful and powerful nail-biting psychological thriller, especially as this book is about twin sisters Mia is the golden twin, and Chloe, is the simmering shadow, their relationship is destroyed by jealousy. To outside world they always seems to be been close, like good sisters should be. But in private their relationship is one of jealousy, resentment and bitterness.
Popular and attractive Mia is always the centre of attention, loved by all. But, Quiet and reserved, Chloe is overlooked and underestimated, and has tried to build a life away from Mia and her manipulation. Finally she is happy and content.
Sadly when Mia returns she makes it very clear that she wants to be part of her sister’s life again, to have everything Chloe has. . . . . . . . including her new fiancé Scott.
Nothing will stop Mia, if she wants something. . . . . . she will get it. . . nothing will stop her!
Excellent book and full of lies, old tensions rises, and secrets come to the surface. But, then tragedy strikes. one sister will use the opportunity to live the life she has always wanted. . . . . . . the life she has always deserved.
I highly recommend this book Great holiday read.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially Boldwood Books for my ARC.

Alex Stone is a new to me author but is definitely one to watch. I love a good twin thriller trope and I found this one to be compelling. I thought it was twisty and entertaining, and contained the juicy bits I expect in a twin centered thriller.
I will definitely read more by this author.

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.
This nail-biting thriller tells the story of twin sisters Mia and Chloe, whose relationship is destroyed by jealousy. I found this book very psychological from the beginning; it played with my head, partly because the characters felt real to me.
As I carried on reading, I found that I had more unanswered questions. I began to feel conflicted, wondering whose side I should be on, or indeed if I should take any side at all. I felt the need to try and understand Mia and Chloe, and their relationship.
This book was spine-tingling and very clever. I found myself questioning right and wrong, and I think that sometimes you want a book that will play with your emotions in that sort of way.
Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.

It's not unusual for two sisters to be completely different, but add in the fact that they are twins and most would assume a close relationship between the two. Not Mia and Chloe. Mia wants the world at her feet, Choe just wants her little corner, free from stress and confrontations with her sister. Throw in a man that both want and something is bound to go BOOM! The story jumps from their youth, when the seeds of discord were sown to the present, where someone is going to pay for their disloyality. Alex Stone's story telling skills have improved with each of her titles. This one is a winner that's sure to raise an eyebrow or two as the sisters square off.

This book followed twin sisters; Mia, the golden child who was more popular, more beautiful, more confident and just better at everything. And Chloe, who had forced herself into the role of victim, forever in the shadow of her perfect sister. While it was interesting to see a negative twin dynamic, I felt like the story focused a bit too much on this. We get it, they didn't get on. Mia was a master manipulator and Chloe was the gullible one. I felt like it took the focus off the main story of what was happening with Chloe and Scott, and what ultimately led to the showdown at the end. Each character was awful, not one of them had anything good about them, and frankly too many people were getting caught up in the sisters rivalry.
It took me a little longer to get through this book than usual, purely because I felt the pacing was on the slower side. The last 20% of the book is where it really sped up.
Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me.

"Keep your enemies close.. your sister closer."
The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone is a gripping compulsive novel that you will easily read and just one or two sittings. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Diane Saxon and B. A. Paris.
Identical twin sisters Chloe and Mia have grown up together and their personalities have always been different. Mia is way more outgoing and popular while Chloe is more reserved and quiet. Their relationship has always been strained with Mia being manipulative and bossy. Chloe has tried to live a peaceful life away from Mia but when Mia barrels her way back into Chloe's life, Mia has made it clear she will get what she wants.. even if what she wants is Chloe's fiance.
This novel is set up in flashbacks which did take a little bit to get used to but once you are accustomed to the style you will fly right through this book! Seriously, I love identical twin stories and this is a great addition to the trope. As we read through the story we find out exactly what happened in the past that makes this sisterly relationship so tense. Definitely recommend for fans of twin thrillers!
Thank you to NetGalley, Alex Stone, and Boldwood Books for this ARC. Expected publication date is March 10th 2025.

The Quiet Sister by Alex Stone
Although this was a book from a writer I had never known before, when I read the description I really wanted to read it and was really pleased when I got that chance with an ARC from #NetGalley and the publisher Boldwood Books. All opinions here are my own.
This is a book about an identical twin who changed places with her sister and it takes place after her sister's murder.
I soon became totally engrossed in the story which was told almost totally from the perspective of the surviving twin.
Instead of using memories like have been used in many books the author used the mechanics in which entire chapters were flashbacks. This at first surprised me and it took me a little while to understand what was going on.
At the start it was a bit confusing since the chapters kept flashing back and forth from then to now but once I read for a,while I was able to truly understand the flow and became completely immersed in the story eagerly looking forward to my next reading time .
The book was filled with murder betrayal and all the best elements of a psychological thriller book.
Throughout the twists and turns and surprises kept me eager to read more and I was quite satisfied at the end.
The characters were well written and the descriptions made it very easy to follow .
I definitely recommend this book. I give it 4 stars and anyone that loves thrillers and murder mysteries will enjoy it.

I'm so happy I don't have a twin!
Mia and Chloe are sisters - twins, in fact. They have grown up together, Mia the more outgoing of the two, popular, while Chloe is quieter, more reserved. But Mia is a master manipulator, and her behaviour has not made for a smooth relationship but Chloe has been more than happy to build a life of her own, away from Mia. Until, that is, Mia returns and she hasn't changed a bit; she still covets everything and anything which Chloe has - including her fiance, Scott. But Chloe won't allow that to happen, not again . . .
This is a gripping tale of sisters where one deliberately overshadows the other at every turn and it makes for compulsive reading. I was in it's thrall from the beginning right through to the very end. I'm very glad I chose to read this one, it's really well written and merits all five stars plus my recommendation.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley.

Now everyone knows I love a twin book and this one was an absolute blast! One of the things I love to do is read about that very specific sibling relationship as I’m fascinated by the dynamics between twins and I think there’s lots of scope for a really good psychological thriller surrounding the connection between twin siblings. In The Quiet Sister, we meet identical twin sisters Chloe and Mia. They aren’t the closest of twins and we gradually find out why with a few shocking family revelations. Told in the Then and Now, we start to uncover how those secrets have changed the relationship between the women and what has happened to have one of them hiding away in the seaside town they grew up in.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Thr Quiet Sister and have already downloaded another book by Alex Stone based on that enjoyment! It’s an engaging read that didn’t take me long to finish as I was completely lost in the plot and needed to know how it finished. The ending wasn’t too much of a surprise for me but I thought it the perfect ending to the story that had come before. I’m certainly looking forward to reading more from this author-even without the twins!

As always with Alex Stone's books I felt invested right away and I was gripped by the twists and turns.

Wow
the entire time i was reading it (i WHIPPED through it in roughly 4 hours) my heart was pounding and i had so many theories and questions. if you love insanely well written and fast paced books with crazy plot twists and well developed, shady, and secretive characters - PLEASE READ THIS !!!!!

Is she or isn’t she? Is she Chloe or Mia?
The narrator switched often as did the time between back then and now.
Some things didn’t add up and I was frantically toying to keep track.
I do think Chloe had been given the short stick and I didn’t see much that Mia had to offer except mayhem and spite.
The scheme with Aaron was just wrong.
Still, people get their comeuppance and maybe the right twin will gain her inheritance.
