The first Detective Casey book and I enjoyed it a lot. Detective Casey is looking into young girls going missing. A good plot with plenty of twists to keep you interested. Well realised characters that developed well. A good intriguing to this series. The Patricia Rodriguez does an excellent job of narrating this novel. Thanks to Bookoutre audio and Netgalley for this review ARC.

Det. Casey takes on a complex case while she is still going through a turbulent time in her life after her daughter gets abducted right in front of Casey!
While working on this case she uncovers a pattern of serial kidnappers who seem to be running a professional network of this! Casey comes across a young girl in the woods, she seems to have just delivered a baby - but no one is able to find the baby!
As her team gets deeper into this mess they realize a lot of girls have gone missing without a trace! As Casey uncovers more truths it becomes apparent that her daughter might be alive - but what exactly is going on and is her daughter really alive!

This book kept me on the edge and I am now looking forward to reading the rest of the book in this seies!

Where Lost Girls Go
B.R. Spangler
Audiobook
5/5 Stars
Narrated by Patricia Rodriguez

Thanks to @netgalley, @bookouture, and @brspangler for the audio! The narration was outstanding, with Patricia Rodriguez bringing Detective Casey White to life brilliantly. Her voice was perfect for the main character and skillfully handled the side characters too.

I recently discovered this author, and with only the first book out of 11, I can't wait to continue this series. Although I haven't been a fan of detective novels in the past, I am now, at least when it comes to Detective Casey White. I loved the book's pace; it felt like I was right beside her, urging to hurry up as we were close to finding them. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Highly recommend!

Happy Reading

Where Lost Girls Go by B.R. Spangler? This one is a thriller you won’t be able to put down.
It’s dark, intense, and seriously atmospheric—perfect if you love a mystery that grips you from the start and doesn’t let go. The story follows a woman determined to uncover the truth about her sister’s disappearance, and honestly, it had me on the edge of my seat.

The writing is sharp, the pacing is relentless, and the twists? WOW. Every time I thought I had it figured out, another layer would peel back, and I was left reeling. The characters are complex, and you really feel the emotional weight of the situation—there’s no easy resolution here.

4/5 stars. A captivating, fast-paced thriller that leaves you questioning everything. If you love a good mystery with an emotional punch, this one’s for you!

This is the first in a series, its a high quality lengthy listen. The pacing is very slow to start with as we learn how a detective continues to look for her kidnapped daughter years on and is drawn into a greater mystery . I loved the complexity of the main character and the way we are part of her long journey to find peace. The mystery itself is interesting yet predictable a to b in places. There is a far amount of action and romamce in this but the pacing was a bit off for me and the length was uneccessary long. The ending was too predictable for me, the mystery was good and it was clear research had been done to ensure all the police proccedure stuff was spot ion. The narration was spot on and engaging. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a long mystery. I did become invested in the main character and her search for her daughter so i would love to read the read of the series as the ending felt very predictable as it was not a standalone story. Thank you netgallery, publisher, author and narrator

I am a fan of this series but have never read the first book. I figured it was time so I dove in. It was okay. I am glad I didn’t read this one first, I wouldn’t have read the rest of the series. This story moves so much slower than the rest of the series. It does have good characters, an interesting plot, and good villain. I just wish the pace was faster.

Where the lost girls go is the first book in the detective Casey White mystery series. Casey is following a lead about the disappearance of her daughter, who was snatched outside her home fourteen years earlier. Before she can even get to town, she discovers a young woman on death's door in the woods and calls it in. On discovering that she's a detective, the local police ask her to help with an investigation into two young women found dead on a yacht in the bay. Thinking that it might lead to finding her daughter, she sticks around and ends up finding out both cases are a lot more deadly and more disturbing than she thought possible.

This was one of those 'never a dull moment' books, packed full of action and mystery but also pulled on my heartstrings too.

I found myself rooting for Casey but also getting irritated with her too. Yes, she was a mother hellbent on finding out what happened to her daughter and the young women; I love a determined sleuth, but there were times where she'd do things that were questionable or downright dumb.

However, I enjoyed the bit of romance that she had going on with local police officer Jericho, who had his own sad backstory for her to contend with.

The audiobook took me a little longer than usual to get through as I didn't initially warm to the narrator, sometimes I felt it was a little over the top and other times it felt like she was about to tell me the news headlines which took me out of the story.

A decent start to the series and with a few open story threads, I want to pick up the next book in the series to see how it develops.

This was good, but not great. My first real experience of an audio book, and I don't think this format is for me.
When I read, I automatically envisage what's happening, but the narrator's voice really made me cringe and I had to concentrate very hard.
I wear hearing aids for Tinnitus, so I'm not able to listen through headphones or buds, so I won't be signing for any more audio books I'm afraid.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture Audio and BR Spangler for the audio arc of Where Lost Girls Go.
Narrated by Patricia Rodriguez

This is my first read by B. R. Spangler and it really pulled me in. I found his writing engaging and descriptive with plenty of character development. The plot line was twisty as we follow Detective Casey White who is investigating cases of teens going missing as well as trying to catch up with the ghosts of her past. Pretty much listened to this audiobook within a few sittings ( well walks!)

As this book is the first ( book 1 ) of the Detective Casey White, Ill be picking up the rest of the series .

*Where Lost Girls Go* by B.R. Spangler is the first book in the Detective Casey White series. The story begins with Detective Casey White discovering the body of a teenage girl in a white nightgown near the shoreline in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. This discovery reignites Casey's personal tragedy, as she wonders if the victim could be her own daughter, Hannah, who was abducted fourteen years ago. However, the victim turns out to be Cheryl Parry, one of two sisters kidnapped during a family vacation years earlier.

As Casey investigates, she uncovers chilling evidence of a twisted killer who has been operating in the area for years. The case takes a personal turn when Casey finds a charm bracelet identical to the one her daughter used to wear. Spangler weaves suspense, emotional depth, and unexpected twists into this gripping crime thriller, making it a compelling read for fans of mysteries and thrillers

Really liked the thrill in this thriller, sometimes they're lackluster but this one kept me engaged throughout. I'm definitely interested in following Detective Casey through more mysteries and will check out other books by this author.

This was my first audio book experience, and I think I prefer to read the book myself. It was harder for me to follow by listening with only one narrator. That being said, I did really enjoy this book! It was a great story with a strong and interesting female lead character. The differing timelines was hard to follow by audio but would have made more sense reading. I also appreciate the different points of view and feeling like you're getting the entire story. This is book one in a series, and I look forward to reading more of the series for sure. It is a typical detective story but certainly kept you guessing as well.

I read this on audio. I am all about a good audiobook and this one was easy to listen too, The narrator did a good job with this. Even listened to on 2x speed, I was able to understand the narrator. It did take me a few chapters to "get used to" the narrator but overall I enjoyed her reading style.

As for the book. I gave this book 3 stars. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. A good thriller is the perfect thing while doing all of the household chores and or driving and this book fit that bill well. There were a few things that I didn't enjoy and in the grand scheme of things those things don't matter. With that being said. a few of the name choices were, well, interesting. Other than that, it held my attention and really enjoyed Casey's character.

Where Lost Girls Go by B.R. Spangler was a thrilling book that made me want to keep reading. The opening, as a mother, was heart wrenching, and I just had to keep reading. As some other readers say, it is not the most realistic book in the world, so if you are reading for a taste of reality, maybe avoid this book. If you are looking for a great thriller that is a little far fetched, this book is for you! I thoroughly enjoyed the overall story and characters.

This (audio) book really tore at your heart strings. To think that these places do exist. It certainly had the feel of Where the Crawdad's sing. I enjoyed the story line. It's always a fun challenge to try and guess the ending and at which point you can. This one kept me going for quite a while. Thank you for the opportunity to be selected to listed to the audio version of this book, narration was excellent.

This was my first book by B.R. Spangler, but I was not disappointed at all. I can't wait to read more from this author and more from this series.

This book starts as a mom trying to solve the mystery of her kidnapped daughter that turns into multiple mysteries that involves a lot of the town the detective finds herself in. As I was listening, I kept trying to figure out who done it. I was wrong which I am happy with. The pacing was good as you get into the first story which takes some time but then it takes off with a twist here and a twist there. Kept me engaged the entire time. There was an element of romance which might seem weird but it works in this story. I could see this book being made into a movie.

I love books that are part of a series, so this was off to a good start right away. I will start by saying that I enjoyed this story and it did leave me wanting more, which will come in book 2. I 'read' the book as an audiobook which was a relatively new experience for me. I liked it! The narrator was believable as Detective White and I felt that she was sitting with me while telling her story. I think it might have been better to have a male narrator for the male characters so the listener would be able to more easily detect dialogue shifts but that was a minor 'issue'. I will definitely find book 2 to add to my TBR for vacation reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the audio copy of this book.

I’m really into detective novels and TV shows and I enjoyed the book. I listened to the book’s audio version which I usually do with mystery and thriller books and the audiobook narration was okay. The narration felt animated at times and high pitched at other times other than that it was enjoyable.

The story itself was very hard breaking and Casey’s feelings came across very well and I could fell her loss as a mother. It was not very high paced but there was some really good twists especially the one at the end which I didn’t expect at all. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC which was very much appreciated.

This worked well and ticked all the boxes for me. This is a new detective series for me as well as a new author. I found the narration suited the style and worked well.

Yes there were loads of coincidences but that is part of getting involved in a story where you have to suspend belief and just get involved in the story.
