I absolutely loved this book - it was so cute. The characters were so well-written. I thought that Anna's thoughts were relatable and her situations were realistic. It was refreshing to read how well she was managing her life with her children and a career.
I liked how Will broke down Anna's preconceptions about him and showed his vulnerability. He suddenly became a much more likeable character and had me rooting for him. Anna and Will's banter was engaging and their chemistry was just so magnetic. The secondary characters were also fun and endearing.
This wasn't a story of rediscovery, rather it was a story of shedding inhibitions, gaining confidence and having the capability of driving life into a happy and fulfilling new direction.

Sophie Cousens has become an auto-read for me. I enjoy her writing style, the characters, the plot. Is She Really Going Out With Him? ticked all my boxes, I loved the main characters and the supporting characters, the chemistry and romance were great. The whole story was so relatable, heartwarming, with some more serious topics, but a lot of fun moments too.
I loved it and really recommend this book!
Thank you to the publisher who provided me with an e-copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sophie never misses. This was laugh out loud funny with great chemistry. I was pulled in from the first chapter and entertained all the way through.

Thank you netgalley and Hodder for this arc. who doesn't love a sophie cousins book. This latest edition had me sucked right in from the very moment I started reading. It had many laugh out loud moments and was a really wholesome read. I did predict the ending but that made it even more of my favourite read as I was egging the two main characters on. Thank you again I highly recommmend!

Absolutely loved it
I have read all Sophie ’Cousens’ books and have adored them all, and this one is no exception.
The plot is a little predictable but it is still a very enjoyable read. I loved the main characters and all the supporting characters. This book has it all - it’s funny, romantic, heartwarming. I wish I could read it again for the first time. Already can’t wait for her next book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advance copy.

Is She Going Out With Him, by Sophie Cousens, is about divorcee Anna. It’s a page-turner that expertly balances heart and humour. Anna is relatable and male main character Will also well-drawn. I found the plot slightly more predictable than I was hoping for, given the quality of the writing, but thoroughly recommend this read nonetheless.

This was such a fun and heartwarming read! I loved Anna’s character – she’s relatable, funny, and easy to root for. The idea of her kids picking her dates was hilarious and added a sweet, unique twist. There were so many laugh-out-loud moments, but also some real emotion as Anna dealt with her divorce, work stress, and trying to open her heart again. I especially enjoyed the chemistry between Anna and Will. A feel-good romcom with quirky characters and charming moments throughout. Definitely one of my favourite romcoms this year! Sophie Cousens never disappoints.

Another brilliant read from Sophie Cousens
Recently divorced mum of two witnesses her ex-husband move on with his life, Journalist Anna is now fearing for her job as her ‘column’ doesn’t fit with Crispin’s vision her boss needs more from her and she’s now threatened by co-worker Will loved by Crispin… Anna’s dating adventures go up a notch.
Dating wasn’t working for Anna and the column needed a new spin - enter Anna’s children Jess and Ethan. Anna’s new dating adventures begin with dates picked by her children - well this just got interesting.
Anna found her love literally in front of her and had been for quite some time - this is after many more dating mishaps along the way.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Is she really going out with him? - Sophie Cousens

This was a cute and fun read! Focusing around a divorced mum and her adventures and dramas in dating, this turns out be really sweet. I also loved her relationships with her kids and navigating the world of interacting with your ex!

Journalist Anna Appleby has recently gone through a divorce and then realises her job is on the line when her office rival tries to take her column. Desperate to keep it Anna pitches an idea to go on dates chosen by her children. When an unexpected romantic connection occurs, will she decide to take it?
I have to start off by saying, why have I not read more books by this author!? I absolutely adored this one and can safely say it has rocketed up to one of my favourites of the year. I love a rom com and this had plenty of laugh out loud moments and more serious emotional scenes. I absolutely loved Anna’s dates from the weird to the wonderful, there was a lot of banter and humour to be had. I enjoyed that they all offered something slightly different.
Anna was a fantastic lead character, I found I warmed to her quickly and was really rooting for her. I loved all the other quirky characters also. The Google searches at the end of each chapter offered a really fun (and funny) added element. The romance felt authentic and I could feel the sparks coming out of the pages. Overall I had a great time with this one and will make sure to go back and see what other books by this author I have been missing! I know I won’t forget this in a hurry. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

I was delighted to be approved to read Sophie’s new book after reading and loving her previous ones - and I was not disappointed.
Journalist and divorced mum of two Anna desperately needs a way to get an edge at work so what better than to go out on dates as suggested by her children? And so begins Anna’s real life adventures in dating, alongside colleague Will who is experimenting on dating apps for his own writing.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I really related to Anna and the modern day struggles of being a working mum.
Thanks Sophie and NetGalley for a lovely read.

This book made me laugh in so many places, definitely the definition of a rom=com! Light-hearted with serious themes throughout I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to whatever the author produces next.

I absolutely loved this book and it was just what I needed to read. There were laugh out loud moments and the characters were fantastically rounded and real. It is the classic will they won’t they but so much more relatable than other versions of it. If you want a bit of lighthearted escapism, read this book.

This was the book I didn’t know I needed! Finally a realistic romance for a divorced single mum in their 30’s! This was just perfect, I laughed out loud so many times, the different dates were brilliant! At times it was emotional and you really felt for the FMC, the normal daily struggles can be a lot and it kind of makes you realise that. I loved the storyline with Will, I also loved how it got to the end, realistic and not just plain sailing. I will be recommending this to everyone!

I adored this book.
A real feel-good page turner full of ‘will they, won’t they’ vibes that left me rooting for the main character and with a warm feeling at the end.

This was a really fun and quirky read that I flew through. I loved the premise of Anna's children picking out her dates - they chose a wide variety of men that would not have all been Anna's pick if she was to choose herself. However venturing out on dates she wouldn't have chosen herself allowed her to make new friends and mend broken relationships. I really loved the relationship between Will and Anna, they were navigating life and dating together, allowing their relationship as colleagues and friends to also bloom.

there is the genre of romance and then like a million different types in branches that come off that. and this falls into one of my fave. it has all the bits you want. its quirky, its fun. yes the romance can be too much for the cynical. but i implore you to let that part of yourself go so that you can just really really enjoy these romance for what they are. which is joyous, wonderful books. and when done well they shine. Sophie has a way of doing just that. and its never too tropey so you feel like its "ick". you never feel like its too unbelievable or that the old cynical voice might creep back in.
because stranger things have happened and stranger scenarios exist. and Sophie in the writing of her books make them real enough but also such wonderful worlds of escapism.
you fall in love with these kind of books.
Anna is almost 40. shes a journalist living in Bath. shes divorced and her ex is doing what ex's like him do. and Anna feels fine with her life. shes got her life sorted. shes got her kids and her cat. and her job. or she thought she had her job. until the boss wants something more from her and wants her to up her game if she is going to keep the job.
so Anna does what she needs to do and comes up with a new article based on dating. but dating via her kids. and it will be her kids who will chose the dates.
it all sounds great. or should be. if it wasnt for someone who is going against her for the job...Will. and he has pledged his own article. his column will be against hers with online dates that HE will go on. okaaaay this is war.
and so onwards Anna goes on these dates(haha, some of them!) but also onwards is her need and more often than not failing fight, to not be attracted to Will. especially as somehow they keep managing to spend time together. and the way he challenges her seems to be really making her think. and think differently about Will.
love these kind of books. love this book. and i look forward to more from this author.

I loved Is She Really Going Out With Him. I have enjoyed all of Sophie's books so far and this is another great one. Easy to read, great characters, brilliant.

I really enjoyed this novel. Will and Anna’s journey from enemies ish to lovers while also learning about dating, and more about themselves, was a great read. Perfect to enjoy on a sun lounger this year!

A lighthearted and engaging read with a relatable main character navigating love, family, and self-growth ❤️✨ While some moments felt predictable, the character development—especially with Will—was well done. I loved how the story unfolded gradually, revealing layers to relationships and personal growth. The friendships Anna built along the way added warmth, and the ending tied everything together beautifully 😊🌸 A fun, heartfelt read! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
