Loved this book! The illustrations were beautiful as it tells about the evolution of each of the seasons and it’s waking from slumber.

This one reminded me of stories i used to read! The illustrations added so much to the story! I loved the concept of the various months simply sleeping and “waiting their turn”! Loved it!

This was a truly beautiful read, both in the writing and the illustrations. I found myself just staring at and taking in the gorgeous seasonal illustrations for longer than normal. The imagery and prose were stunning as well. This was easily a favorite children’s book from NetGalley!

Some days, you want an interjection of a light whimsical read. I'm not too adult to pick up a children's book! So take a pause with me!

This book was so so so breathtakingly beautiful! Absolutely adore this depiction of the seasons! The illustrations are gorgeous and vibrant, full of life and color! The prose are poetic and dreamy. Perfect bedtime story evoking a warmth and coziness as if the words are giving you a gentle hug and tucking you in.

I really want a physical copy of this book for any future grandbabies my son and his wife will hopefully gift me one day!

This is a wonderful bedtime book for little ones, with a lovely rhyming tale of the passing of the seasons as personified by nature's changes, coupled with spectacular illustrations. As each season wakes and has its impact, the next season slumbers, waiting for its turn.

"Spring comes after Winter's turn/While Summer stays in bed/This is how it's always been - Now time to rest your head"

Ably translated from the original Norwegian by Megan Turney and Rachel Rankin, there's a lovely sing-song quality to this beautiful picture book that will likely prove enjoyable and highly re-readable for little ones at bedtime, and their adults who have to read it over and over.

Created by Norwegian-Gambian sisters Haddy Jatou N'jie and Lisa Aisato, with its vibrant, detailed illustrations that have a real 'wow' factor coupled with a simple yet somewhat profound message for little ones about time passing, everything having its time, and all of nature needing periods of sleep and waking (like the snuggling child listening themselves), this is a top-notch kids read.

This is the kind of lyrical picture book that makes your soul feel well-fed—seasonal, poetic, and gorgeously universal. If your bookshelf has room for a bit more heart and a little less noise, this one fits. I would hang this artwork in my home.

A truly beautiful story written in poetry form about the changing of the seasons. Whimsical fairytale-esque characters wonderfully illustrate a story about how each season changes and merges into another. Children will enjoy admiring the illustrations and reading along each word of this charming story.

Not only for children, but a balm for everyone in verse and illustrations and the perfect book for sitting together and sharing the magic of the words and meaningful illustrations.
Haddy Jatou N'jie is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, writer and journalist. The illustrations are by Lisa Alsato, and it is translated from the Norwegian thanks to Megan Turney (Translator), and Rachel Rankin (Translator)
The illustrations by Lisa Alsato are imaginative, softly colorful, and whimsical.
Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age, including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library!

I have been looking for an illustrated book about the seasons for a while, to use in my ESL unit on time and weather. The title of A DREAM FOR EVERY SEASON therefore caught my eye as I was scanning the upcoming releases.

I have strict criteria about the materials I use: I need very strong illustrations (to draw in children that do not understand English yet) and beautiful, rhythmic writing (the aim being to familiarise my students with the music of the English language).

A DREAM FOR EVERY SEASON more than delivers on both counts.

The illustrations are gorgeous, whimsical and poetic. The vibrant colours, delicate lines and original composition will no doubt enchant the little ones as much as they did me.

The text is lyrical without being too complex for comprehension, easy to read aloud, with a lovely beat. I believe it is crucial to make poetry accessible and enjoyable to children and this is what this sweet and flowing poem will do. The repetitions of some of the lines provide a chorus of sort and also echo the cyclical nature of the seasons.

Honestly, I would buy the book if only for the first spread: spring sleeping, burrowed under the cover of the snowy winter. Truly magical.

A “coup de coeur” for me and definitely making it onto next year’s syllabus!

This is probably the prettiest book I have ever seen. The colours, the inclusivity, the details, the prose… I was left shocked by the end, by how cute, nostalgic and melancholic this simple children’s story was. Following season after season, we get to see the colours change and people grow.

I would absolutely recommend this.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy.

What a dreamy and whimsical book. The verses flowed and had movement like the winds carrying the seasons. The illustrations are magical and really draw the reader in. Overall, a beautiful book that I can't wait to buy and save for my daughter.

Read this to my daughter (6 years old) to go along with a Welcome to Spring meditation event she participated in at our local bookshop. I stumbled on some of the verbiage while reading it the first time and found the font size difficult to read off my phone, but she absolutely loved the illustrations, with fall being her favorite! Very vibrant and eye catching.

This was a sweet bedtime story with unique illustrations. My only note is that the text was hard to read on the background colours on some pages. Maybe this will differ in the printed book!

I was drawn to this because of the cover and title. I love finding books about the seasons to share with my students.

This story serves as a bedtime story, where children dream about each season to come. The illustrations were so lovely, just whimsical and full of color. I loved the things chosen for each season, things kids can easily find outdoors and identify.

Thanks to NetGalley and Arctis Books for the ARC of this previously published book. All opinions are my own.

Before I launch into my review, I would like to say a huge thank you to Haddy Njie, Lisa Aisato, Arctis Books, and Netgalley for the Digital Reader Copy of this title. For anyone with their eye on this title, here is my personal review of the book to help you decide whether you are interested or not. All opinions offered are my own.

Kirkus Reviews was not lying when they wrote, ‘Readers of all ages will happily study the painterly illustrations for seasons to come, and the verse creates a soothing lullaby perfect for a nap at any time of the year. I was utterly blown away by the imagery surrounding the young girls in the book. They reminded me a little of Gustav Klimt mixed with a little Anne Geddes. I can see why Aisato is an international award winning artist. I actually had the read the book twice because I was unable to focus on both the illustrations and the words at the same time.

The book had a beautiful rhythm. I often criticize books written in rhyme for trying to squash a concept into a line and adding too many or too few syllables that the reader is thrown off the beat. This book was perfectly timed.

I appreciated the rhymes describing how seasons change and taking us through them in order. Young children will enjoy the sing-song melody as their care giver reads to them, whilst older children might find the text a little challenging on the surface level because of the verse construction. Overall, it is an absolutely stunning book that is creatively constructed. No need to walk or form an orderly queue. Run! Your copy of this 5 out of 5 stars book awaits.

A Dream For Every Season is beautifully written and illustrated. It's dreamy poetic, and the rhyming words are so fun. There are so many amazing vocabulary words to support language expansion.

Stunning illustrations accompany beautiful, simple yet profound words that remind all audiences of the truth in the seasons: that each stage will pass and that even in the most bitter of winters, the life, colour and joy of spring is only sleeping. A tonic for the soul for young and old alike!

⭐️ 5/5
This is a beautifully written and beautifully illustrated children’s book! We are immersed into the dreams of a child, themed around each season. My 4 year old and I were mesmerized and captivated by the magnificent, colorful details that each page displayed. The adjectives also that explain the dreams set us in each of the beautiful seasons so delightfully and peacefully.
I look forward to recommending this to my friends who are also parents of little ones!
