The illustrations in this are absolutely gorgeous, and I think this is one of those children's books that's worth purchasing just for the art alone. This book IS translated, and I think some of the language/phrasing that was chosen may be a little challenging and hard to follow depending on the age of the child this is being read to. But the illustrations do help to convey the process of the seasons changing well. Again, just breathtaking illustrations!

Seasonal Insights

This book beautifully brought together a great opportunity for instilling the order and signs of the different seasons.

The illustrations were absolutely gorgeous, vibrant and really spotlighted the uniqueness of each season. It still had a consistent pattern to how the pictures were delivered to tie into the actual storyline.

To me this books cozy story time classroom/library reading time as a class. I think it would also make a great bedtime edition to a household as well.

I received a copy of this book from Haddy Njie. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

Netgalley ARC - The art work is beautiful, though some characters are more cute and some are more disconcerting. I think the translated text itself works well.

Absolutely gorgeous. The art in this book is a marvel. It's magical and upliting—a true celebration of the seasons. Like the art, the story is also a beautiful reflection of the changing of the seasons. But the art. Have I mentioned how much I love the art?! It really is exceptional.

What a delightful and colourful book! The illustrations are beautiful, I like how they are centred on the pages, bold and bright. The story has a wonderful flow, reading it to my kids was fun. They like to repetition and rhyming. This is a lovely story illustrating how our seasons flow into each other, each taking their turn in taking us through a different journey.

A book of much credit – although while I'm crediting the illustrator with being really very good indeed, and with the translators for creating a wonderful poem, I can't pretend to know what the original writing was like. This slightly wordy picture book is a rhyme celebrating all the seasons – a nice chorus-like structure takes us from one to the next in turn, who is always asleep – Spring sleeps through Winter, and while Spring is active Summer is yet to wake, and so on. But each in turn comes up and does their thing, allowing us to celebrate with them anything from the blossoms and the "berries fit to squeeze" to the "last wasp of the year", which must be a first in children's literature.

As I say it's not the lightest textually – sometimes we get four long lines of couplets on the page, and in relatively small print, so this would be one to share perhaps. But the visuals are the selling point, humanising the quarters of the year so well and with such fine detail, and showing the seasons and other characters in bed so richly. Everything is rich and decadent for the eyes, and while the rhythm and line length can stumble at times, it's almost that for the ears too when using this as a read-aloud. A great success, and a strong four stars at least.

I greatly enjoyed this translation of A Dream For Every Season, originally written by Haddy Njle and illustrated by Lisa Alsato, This picture book, is a perfect bedtime book for young readers, that talks about the different seasons, and how even the seasons have to go to sleep as do we. This is written at a level that is easy for little learners to understand, and also uses rhyming as well as words that will appeal to different senses. I appreciated the beautiful illustrations that accompany the book, as well as the different examples of things that the children will see in the various seasons. I can see this being an enjoyable book that little ones and their families will be able to read again and again!
Thank you to NetGalley, as well as to the author, illustrator, publisher, and translator of this book for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
