It's rare that a romance author does something truly original-- Elizabeth Stephens achieved this with this book! Fun, action-packed, sexy and unique-- this romance stands out in the pack.

I really enjoyed this take on heroes and villains. I loved how our main characters went from enemy’s to lovers fairly quickly. I will say I had a lot of I think this is going to happen but then it didn’t so I’m actually quite glad it wasn’t super predictable. I would have liked more regarding the villains so they could be throughout the whole book and make it a more enjoyable book so when we got to the villains then we understood a bit more. Overall, I really enjoyed this ARC. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this early!

I am at that stage where I immediately start trying to find comparators for books I have read to help give friends and family an idea of what to expect from the story. All Superheroes Need PR is one of those books that defies categorization. It is funny, heartfelt, over the top, a bit of workplace romance tinged with the supernatural/paranormal. There are shades of Beauty and the Beast, a bit of "The Boys" TV series/Avengers vibes, and a gruff MMC that gives off Mafia-style "touch her and die" vibes without the dark romance atmosphere.

I loved all of it! Vanessa and all of her friends, family and co-workers were so much fun to read. Her anxiety wasn't smoothed over, but allowed to take up space and be an important part of her relationship evolution with Roland. Roland himself was the perfect grump, with an insta-love situation that only got more serious as the story progressed. Vanessa had a great story arc as well, as she allowed herself to step into her feelings for Roland. And her clumsiness made for some excellent scenes with humor and a chance for Roland to go all adorable and sweet and overprotective.

The set-up with the leagues of heroes and villains made me want more in the world, and I do hope this isn't the last we see of it.

If could give this book more than five stars I would. I have several Elizabeth Stephens books on my shelves but this was the first book I've ever read from her. I am so happy that it was this book that will start my obsession! The book was so funny, cute, engaging, had drama, bad guys, and quirky friends. I adored every part of this book and will need a whole series, a novella + several special editions. Nessa and Rollo were the cutest and most wholesome couple. #AllSuperheroesNeedPR #NetGalley

Twenty-something years ago, 48 alien shuttles crash-landed on Earth bearing children with no recollection of who they were, where they’d come from, and why they’d come to Earth in the first place. They were placed with host families around the world, where they grew up learning to hone the supernatural abilities they all seemed to possess. For an unknown reason, the Forty-Eight, as they’ve come to be known, split off into alliances: Villains and Champions.

Roland, dubbed the Pyro, is the most recent member of the Forty-Eight to pick sides; as the Champions’ newest hero, he desperately needs a PR makeover since he’s the least heroic hero the Champions have ever seen. Vanessa’s PR agency bids to take on the Pyro’s public persona. They’re very good at spin, which is handy since they’re going to need to be the best of the best if they’re going to get anywhere with Roland’s image. First order of business is a new moniker and a girlfriend — Vanessa might be shy and deal with anxiety, but she’s who Roland wants at his side.

I loved this book. Full disclosure: I’m a big Elizabeth Stephens fan and was thrilled to see she had a traditionally published book coming, and All Heroes Need PR did not disappoint! Roland and Vanessa are both byproducts of dubious childhood environments who both chose their own destinies, sketchy backgrounds or not. Stephens deftly explores what it means to be a hero, a survivor, and being capable of love. Especially intriguing is the question: if you had no recollection of your past and who you were, what kind of person would you choose to be?

I loved how absolutely unhinged Roland was, especially in terms of his inner monologue. He was by turning amusing and baffling, and a perfect protector of Vanessa. Vanessa, too, was unhinged in her own subtle way, which somehow kept Roland balanced. If you grew up a fan of Superman and enjoy spice with your adventures, you’ll love All Heroes Need PR! Five stars.

I received an advance copy of All Superheroes Need PR: Supers in the City by Elizabeth Stephens in exchange for an honest review—and I’m so glad I did!

It took me about two chapters to really get into the story, but once things clicked, I was totally hooked. This book is a unique mix of romance, superhero action, and a fun sci-fi twist that kept me turning the pages. I originally went in expecting a light rom-com, and while there are definitely some funny moments, I’d say it leans more toward full-on romance, especially in the later chapters.

The characters had great chemistry, and I really enjoyed the world Stephens built—it felt fresh and different from your usual romance setting. The superhero/alien angle was such a cool change of pace.

This one is definitely for adults, with some steamy moments and a storyline that doesn't hold back. If you’re looking for something a little different in the romance genre—fun, flirty, and just the right amount of out-of-this-world—I’d recommend giving this a try!

What a wild, unpredictable journey—All Superheroes Need PR took me places I never expected, especially when it turned into a monster romance (in the best way possible). I absolutely loved the twisty, genre-bending story and the heartfelt depth it carried. The main character, a Black woman with social anxiety, is beautifully written with authentic mental health representation that hit close to home. Seeing her loved and accepted just as she is? Powerful. The LGBTQIA+ representation throughout is also a huge plus. I’m sincerely hoping this is just the beginning of a full series—give me ten books, twenty even—exploring all the superheroes, villains, and the unexpected ways they might fall in love. I'm all in.

💖Elizabeth Stephens reminding me why I love her💖

I’m obsessed with this book and with Vanessa and Roland. Roland is the most perfect grump with anger issues (still very loveable) and Vanessa is a hard working career oriented woman who is tasked with the impossible- transforming Roland’s fiery public image. The banter had me giggling and kicking my feet. The dual POV added depth to the story and during the spice scenes? Phew 😮‍💨 The monstrous twist at the end was everything my heart needed.

I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of The Boys TV series.

I appreciate ES for spreading her wings and writing a story that is somewhat fresh, a story that is very inclusive of all backgrounds. There’s just something missing that’s not making this work all the way for me. I kept thinking, would it have made a difference if we started with Roland’s POV or back story first to draw me in more or make me appreciate Vanessa as a leading female character, maybe?, as It stands she annoyed the ever living s** out of me and I couldn’t understand what Roland really saw in her other than physical attributes.

Also the 3rd act was very convoluted to the point where I was confused if she had some sort of super power or not.
Actually for the way her personality type was written, I was hoping that deep down, for her sake she had some hidden powers or something. Oh! and she was not behaving like someone in her mid thirties ( maybe that’s what was throwing me off).
So to be clear, didn’t totally hate this story. I’ll look out for the next one and hope it’s better.

Overall this was a very fun take on a superhero.(or villian) romance. I just loved the whole premise of this world and honestly can't wait to read about all the different characters in this world and their romances.

Also I am just a sucker for a romance with a quiet but obsessed love interest and the other love interest being obvious to all of this. Roland and Vanessa were just such a delight to read about.

You know when you're watching the Olympics and they show an Olympian trying to beat their own PR or WR?

Well that's how it is reading an Elizabeth Stephens book, will this MMC be more feral for his woman than the last?

I love it.

Rollo must be protected at all costs! Even though we *knew* (that hot art on Elizabeth's page) the unraveling of it all was pretty interesting and now I have so many questions. And now...we wait.

Thanks Montlake for the eARC, all thoughts are my own.

*4.5

I actually have no idea what to say about this book. It turned a corner that I wasn't expecting and don't know how to feel about it. Overall I liked it. It was so funny to hear Roland constantly say at the beginning how much he wanted to kidnap her. He had no idea how to be in a relationship. I kind of hope her best friend and brother get a book.

I received an arc through netgalley.

I HATE how long it took me to get around to reading this. I was missing out on this the whole time?!!! Van and Rollo are just so perfect. The premise is a great setup for a new series. Think, “The Boys” only less gory and weird. And the spice! Literally had me blushing. Stop wasting time reading reviews and just go read this. It’s unique, steamy, heartwarming, AND action packed.

A new series from Elizabeth Stephens? And it's about superheroes? Yes please!

Roland is a growly, grumbly hero and I'm here for it! And I love Vanessa, the smart owner of a thriving PR firm who also lives with anxiety and PTSD.

A diverse, chaotic and hilarious bunch of coworkers and family members make this even more fun.

This book is not as dark as Elizabeth Stephens’ Beast of Gatamorra books. But is a refreshing take on a world combining humans and superheroes.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series already!

"All Superheroes Need PR" was such a unique take on workplace romance and superbeings/aliens.

Immediately readers are thrown into the deep end and not given much information to make sense of this alternate world. I so wanted to understand and found myself unable to put it down. Unfortunately, many of the mysteries remain unsolved as the romance overshadows them.

The workplace dynamic also took a back seat as well, despite the title. I did like the few snippets we got of the PR work, but I would have loved to see more.

The romance was so cute and I loved reading Roland's slightly unhinged inner monologue! Though not explicitly stated, much of their connection stems from being fated mates and their relationship progresses very quickly. While I think the story could have benefited from a slower burn, I still loved their dynamic.

I think this would be perfect for someone who wants a quick spicy read, with a big cast and fantastical world! I am hopeful that future books in the series will delve deeper.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

There’s a clever premise at the heart of All Superheroes Need PR: a rebranding project for a brooding villain trying to turn over a new cape. It’s playful, high-concept, and promises an unusual blend of superhero tropes and romantic comedy. And while the world is imaginative and the writing easy to follow, the story didn’t quite land the way I had hoped based on the blurb.

The opening introduces us to a universe where superheroes and villains are more like public brands than mythic icons, and that hook pulled me in immediately. The idea of a PR professional managing the optics of a villain-turned-hero offers so much opportunity for humor, commentary, and unexpected feels. Unfortunately, despite that potential, the actual PR angle felt surprisingly thin. I had hoped for workplace antics, image makeovers, and sharp jabs at media culture. Instead, much of the story pulled away from that and leaned head first into the romance without giving the initial premise enough attention.

Vanessa, our heroine, is painted as sweet, anxious, and introverted, which should make for a relatable underdog lead. But I struggled with how the narrative treated her anxiety. Rather than showcasing her growth or complexity, the story often leaned into portraying her as someone who needed to be protected or coddled by those around her. It made it harder to see her as a dynamic force in the story.

Roland, meanwhile, was just fine. We’re told he’s morally gray, that he’s dangerous, that he’s wrestling with darkness, but little of that truly comes through in how his character is written. He felt more like an asshole-ish reluctant hero than someone with real villain roots. Their romance is the heart of the story, and while it had some sweet moments, it also felt rushed, and I didn’t find myself swept away by their chemistry.

That said, the world is genuinely fun. There’s a lot of room here to expand, to dive deeper into other characters and corners of this superhero-filled landscape. It’s clear that this is a first installment laying the groundwork for more stories, and I would absolutely return for future entries, especially if they dig more into the clever foundations and give us characters with a bit more spark.

This was so much fun! It’s a mashup of everything I love. It’s a romance novel but it has elements of My Hero Academia and my favorite Marvel and DC comics. I had a blast with this and I can’t wait for the next installment.

“All Superheroes Need PR” was a lot of fun to read. It was such a different take on alien romance with a superhero’s and villain take. Roland who is the Pyro/Wyverne is looking to switch sides to the heroes and needs a reputation refresh from a PR firm to do it. Vanessa’s firm wins the bid but when they see each other for the first time they have this instant chemistry that freaks Roland out. He refuses to work with her. Then his organization comes back to her begging for her to come back but only if she will be his ‘Lois Lane’ fake girlfriend. Vanessa can’t figure out the sudden change of heart he has had or his hot and cold demeanour towards her. She also can’t figure out why she is so flustered around him.

The spice was extra spicy in this book and if you like a good girl kind of dominating attitude but only in the bedroom this book is for you. Roland ended up being a big teddy bear for Vanessa but gave serious touch her and die energy. His desire to marry her without even knowing her seemed off to me. I found his hot and cold treatment to be a bit off putting. The storyline was original and fast paced. It had me hooked from the start and the conflict and twist at the end were top notch reading in my opinion. This was a solid read from start to finish for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy

All Superheroes Need PR by Elizabeth Stephens is a first person dual-POV sci-fi romance. Vanessa runs a PR company that is offering services to the Forty-Eight, a group of aliens who fell to Earth twenty-two years ago when they were children. The Forty-Eight have lost all their memories and have slowly started dividing up into heroes and villains. Roland aka Pyro recruits their services but demands the Lois Lane Clause, meaning Vanessa will pretend to be his girlfriend.

I struggled a bit with how to classify this one. On the surface, ‘superhero romance’ as a microgenre makes perfect sense and could slot into fantasy romance, but Roland is stated very clearly to be an alien multiple times, which puts it more in sci-fi romance. Over time, though, he takes on a more monstrous form and there are mentions of tropes from Omegaverse, which is closer to paranormal romance and urban fantasy romance. Essentially, this is a mishmash of the full range of speculative romances which makes it hard to classify firmly, but also makes it a very fun ride. If you love Speculative Romance and you have a hard time picking which subgenre, this should have you covered.

This is a very spicy book with a lot of kink. Roland is a bit more forceful than is typical in a lot of romances but is fairly typical, in my experience, in monster romances or paranormal romances. A decent chunk of the book is the spicy scenes and the rapid escalation into making their physical relationship kinkier and kinkier.

Roland is very possessive of Vanessa very quickly and it somewhat leans into dark romance without going all the way there. Roland does debate kidnapping Vanessa, he tells her he doesn't want to hear her talk about other men again, and he does invade her privacy by looking through some very personal files including ones from her therapy sessions. What stops this from being a dark romance is that Vanessa calls him out on some of it and he does change when she calls him out.

I would recommend this to fans of paranormal and alien romances and readers looking for a spicier read in a contemporary setting with a speculative element

I absolutely adored this book!
I’m gonna age myself here a little butttttt the friendship Group sent me straight back to watching Living Single with my mom as a kid.
The friends are so supportive, but still call each other out on their bullshit.
Our FMC Vanessa had a terrible childhood until she was adopted by an unbelievably sweet and loving family.
She got more brothers than she could bargain for, and a mother and father, who adore her. All of them ready to go to battle, sometimes literally and with lacrosse sticks, to keep her safe.
The MMC Rowland, has had the opposite life, after he crash landed on a planet, not his own and was shuffled off to a foster family. He was never made to feel like he is part of the family, he is exquisitely aware that he is different and nobody has ever treated him normally.
When we meet him, he barely cares about anything, he walks around in workout clothes that have been singed, with unkempt hair and beard. Not caring about anyone’s opinion or lives until he meets Vanessa.
But he mucks that up good and proper!!!! 😂😂😂
His vibe is not just a little deranged, but fully cuckoo.

Luckily, our girl has a strong support system and the strength she gains from them helps her as they develop at first a working relationship then more.

This book is like you took Lights Out and smashed it together with Sky High.
The banter is amazing. The romance is slightly unhinged. But the love is honest and they both change each other for the better.

I’ve already pre-ordered this book and the second I cannot wait to read the next one!!!!
