A Captive Situation is a dark romance with kidnapping, romance, and sass. Jake and Sawyer are the definition of complicated,, but it seems like chaos is right for them.
Sawyer has fled to NYC after a bad breakup and ends up meeting Jake, an ex-cop with mafia ties. What happened to be an odd meeting, turned into a captive situation, like the title suggests. His motives for kidnapping her are secretive but as they spend forced time together, chemistry ignites.
I liked the bag and forth banter as well as the unexpected moments. By the end, I felt like things were falling into place as they should and the spicy scenes were so enjoyable!!

A Captive Situation is the third book in the series, featuring Jake as the male main character (MMC) and Sawyer as the female main character (FMC). Although it can be read as a standalone, the series features interconnected characters, which I really enjoy, especially the witty banter between them throughout the books. Sawyer ends up tangled in the world of the Mafia, and I loved the dynamic of her family in this story. The relationship that develops between her and Jake was great to see, and the twist involving the villain added an unexpected layer to the plot. While there were a few places the story went a bit off for me, overall it was enjoyable

This book was just ok for me. Tijan is definitely a hot or miss author for me. I have no doubt some will absolutely love this book. Thanks for the ARC

This is the 3rd book in the this series and I feel you do not have to read the previous ones to understand what is going on. We meet Sawyer who is trying to find herself after being cheated on by her fiancée of many many years. She goes to New York to find a family member that she has never met. She wants to see the city and do something with her life. After being held at the police station she meets Jake where things take quite a turn and not for the better. What we get is a fast paced mafia story. This was an insta love like no other, but it fit the story line. I didn’t feel it was too rushed. The ending made me want to find out what is going to happen next, which is perfect.

The premise of this novel sounded so good, I was very excited to read it. I just feel it was a little all over the place.
I wanted far more focus on Jake and Sawyer and their dynamic, how they were dealing with things rather than the spicy scenes.
I think if the pacing for the situation was slower this would have been an amazing book, instead I feel it was an ok book.

Not sure how I feel about this book, the first two were great. This one felt like it was all over the place, even with the inner monologues and conversations. I wasn't a fan of it, nor the characters. I wish I could give it more stars because overall, the series is pretty great, but this one was a miss for me. To the author-I'm sorry!

This book moved quite quick and although with some books, you’re sometimes waiting a few chapters to get going this was not the case. That being said, I do love a mafia romance book. The book seemed a bit too far fetched to me. I’d like to read some of the authors other books and I definitely will in the future. 3/5 for me. Thank you for the advanced copy :-)

,, I was taking her whether she wanted to go or not. She was mine. It was that simple. My captive. My cross to bear. My woman. Mine.”
I'm a big fan of this series but I have to admit that the first two parts of this series are much better than this one. I can't say it's bad but something was missing for me, it didn't hold my attention in some chapters and I simply skipped parts. There were also some incredibly unrealistic parts, e.g. female family members acting like badass girls and the women are in their 50s. There were also humorous situations and all in all the book was ok and I spent a few carefree hours with it
I received this book from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for my honest opinion .

the book omg it was amazing
never read a tijan book before
feel so lucky to have been choosen for an arc
cant wait for more people to read it

Jake become the boss after being a detective. Sawyer literally is damsel she wants to connect with her cousin but she seems to cry a lot and cant speak up for herself when she goes to goes to visit him. She is arrestedbut she is not and she meet Jake cousin who was arrested and she need to go to rehab and Sawyer goes for the ride. and Thhen Jake is shoout at and Sawyer was there and to keep her safe he takes her. I felt the books was all over the place with unneccessary drama wish i would of like it atleast and i really love the author so it kinda sucks because i really want to like Jake book

I will read most anything Tijan writes. I have never read a book by Tijan that I didn't enjoy. This book is a mafia, dark romance, kidnapping, on the run, and left at the alter. I enjoyed Sawyer's extended family. Those parts were funny and some touching but not everyone may feel that way. I really enjoyed that Sawyer and Jack weren't "young." They're both getting close to 40 and definitely do not have their lives figured out whatsoever!
Sawyer has fled Montana to NYC. Mostly, Sawyer is running from her miserable life. Sawyer ends up getting picked up by the police. At the police station is where Sawyer formally meets Jack. Jack is an ex cop, and there to pick up his cousin. There this meeting goes south really quickly. Jack is playing both sides. Jack was a cop but his family is mafia. That's what gets Jack and Sawyer in over their heads. Jack underestimated Sawyer. There was an immediate connection between Sawyer and Jack. Jack kept making decisions that irrated Sawyer, understandably so.
What's not love about Sawyer? Sawyer is 36, in the middle of a mid life crisis, her life is falling apart, and she expects everyone on the subway to break out into musicals. Best of all, Sawyer has fight, so her character speaks to my own heart.
Sawyer and Jack both didn't have great lives before finding each other. There were different reasons for their being miserable. Although Jack shows Sawyer the best side of himself mostly, he definitely has a dark side. Jack has to come to terms with that. Then there is Sawyer's big crazy family to deal with, and the mafia. Sawyer has one of the wildest families I've read. I could almost picture the whole family. Especially the aunts in their NYC tourist attire.

Dark Romance, Grumpy X Sunshine, Mafia X Ex Cop, Angst X Spice, Hostage X Kidnap
I received this book as an ARC for free in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 4th book I have read by Tijan. I have been anxiously waiting for the 3rs book of this series to come out. If you love dark romance, alpha, mafia and spice, This book is for you!
Jake is an ex NYC cop that has been appointed to be the head of his mafia family. A life that he never wanted but can’t escape his past. Sawyer runs away to NYC after being dumped by her fiancé who actually left her for her best friend. Jake and Sawyer keep running into each other and end up in a Captive situation after they are both being followed by the mafia. They have an insta- attraction to each other, both of them unhinged and have crazy sexual chemistry. Fun, easy to read story and some funny moments when Sawyers family get together.
Thank you so much to Tijan & NetGalley for the ARC!

Tijan's books have a chokehold on me for no reason. I can never stop reading even if im confused af.
This was fast-paced and addictive. I was excited by the premise of the book, and its execution did not disappoint. The only thing I did not fully love i the immaturity of the fmc :( she was cringe, but i guess to be cringe is to be free
Overall, this was fun and entertaining and I cannot wait to read more books by the author!

🔥 A CAPTIVE SITUATION 🔥
📖 By Tijan
💔 Runaway bride? Not quite. More like a runaway disaster.
I was supposed to be walking down the aisle, marrying my college sweetheart. Instead, my ex-best friend took my place, and I found myself riding the subway a thousand miles away, drowning in heartbreak.
That is, until Jake Worthing crashes into my life.
⚡ Grumpy. Gorgeous. (A total jerk.)
⚡ Brooding. Mysterious. (Still hot as sin.)
⚡ Presumptuous. (Did I look like I needed an ambulance?!)
I never thought I’d see him again—until I end up at a police station (total misunderstanding, I swear). Then bam! Jake walks in, and the universe just keeps playing cruel jokes. Just when I think things can’t get worse, someone tries to shoot him—and suddenly, I’m the witness and the kidnapped hostage.
By Jake. WTF?!
Now, I’m caught in a deadly game, tangled with a man who is hiding secrets darker than his scowl, and I’m falling for him in a way that might destroy me. If I survive this captive situation, I’ll rain down my own destruction—starting with Jake Worthing.

Absolutely amazing read, so captivating each chapter! Loved it from start to finish. Highly recommend reading this fantastic book!!

My first Tainan book and it did not disappoint! I was hooked from the start. Jake and Sawyer were two very interesting characters that fit together well I loved the mafia plot line and Sawyer’s family plot line. Would definitely like to read the other books in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montclair for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I really liked the book. The storyline and the characters. ! Maybe it was a little bit exagerated with the aunts, but it was kind of hilarious also.
I liked that Sawyer is a strong, fierce and sassy character.
Jake is a good MMC, very protective and falls first in love.
The banter and the tension between them is good. They have some spicey scene (not to much).
And also maked ne very curious about his cousin Lane , and Blake.
It is worth reading it. It is not a must, but if you want to better understand the relationship between Jake and his rivals/almost friends, read the first two book in the series.

This was a fast paced high stakes mafia romance. The story follows Sawyer and Jake. Sawyer is on the run after her ex-fiancee cheated on her with her best friend and Jake is an ex-organized crime cop and head of a mafia family in New York. The two met on the subway and then went their separate ways, but a couple hours later they bump into each other again and that’s when a whirlwind of action happens that involves some pretty intense shooting scenes, some dead bodies, and a kidnapping (but it’s okay because it was for her own good). The romance in this book was instant and the spicy scenes were wonderful. I loved Jake and Sawyers relationship and how even though they fell for each other fast, it didn’t feel too forced. This book is great for those who love a good mafia romance book with a hostage situation and the touch her and die vibes. Happy reading!

A Captive Situation
To distract herself from the heartbreak of being dumped by her fiancé who is marrying her ex best friend on what was supposed to be her wedding day Sawyer takes herself off to New York to lose herself in the places she’s always dreamed of visiting.
On the subway a grumpy attractive man asks what wrong with her as she is upset thinking about what has happened, he suddenly pulls out a gun and runs off the train chasing a man. Due to an misunderstanding she is taken to a police station where the man on the subway, Jake Worthing is there and is a cop. All manner of events then take place, Jakes family are mafia and they are out to harm him and now Sawyer.
Unfortunately it took me half way through the book to understand what was happening, the dialogue and actions between characters was difficult to follow and confusing. The story and action romps along, fast paced when Sawyers family suddenly become involved, moments of high drama and episodes of complete farce occur which really didn’t work for me.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly

Wow! This was a really fascinating book! A fast paced mafia romance story between two lonely and heartbroken people. This was the third book in the series that can be read as a stand-alone yet there were spoilers. Jake was the head of his mafia family for unknown reasons to him. His quest was to find out why and get those responsible for trying to kill him. The bad guys were shooting at him and Sawyer was the unfortunate bystander to all the bad shit that was happening. She suffered from a bad break up and needed/ wanted to find her distant cousin in New York. She needed a lot of love and self care. She didn’t warrant that she would be kidnapped by the sexy ex cop. Together they were great. There were many yummy and steamy sex scenes. I was definitely cheering for them to get together as a couple. Sawyer’s family were absolutely adorable! She was very blessed to have such a caring and badass family. The bad guy was a distant cousin that was more meh than anything else. I was a bit sad that the other two main guys from the previous books didn’t do much in this one. I wanted to know more about Blake. She was an enigma to me. Hopefully there would be a book on her! The ending was adorable for a mafia love story. Overall, this was a really great and fun story. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for my review.
