Big thanks to Bookouture for a copy on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The New Marriage is a thrills a minute thriller that will have you guessing until the very end.
I’ve read a few of this author’s books and I have enjoyed them immensely and this one is another one that’s worth a read.
Drew and Mark are happily married after both of them losing partners.
But not everyone is happy with this union.
Mark’s sister Sarah is angry and will make sure Drew never replaces his first wife.
Sarah’s best friend Melody was also Mark’s wife.
Drew finds a winning lottery ticket but for her to cash it in she must become public knowledge and she doesn’t want anyone to know her secret past.
But Mark is also hiding secrets.
What happens next is………… well read the book to find out.
A very entertaining psychological experience.
A domestic suburban drama full of interesting characters, a clever plot and that unexpected ending.
Secrets, lies and family drama are just the beginning….

Felt copy and paste of similar books that have been put out recently. It needed different twists and to be more unguessable.

Secrets secrets secrets!!! Everybody has earth shattering secrets. And they're barely hanging on to keep their lives together without coming apart at the seams. This was a twisty one!
The New Marriage is full of terrible characters, lying and hiding their way through the story. With plot twists at the end of every chapter and drops of foreshadowing thru out I had to read on to see where all this was going!
Drama!
I was going to give this a 3 from a solid 3.5 for being above the average page turner thriller but I just loved the ending! It was spectacular! 4 stars!
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author for the ARC.

The New Marriage by L.G. Davis was a fantastic book with great twists and turns throughout that made it a roller coaster ride from the very beginning and I loved it! I found it hard to put down, a absolute page turner! I did not want it to finish. . . . especially as all the characters were brilliant and they kept you on your toes.

I highly recommend The New Marriage a great holiday read.

A good thriller with lots of twists and turns. Everyone is lying and hiding sinister secrets. Unreliable characters make it more interesting. Multiple viewpoints increase the suspense. Drew, Mark, Sarah, and Jason all have dark regrets. As everything revealed in the end, it was shocking. Fast-paced chapters with a chilling climax. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC

I will read anything Davis writes!
The New Marriage by L.G. Davis grabbed me from the very beginning and didn’t let go until the end.
I loved the tension of this book, and the author captured the creepy feel.
I was hooked from the very beginning and COULD NOT put it down. There was so much to learn as you kept reading to learn more, so many characters had secrets and you don't know who to trust.
The twists, they didn't stop...it was bombshell after bombshell followed by plenty of jaw dropping moments that I wasn't expecting!

This was a pretty good book. It did have slow moments where I drifted off at times but when it comes to twists and turns this has them all! It also has an ending you will not soon forget.
This story seems to start off by the finding of a lottery ticket that is a huge winner. It's found by a woman, recently married, who has a past that she decides is better kept hidden than expose herself by cashing in. She decides this after telling her husband. Anyway, I won't give spoilers here. That just sort of sets off the story.
This is well written. The story flows well and has an interesting cast of characters.
I will definitely read more by this author.

The New Marriage is another superb read by LG David that is filled with suspense and tension. I knew as soon as I finished the prologue I’d be in for a thrilling read and that was most certainly the case. Plenty of twists and turns that had me not wanting to put this book down until the final page. Good well developed characters who I didn’t know which of them if any I could trust. If you want a gripping read that will have you on the edge of your seat this is the book for you.

I think this is my seventh of Davis' books and every one has been as enjoyable as its predecessor.

The New Marriage had me spinning, I wasn't expecting to be taken on such a wild ride! I thought I had it all sussed out, then the twists hit me!

Pace is fast, the plot is thrill a minute and the characters had me compelled to keep reading. Their secrets and lies knew no bounds!

A dark and twisty page turner.

Mark and Drew are newlyweds after recently loosing each one of their spouses.

What I loved most about this read was the format of this book is written in a back and forth perspective between the two main characters, Mark and Drew. I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. What a page-turner! The secrets, the drama, and plot twists kept me engaged. This was not a predictable read either.

Mark and Drew are newlyweds after recently loosing each one of their spouses. While Mark feels they are in the newlywed bliss, there are many dark secrets being hidden by Drew. Can they survive them? You will have to read to find out!

L.G. Davis has quickly became one of my favorite authors and I look forward to more of his books.

If you love family drama, secrets, and twists then this book is for you!
The New Marriage is full of twists and quick chapters that makes it so easy to read just one more chapter (12 chapters later😂). Some twists were predictable but others I totally didn’t see coming (which I LOVE!)

This is my fourth book by Liz and I can’t believe she doesn’t have more recognition in the book community.

It took me awhile to get through the book honestly. It was a little boring at first but then everything connected. I had mixed feelings about Drew. Lori I didn’t really know what to think about considering she was helping. The plot was definitely crazy something I did not expect, even at the end.

A winding road of twists and turns, A New Marriage asks the question - how much do you truly know someone, and how long can a secret truly be a secret?

A New Marriage follows Drew and her husband Mark, having been recently married and adjusting to life after they both lost their first spouses. Drew and Mark do their best to blend their families by having dinner with Mark's over protective sister, Sarah, and Drew's recently sober son, Jason, although the tension is always high. Mark and Drew's own relationship seems strained by money problems, as well as issues from Mark's meddling sister. Things seem to turn around when Drew finds a winning lotto ticket - the winning sum a life changing amount. The only issue? To claim it would mean revealing secrets no one was meant to know.

Every time you think you know where this story is headed, there's a twist or turn you don't see coming. L.G. Davis does a great job of keeping you on your toes while also keeping you glued to the page, waiting to see what happens next.

I especially loved the twist I the epilogue - I immediately went to re-read part of the book because of it. Very well done!!

Just when I thought there wouldn’t be any more twists… boy was I wrong! This book started out with a solid plot and I was under the assumption that the rest of the story would be more of the same. Nope!

I was cheering Drew on from the start, but I could sense there was more to her story. I tried to be wary of every character I met along the way, but I wasn’t prepared for the truth.

There is not much more I can say without giving things away. Just know that the characters are well-rounded, the storyline is executed well, and there was never a moment that felt like it wasn’t believable. Trust me, you won’t be bored, and whatever you think the answer is? You’ll most likely be wrong. 😂

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

The New Marriage
by L.G. Davis
Pub Date: Apr 29 2025

First I want to thank author L. G. Davis for writing such a fantastic book filled with tension, secrets, great characters and a fast-paced, page-turning thriller! At only 272 pages this utterly unputdownable psychological thriller will keep you hooked until the final page!

Synopsis: They seem so happy. It’s all a lie… My hands shake as I hand Mark his coffee, his rich caramel eyes heavy after another sleepless night. I know he’s hiding something, and it’s bad.

I take the steaming mug from Drew, remembering the first time I saw her by the hospital coffee machine. She was grieving too and now we have a second chance at happiness. But now I know what she’s been hiding in that box of old photographs, where she thought I’d never look. My wife has been lying about who she is.

Many thanks to #TheNewMarriage #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing me an E-ARC of this 5 STAR psychological thriller!

Drew meets Mark who has suffered a recent loss and ends up married to Mark as his second wife. When she finds a winning lottery ticket she struggles to know what the right thing to do is as it’s stolen and others will find out her secrets. Only it turns out that they both have secrets.

This was a fun premise and sounded like it would be a twisty ride. I enjoyed the dilemma that the protagonist faced and it left you thinking about things. Even though I enjoyed the concept, I found the story quite choppy, jumping from one timeline to another and it took a while to get going. This was an interesting story overall, just lacking in pace at times. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

4,5 stars rounded up

My hands shake as I hand Mark back his coffee, his rich caramel eyes heavy after another sleepless night. I know he's hiding something, and it's bad. But then again, so am i, Under our bed there's an envelope containing a secret that would turn our world upside down, and that's just the start. Mark doesn't even know my real name.

Mark: I take the steaming mug from Drew, remembering the first time that I saw her by the hospital coffee machine. She was grieving too, and now we have a second chance at happiness. But i know what she's been hiding in that box of photographs, where she thought i'd never look. My wife has been lying to me about who she is.

The pace is slow to begin with. I can't say too much about this book for fear that i might give something away/ I was totally gripped in this twisted read from beginning to end. The characters are well-developed, I was on the edge of my seat trying to second guess everything. I was rooting for Drew, even though she had dark secrets.

Let me tell you, this book is like a rich cup of coffee – a little bitter, a lot addictive, and with a kick that’ll keep you wide-eyed and awake at 2 a.m. The story is an absolute wild ride between Mark and Drew, a couple with more secrets than a gossiping high schooler. Let’s just say, trust is about as fragile as a cheap wine glass here.

Drew, the wife, is already giving me heart palpitations. I mean, the woman is hiding an envelope under her bed that could blow up her whole world, and on top of that, her real name isn’t even what her husband thinks it is. Imagine the tension, like the air right before a storm. And speaking of storms, Mark? Well, he’s hiding his own skeletons, but they’re a lot more dangerous. Their twisted dance of lies is like watching a fire burn out of control, but you can’t look away.

The writing? L.G. Davis has a knack for making you feel everything. The tension? You could cut it with a knife. The secrets? They practically scream at you from the page, begging to be uncovered. The sensory details are spot on—whether it’s the smell of Drew’s freshly brewed coffee or the weight of the lies between these two, Davis pulls you in, gets you comfy, and then bam! It’s like a plot twist to the face.

Character development? Oh, honey. These characters are complex—torn between love and betrayal, secrets and truth. They’re flawed, they’re messy, and they will have you questioning every “good guy/bad guy” assumption you’ve ever had. You think you know what’s coming? Think again.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, page-turning thriller that’ll have you gasping in shock, The New Marriage is a must. Just be warned, your jaw might need some time to get back in place after the twists. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5/5
