A perfect summer read. A really enjoyable easy reading book full of charm and lovely characters that make you want to keep reading. Tammy loves her life in Cornwall where she works part time but also loves nothing more than trying to make her name as a sand artist creating works of art and trying not to get hurt again after a family tragedy years before have made her very weary of finding happiness again but when a handsome stranger Ruan turns up there is an immediate attraction but when Tammy uncovers the real reason he is there she immediately becomes suspicious of him will she ever learn to trust anyone again and will she find the happiness she deserves. A5 🌟read

What an absolute delight to return to Cornwall in the capable hands of Phillipa, another wonderful story full of emotions on every page with a beautiful ending

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, set in a Cornish town, making you feel as though you’re there with the characters.
The characters were relatable and it had many twists and turns to keep you turning the pages to read what happens next.
It was beautifully written, and covered some sensitive subjects.
I highly recommend this book.

A beautiful, emotional story told by Phillipa Ashley.
The story centres around two characters; Tammy, who has lived in Porthmellow all her life. She's a sand artist and also helps at a local gallery. Having lost her father, she is a bit untethered and quite reluctant to forge relationships with people other than her most trusted friends.
The second is Ruan. He's a solicitor, recently moved to the area, but with connections to the village and surrounding area that become more and more apparent as the story goes on.
You feel the connection between the two characters from the beginning, and feel the effects of past secrets coming out on that fragile start of something that could be so special.
I loved the story, and the cast of side characters brought extra depth to the story, especially Davey and Polly.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for an ARC

Tammy is a born and bred Cornish woman in her early thirties who is trying to make a living from her love of creating sand art. While her childhood was happy, it was blown apart when her parents split. She chose to stay with her Dad in Cornwall but when he passed away in tragic circumstances, she was left heartbroken. She slowly builds a life for herself with the help of friends but she still distances herself and finds it difficult to trust others. Ruan has just moved to the area from Bristol. A lawyer by trade but with a love for Cornwall and the coast, he has moved to the area partly for a better work life balance but partly because he inherits a run down house from a distant relative he only met once and he’s keen to work out the mystery of why this person chose him. A chance encounter between Tammy and Ruan sparks an instant attraction on both sides but will their past histories stop them from getting to know each other better or will they be just what each other needs?
As people who have read Philippa Ashley’s previous books will expect, this is an easy to read, cosy, emotional and ultimately heartwarming story. Cornwall is depicted magnificently and this book has made me desperate to visit again! I found parts frustrating related to some of the character’s behaviours (to say more would be a spoiler) but I also found parts of it refreshing for this type of story. I could see where the plot was going in many ways but even though I guessed right, there were still surprises because that part was dealt with much earlier in the book that I was expecting.
This is a perfect summer holiday read and one I would recommend to others. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

This was a lovely summer read, the characters are well written and had depth, there wasn’t loads of characters so easy to keep up with the story lines, grab your sun lounger and enjoy

I do enjoy Phillipa’s Cornish books, and this one was particularly special. Tammy and her father were enjoying life, but it wasn’t the life they had dreamed of. Their hopes and dreams were lost when their home was seized by the bank after her mother left them. Now, it's five years since he died and Tammy is still feeling the pain of her loss. Having missed her chance with art school, Tammy now creates sand art and accepts commissions.
I particularly liked Tammy and felt a genuine flood of friendship when reading her story. Tammy had been beaten down by life but still came back fighting every day. I was intrigued by the concept of her artwork, but I will avoid the danger of spoilers, so you will need to read it for yourself to get a better understanding of what she does and the poignancy that is attached to the concept. The most distinct element of her nature was her dogged determination to protect her independence. We get a brief insight into her pain when we learn about her living arrangements. The phrase ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ was repeating on a loop as I read.
After years of disappointments, Tammy has closed her heart to romance, so is somewhat taken aback when she finds herself drawn to a stranger on the beach. Ruan is in town for a new job, but we soon discover that he has a secret that would potentially devastate her. Of course, Phillipa Ashley writes with real skill as she lets the story develop organically, and it doesn’t take long before there are signs of a deeper connection forming between them.
For me, as much as I loved the romance, I was totally invested in the artwork and the descriptions of the installations created by Tammy. As a coastal girl, I can appreciate the joy of a fresh beach and the concept of it being a blank canvas.
There are familiar characters in the story arc, but the focus was definitely on Tammy and Ruan, and I loved everything about this gorgeous book.

A lighthearted story set in Cornwall. Boy meets girl, girl falls out with boy after finding out he owns her childhood home. Girl eventually gets over herself and gets back with boy. Happy ever after.

Tammy is a sand artist in Cornwall. Her mother left the family for Scotland years ago and her father has recently died. Then she meets Ruan - a solicitor with a secret. A secret that threatens to blow apart his relationship with Tammy.
As Tammy starts to find the answers will she find love?

Tammy still lives in Porthmellow in Cornwall, where she grew up. She is a sand artist and loves what she does, especially being in the outdoors.
Tammy didn’t have the best childhood, her mum moved to Scotland with her boyfriend, and Tammy refused to go with her. When Tammy’s dad died, his friend, Davey took over from him and is always there for Tammy.
There is an instant attraction between Tammy and Ruan, this is very much a ‘will they, won’t they?’ story.
This was a lovely romance story and I was hooked from the very start.
The characters were interesting and relatable. I was fascinated by how popular sand art is.
My heart went out to both Tammy and Ruan, I couldn’t help but be rooting for them throughout.
I found this to be a well-written story with great characters.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I shall definitely read more.
My thanks to Random House UK and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I love Phillipa Ashley, and will always pick up anything she writes. This was another gorgeous love story, set in the idlic location of Cornwall. Between local Tammy who is a sand artist on the Cornish beaches and Ruan a solicitor looking for escape from the rat race. Great chemistry between them and a fabulous story. Recommend

Thank you, NetGalley and Phillipa Ashley, for the opportunity to read this book. It is a perfect Summer escape. Two people meet, and you know that they will have a friendship that progresses to a relationship. Their journey is told in a non-schmaltzy way that is engaging, and you really do want everything to work out for them.
The gallery owner and stable owners should have their own spin-off, as they captivate too..
A wonderful story that you'd be happy to discover, and once again, this author delivers.

If I see a Phillipa Ashley book then it is one that I will pick up to read. Her books are easy to read with a feelgood vibe. This is the perfect beach book with wonderful descriptions of Cornwall and its beautiful beaches. You can just imagine the 'sand art' sculptures made by Tammy the heroine of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the advance copy of this book.

Tammy lives in the small Cornish harbour town of Porthmellow, where she works part time in a local gallery but also creates her own beautiful sand sculptures. Ruan is a busy sort after solicitor who moves to Cornwall for a fresh start after inheriting a house. Just as Tammy begins to trust Ruan and everything feels like it’s falling into place, her past comes back to haunt her as Ruan’s secrets are unveiled.
One Cornish Summer with You was a beautifully written and easy summer romance to get stuck into. Having studied in Cornwall, I loved reliving some of my favourite Cornish memories through this book and loved Tammy’s creative flare. A recommended read for anyone looking for a summer romance and has experienced the Cornish coast.

Phillip Ashley is a fantastic author, and this novel doesn’t disappoint. She often writes about Cornwall, and I always want to visit after reading one of her books.
Tammy is an artist, and her medium of choice is sand art on the Cornish beaches. When she meets Ruen on the beach, she is initially very wary. Her mum left when she was young, and her father drank and gambolled, and then died – so her experience is that everyone she cares about leaves. Just as she is starting to trust him, she finds out a secret about him that may just destroy their relationship forever.
A lovely story, evocative of the region, and you will be rooting for Tammy and Ruen and the power of love.

The harbour town of Porthmellow was an idyllic place where Tammy grew up. Then it wasn’t because her father went bankrupt so her mother left leaving them bereft. Now she spends her time on the Cornish sand ,creating art in sand such is the demand . Her father is long gone ,passed away . Just when things start to look up when she met Ruan a solicitor who moved to Cornwall for a fresh start. Things from the past he does impart and this almost breaks her heart and his . An inheritance of his ties to her own family life . The life when she was small and nothing could go wrong …Boy was she wrong about that . And these revelations just made her deflate a little. Can they ever go back to growing into more than friends . He has his reasons and you can feel his pain and why he didn’t come clean sooner about his abode that isn’t the caravan he’s presently in ,but a house that’s done in and in need of repair..She’s overawed and not feeling good but do they come good? Well wait at see. This book is very well written and the scenes immersive, the speech never cursive. A splendid storyline, absolutely divine.

This is a standalone story, and what a lovely summery read it is! We head off to Cornwall and meet Tammy and Ruan in the little village of Porthmellow. Tammy has lived here all her life and creates sand designs on the beach. Ruan is a solicitor and has recently moved there after inheriting a ramshackle house. I like Ruan's character more than Tammy's initially and found she kept Ruan at arm's length for longer than he deserved. However, as the storyline moved on I warmed to Tammy more and I liked watching their friendship develop.
The storyline was a warm, easy read, with a few ups, downs and misunderstandings as we moved through Tammy and Ruan's individual stories. I found myself engrossed into the story quite early on in the book and enjoyed following it through to the end. The location was absolutely stunning and as I read I could picture the village, beach and sea. I've read many books by this author, and she always gets the location spot on and makes you feel like you're right there amongst the characters! This is the perfect summer read with lots of love and friendship throughout the pages. Would recommend.

What a lovely summer read. The beach scenes and the wonderful descriptions of Cornwall really put me in a summery mood.
Tammy is a relatable character, her insecurities are real and I could totally understand her reluctance to actually let herself be fully open with any one incase she got hurt again. I enjoyed watching her grow. After meeting Ruan you can see the inner turmoil as she wrestled with her feelings. Ruan was kind and patient with her, even when it was obvious it was hurting him.
I enjoyed the mystery of great uncle Walter and how Ruan sought to find out more about him and the house he inherited. The twists and turns really kept me engaged and I liked how they too interlinked with Tammy and her feelings.
Learning about sand art was great, I really hope I get to see some and will enjoy visiting beaches in the summer for research 🤣. If you are wanting a delicious feel good beach read, then this is for you.

This is a perfect summer read, the Cornish setting is described beautifully and really brings the book to life. The main characters were well written and the plot has enough little twists that it keeps you interested. The ending is very satisfying!
Thank you for this arc

do you really need a review. its Phillipa Ashley. so no, you dont need a review. you see her name you know its brilliant. you see her name you know you want to read it you see her name and a little voice inside you goes whipeeeee. and so read this. because she is, she does, you will.
but to not seem like too much of a totally sappy fanbookauthorgirl. i will tell you this book follows some lovely scenery, some lovely scenes and a lovely story. no its not all mush, and there is definite those tell tale signs of Phillipa doing her thing and given a shove of emotions.
and that is exactly what Tammy story gives us. she lives in Porthmellow(can i come live there too please. nowish?) she creates sculptures on the beach. but she keeps herself in tight. she cant allow someone or anything to break her or her heart again. not after her past. and its all fine. alllll good. oh yes it was until the guy in the suit ( the suit i tell you, on the beach!?). and hes starts her own cleverly built sculptured walls to tumble or threaten to do so. and threaten to do so in nice ways. but there is more here than she thought was going on. and she still feels that fear and still needs to protect herself. she knows she must keep him at a distance.
but this bloke is a good guy. and hes too wants to protect Tammy.
another belter of a book. with two characters i wanted to be together from the start. and it was easy on my emotions i tell you that now. but well worth it as always. always well worth it.
thank you Phillipa for coming into the book world and giving us your talent. you bring joy to so many and i hope you know this, i hope you know it with your own pride and heart.
