Tammy loved Porthmellew but had to move away when her dad had to sell their house and her mother left. She's come back and is doing sand art for a living. She bumps into Ruan who she thinks is going to change her mind about dating again but he's got a secret

Ruan is taking a break sat on the beach wall watching a sand artist while he waits to go to his next appointment.
Tammy the sand artist spots him watching her as he is not really dressed for a summers day in his suit.
After they meet and an encounter with an ice cream stealing seagull causing ruan to wear most of his she offers to lend him shirt.

Theres an instant connection with the pair but Tammy has trust issues.

Ruan has recentley moved to cornwall from bristol after inheriting a derelict property from an uncle he only met once and is living in a caravan.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin for the advanced copy of this book. I’ve read quite a few of Phillipa’s books now and the Cornish set books are only second to my favourite Christmas set books. The actual narrative is just pure escapism but for me it’s the settings that hook me in, the writing really evokes my own imagery of Cornwall and I can just imagine standing looking out to St Michael’s Mount or being sat in the Logan Inn. This would make a great Summer read.

A lovely Cornish summer tale set in the village of Porthmellow. Tammy has trust issues having been abandoned by her mother and by the sudden death of her father. She works as a sand artist and meets Ruan while producing a piece in memory of her father who died 5 years before.

Ruan has moved to Cornwall for a fresh start after reevaluating his life. He had inherited a ruin from a distant relative and wanted to find out more about him and the reasons for the legacy.

As they begin to find out more about each other his research will bring out secrets from her family’s past and leave Tammy to decide whether or not she can trust again and commit herself to a relationship.

A gentle warm tale - a summer romance with delightful characters.

Phillipa Ashley does it again. A fun read on a cold, grey, miserable day. The story started slowly and what seemed like a red herring early on made me think that this was going to be a rather obvious plot of traditional boy meets girl, and after some soul searching, everyone lives happily ever after. Not a bit of it. The unforeseen complications just kept on coming in this well-plotted story with a terrific will they won't they ending. It was lovely to be reminded of the warmth of summer and the sights and sounds of wonderful Cornish beaches. You can almost feel the sun on your skin and the sand between your toes. Of the leading British romantic novelists, Phillipa Ashley is becoming my favourite.

An excellent light read. A perfect book to lose yourself in. Set in the south of England, Tammy and Ruan encounter each other. But he has a secret and she is emotionally fragile.

Another fantastic novel from Philippa Ashley. I was so excited to get this arc as I love her books. The setting is beautiful Cornwall and our heroine is sand artist Tammy. After a difficult life she wants no commitment and no permanent romance but along comes solicitor, Ryan and everything changes. I loved these two and , although there were obstacles in their path, it was easy to see them as meant to be. Dave’y was also a great character.. there was fun, romance but also mystery and heartbreak along the way. I absolutely loved it

Phillipa Ashley is known for writing cosy feelgood books and this was no exception. Set in Cornwall it features heartbreak and romance as expected.

Overall an enjoyable read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC

A new phillipa Ashley book is always something to look forward to. You know you will get a lovely cozy story with a wonderful ending that leaves you feeling all is good with the world. This one is no different, the characters are lovely, an unusual occupation for our heroine which isn’t something I’ve ever thought about before, based in Cornwall. You can feel the sea air, hear the waves on the beach and almost smell the seaweed and sunscreen. Just perfect!

Thank you to Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for this ARC.

Tammy is a sand artist in the Cornish town of Porthmellow. She takes commissions for beach creations, works part-time in an art gallery for her boss and father figure Davey and has just been accepted for three sand creations at the annual OceanFest.

Ruan is a lawyer who has just moved to Porthmellow due to an inheritance from an estranged great-uncle. He falls for Tammy fast, but Tammy has committment issues due to her mother leaving the family and then a few years ago her father dying unexpectedly under mysterious circumstances after losing their house.

As if that wasn't enough, Ruan's inheritance creates problems because it has an unexpected connection to Tammy's family, and Tammy's ex Sean is intent on causing trouble. Will they be able to overcome their hangups?

This is a solid summer romance by the reliable Philippa Ashley. The characters are likeable but to be honest, I expected more from this, as this was just too predictable. The ending felt abrupt, and the rest was stuffed into an epilogue. I liked the Cornish setting though, and the romance between Davey and Breda. I loved "Second Chance Summer" and will always read everything Phillipa Ashley writes but I think this isn't her best effort.

Every Phillipa Ashley book I've ever read has been a delight- and this was no exception.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Phillip Ashley always manages to make you feel like it's summer and you're actually in Cornwall. Some books you enter tentatively but Ashleys books mean one chapter in and you're fully immersed. You might think you know what's going to happen but she always branches off into new areas of human interest. A real feel good story yet again although I did find the ending a bit rushed.

I always look forward to a new Phillipa Ashley and this one did not disappoint. Following Tammy’s struggle with life after the death of her father, meeting a new man, trying to make her sand art a profitable business plus a few twists and turns along the way make a good storyline. Ashley fans will not be disappointed!

Tammy has known a lot of loss in life and is reluctant to let anyone else in her life to leave, while Ruan is struggling to come to terms with an unexpected inheritance. story unfolds pleasurably over the course of a delightful Cornish summer.

This has everything you might want in a light hearted summer read; romance, intrigue, sea, sun and sand. The characters are believable and likeable, I enjoyed learning about their shared family history and the backdrop of sand art was a nice twist. I enjoyed the novel and thoroughly recommend it.

I’ve loved all of Phillipa Ashley’s books that I’ve read, especially the ones set in Cornwall, and this is another cracker. I read it in one sitting on a dreary wet evening, where you just want a good comfort read. I loved the main characters and the fact that theirs weren’t the only stories being told. Although you know it’s going to have a happy ending - no spoilers- there was a really interesting back story and featuring a sand sculptor making for a slightly unusual character but a fascinating subject. Highly recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

An enjoyable that is full of romance. The author creates such believable characters that you are drawn into their stories and want to find out what happens to them. The vivid descriptions of glorious Cornish beaches frequented by the main character sand artist provide a beautiful backdrop to the story.

This was an ideal read for transporting me to Cornwall’s sunny beaches on a dull Winter’s day! A love story with a twist involving an old house I enjoyed reading about the two main characters ,Tammy and Ruan , but also the others too. Having visited some of the places in the story I could imagine the beaches as I read. A gentle read very well written again by Philippa. Thank you for the chance to review. I look forward to the next one.
