An adorable little story about kiddos taking over a firetruck and fire station. It is a fun little way to show what firefighters do and their equiptment. Wonderful illustrations.

Now this book was cute. It's all about kids using their imaginations. It's a great book for younger children. I think the illustrations will also really connect with younger readers and hold their attention. This would especially be perfect for children that want to be firefighters when they grow up. Thank you to MamaBear Books, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles, and NetGalley for the ARC!

What a fun children's book! The story and pictures were SO fun! My firefighter loving son was obsessed with this story and was begging to read it again. The way it was written and illustrated kept my child engaged. Easy 5 star read for this family!

Thank you MamaBear Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A beautiful book that my 4 y.o and I enjoyed a lot reading.

The illustrations are detailed and they felt so explicative that my son even tried to "read" the story to me. I loved that the group of little firefighters is very inclusive.

Our favorite part? Saving the ice cream shop.

Hopefully there will be a sequel as my son is already pestering me for an astronaut adventure since he noticed the skyrocket at the end

This would be a really good book for kiddos who really, really love firetrucks/firefighters, or kiddos who get REALLY into their imaginative play. The storytelling and art style weren't for me, personally, and from a library stand-point, it wouldn't go over great for story time. There definitely is a niche for this book, it just unfortunately doesn't extend far beyond that niche. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read

The Day I Had a Fire Truck, a fun story about Luke and his friends who have great adventure in a fire truck. Full of easy to read text, bright pictures and a great story. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A creative way to tell children about firefighting and teaching the importance of helping, and caring for others. When the fire fighters need time off for other things they ask Luke to take care of the fire station. Lake and his crew of friends take their job seriously and set out to help others in their community.
This is a great story showing us the power of imagination, friendship and working together. Brightly illustrated to grab your child's attention and show us the adventures of the friends.
Great for any firefighter fan and to share with friends. Great in the classroom when talking about fire safety and about helping in the community.
Enjoy with your family.

I like the idea of this book, but I feel it’s too wordy. It’s also long. It lost my attention way before the end. I finished it but not because I wanted to and I have a feeling kids would feel the same way.

When the firefighters in the neighborhood take the day off to check out the new waterpark, they leave Luke a note asking if he can take over the department for the day. Luke gathers his friends and they keep the neighborhood safe. During their calls, they discover that teamwork is what makes things successful. they also learn to try again if things don't go well the first time. The illustrations are cute and I appreciate the diversity in the characters. Thank you to Netgalley and Mamabear books for this cute story.

Super cute! What a fun way to show what firemen can do and explain different parts of their trucks in a kid-friendly, easy to understand way.

The third book in a series about Luke and his group of kind-hearted friends who go on amazing 'real life' adventures (following on from The Day I Had a Bulldozer and The Day I Had a Dinosaur), this is a joy-filled tale celebrating kids' imagination and friendship.

Luke and his pals have an adventurous day out when he's asked by the local Fire Chief to step in for the team for the day. The story, told in simple prose rather than rhyme, is rather straightforward and more unfolds as a linear report of a really fun day out - real or imagined? - rather than having any great twists, tension, or challenge for the kids to overcome.

Vaughan Duck's illustrations really elevate the story, however, bringing Luke's tale to far greater life, adding plenty of zest and zaniness to the adventures of Luke and his friends. A good picture book that's likely to delight younger readers.

3.5 stars (the illustrations bumping it up)

Overall its an inoffensive cute story about a kid having a fire truck for the day. I'm not sure what age its aimed at though? My 2.5 year old didn't have the patience for it yet it felt far too young for my elder son.

Thank you to Netgalley and MamabearBooks for the opportunity to read and review this book for my students. This is an adorable picture book that talks about being a pretend firefighter. I love these books for my students with their art and adventures. Because of these points, I have to give this 4 out of 5 stars

This is a super cute story!! I really like the illustrations in this book. They were bright and contemporary while not completely overwhelming, it helps focus on the important part of the picture on each page.
It did feel a bit longer than it needed to be but overall it was a cute story of Luke and the day he had af fire truck.

My kiddo is very into fire trucks right now, so this was a fun read for our family. The illustrations are adorable and the story was delightful.

Total imagination-fueled joy—this is the kind of book you’d want to hand to the tiny adventurer who turns couch cushions into rescue missions. Pure, bright childhood energy bottled into a single wild day. And the artwork is wonderful!

Very lighthearted and fun, a story about children with fire trucks. A group of friends become heroes for a day and have one heck of an adventure! On the beginning of their hero journey they actually rescue a kitten followed by several adventure helping/ rescuing people all over the city. The cutest read ever and I will be sure to pick it up as a gift when it finally releases!

Overall, The Day I Had a Fire Truck was a cute story, but would definitely recommend for very young audiences. My 4 year old son thought it was cute and funny, but even at his age, I felt like the story did not have enough substance for him. Firefighters do so much more than rescue a cat from a tree or put out a tiny fire; I think it was a lost opportunity to really hone in on the importance of these everyday heroes and explain their role in the community.
