I really enjoyed this book. I found out at the age of 60 that my dad was not who I thought he was. All characters in my story are now deceased so I will never have answers. That is why I really connected with Rose’s story and understand her desparation to find the truth. The writing was very good and kept me engaged throughout.
Many thanks to Beulah Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I received a copy of Ignoring Gravity in exchnage for a fair and honest review.

Six months later and Rose Haldane is still figuring out how to deal with the death of her mother. As she begins to go through her mom’s closet, she makes a shocking discovery – she was adopted as a baby. Rose has always felt a bit different from her family, especially her sister Lilly, but she never saw this coming. Rose’s goal to discover her birth parents begins to consume her life. She is obsessed with finding out every detail of her adoption and birth parents. When she finally discovers who her birth mother is, the questions become even more plentiful. As you gain more clues into Rose’s past, you learn more about her entire family, especially her sister who is struggling with infertility. Along the way, she finds romance and learns a great deal about herself.

I had a hard time connecting with this book – mainly because of the main character Rose. I did not agree with many of the decisions that she made throughout the book. She begins to almost resent her adoptive family because they were not her own. Her romance was extremely rushed to me and therefore felt fake. The first half was hard for me to get through – I thought the book was moving too slowly. However, the second half of the book was much better. I really got into the mystery aspect of Rose’s adoption, and the author kept me reading to put all of the pieces of her life together. I love that the author gave answers to all of Rose’s questions. To me, the book ending was odd. There was one event that happened near the end that was not settled, leading me to think there will be a sequel.

If you enjoy reading stories about infertility or adoption, this may be the book for you. Although some parts of the book did appeal to me, I unfortunately would not recommend this to a friend.

I am giving this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Was interested when I asked for this but not anymore. Adoption premise sounds too overused now.

I promised myself that for every book that is recent I would then read a book from my TBR pile from the year before, and this is one of them.

It was a quick and easy read because of it being so engrossing, I was reading this while waiting at the doctors, waiting for supper to cook and any little time in between, its surprising how far you can get in one book.

Imagine reaching 30 years old and 6 months after your mother died you learn that you had been adopted. What a shock.

How can she ask her father all the questions that are buzzing around her head?

She has a sister Lily who is struggling to become pregnant and although they try to support each other each are emotional wrapped up within their own problems.

She searches for her #real# family, however, she has rose tinted coloured glasses on and believes everything will work out fine justifying herself along the way.

I found this a great family saga type read with lots of emotion.

My thanks to Beulah Press via Net Galley for my copy
