I don't tend to read Horror novels as I tend to prefer more thrillers as Horrors tend to have often a supernatural/paranormal feel to them and I prefer more realism in my books. I have had this one for a while and decided to have it on Sunday, a relaxing reading day out in the sun - get some Vitamin D while I can before our cold weather hits as we are currently in autumn and heading slowly towards Winter. Frozen Charlotte starts in the olden days when the school sounded a bit like an orphanage and the girls are playing with some creepy-ass dolls called Frozen Charlottes. We later learn that these dolls are possessed and cause the owners to do some nasty things. The book starts eerily with Sophie and her best friend Jay who has downloaded an Ouija board app on his phone as of course we live in the world of modern technology where everything is an app now - no need for the real thing. It can't hurt -Jay said as apps and Ouija boards aren't real. The pair try to communicate with the first name that popped into their heads which was Sophie's cousin Rebecca who died years ago as a child. That night, Jay dies and Sophie is convinced it has something to do with her cousin. She decides now is the perfect time to go and stay with them and do some digging of her own but when she arrives on the Isle of Skye - she is in for a surprise as her cousins are hiding dark secrets of their own as strange things are happening around their house which was the former schoolhouse. Will Sophie survive the summer or will she find herself falling victim to the "dolls"? Can Sophie break the curse of the "Frozen Charlottes" before they claim more bodies? Find out in this horror / supernatural read - Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell.
