This is a very cute and cozy read with hidden depths!
I loved how Wren and August were both real, flawed adults who fell in love and were trying to be better to each other. I really appreciated the representation of Wren’s mental health and how she gets overwhelmed. I also liked how the book showed August and what he feels and deals with in a small town as someone with autism.
The found family trope was also so cute, that’s always a favorite of mine.
I’m not sure if the author has sequels planned but I loved the side characters and am definitely intrigued by the potential and hinted at romances. Thanks so much for the arc!

Sadly this just didn't work for me. I appreciated the autism rep and that we had bipoc/neurodivergent leads. But the romance didn't move me. I found Wren very annoying and not really understanding. She did admit when she was wrong though. I just found it weird that, for example, Gus's brother explains to her 'because of his autism sometimes things gus says can come across as rude and abrupt, but he doesn't always mean it that way so please be understanding and patient with him'. then in the next scene she's accusing him of constantly being rude to her?
And that was the whole relationship. Yes, sometimes Gus was being intentionally rude. Sometimes he wasn't. But that was it. There was some bits where they tried to say the arguing was basically both of them 'unmasking' from social expectations, but it actually just came across like they didn't really like each other. I just found it weird how Wren forced her way into their lives. Also she was unprofessional. I felt this for example in the scene where she's picking colours for the barn, august tells her he wants to keep it the same colours, and she blows up at him for being stubborn. he literally has to explain to her 'i am the owner of this business, and this is a choice i'm making as the owner and you need to respect that as a professional;. like she was just very strange in her reactions to him. also at sixty percent through i started to struggle as this party hadn't even gotten going yet. like they were still talking about the barn and doing the harvest and that's it. it was just so slow.
there were also silly mistakes like gus wearing his glasses then taking them out his pocket and putting them on in the same scene. also clunky things like wren going to the coffee shop and saying '[the new barista' was slower but still made the coffees faster than i could' well yes...because you're not a trained barista?????? what was the point of this line??

Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review. It was great to read a book with an autistic character as a main read. Gus was charming, complicated, sexy, misread and alive. He read as yungblud in my mind. He was a pumpkin farmer trying to keep his families farm afloat. He has two brothers and a waster of a father who ups and leaves and steals all of the farm saving pot to live with a woman he barely knows. His brothers support and show up. Wren is a party planner who lives in a nearby town looking for a potential venue for her best friends 30th party.
She falls in love with the farm and sees the potential. Her and Gus clash instantly but they agree to work together along with her best friend and brother to het the farm fixed up. Gus has a really tough time as people are ignorant around autism and think he is rude. This was a great book. I cant wait to see if there is a sequel.
