this book is a chilling, fast-paced thriller that follows Special Agent Emily Ray as she hunts down a child abductor—and confronts the terrifying echoes of her own abduction twenty-eight years ago. As Emily uncovers disturbing clues from her past, she realizes that the kidnapper may still be alive and targeting the next victim. A gripping, page-turning mystery that delves deep into the trauma of the past and the high-stakes urgency of saving a child before it’s too late.

This book left me speechless and screaming from the very first sentence. It was so interesting that I found myself desperate to get to the bottom of everything. In so mad that I took so long to get to this book however I am very glad I that I get to have the pleasure of saying that I have read it now. The book starts off with our main character Emily falling right into her work of finding a missing child. Emily is one of the greats as she does everything in her power to bring these kids back, and she should because when she was younger she was one of those kids. It isn't until her later case however l that things take a turn for the worse. Determined to bring her latest child home she finds herself standing in front of a house, however this isn't just any house as it becomes crystal clear that this is the house where Emily was one held all those years ago. With the similarities between her case and the latest missing child Emily isn't so sure that her captor is dead like she previously believed. With that new though and a brand new sense of panic and urgency Emily must race the clock and dig up her past if she is to face the man who once tried to destroy her. I loved this story because you really saw our characters strength and determination shine through in this story. While I have read a few kidnapping type books I haven't read many where it is about a victim confronting a past and I thought that was a very refreshing turn of events for a story but is also made for a very fascinating page turner. I loved rooting for our main character but I was also very scared for her at the same time. Like the blurb said get read to grab a flashlight for this one because it is almost impossible to put down. You were constantly left wondering what was going to happen next and there was so much going on that I had to get to the bottom of things. I loved every minute of this book because it was a nice change of pace to see the person behind the rescue struggling with their own fear all linking back to the same person who caused both problems. Great read and even if you aren't a big fan of detective or police type book I highly suggest that you check this one out because the plot and mystery alone really shine and come to the forefront rather than the detective plot although it is still there in its undercurrents. I liked how we views our main character struggling with her past trauma while trying her best to keep everything in check.

My Name is Emily Ray is a super enjoyable thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat numerous times. The pace is quick with no unnecessary waffle. The characters are easily believable especially if you watch American TV or films although I do wonder how much Emily would have been allowed to get away with in real life! Her character is amazing. So much angst and so many more secrets to be explored in other books! Hopefully this means we'll see a lot more of Emily Ray in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Great plot twist!! Great character development and kept me hooked. Ending felt a smidge rushed but besides that highly enjoyed!! Would recommend!!
Thank you netgalley for this arc, highly enjoyed!!

Fantastically entertaining first book of a hopefully long Emily Ray series.
Emily Ray is the lead FBI agent with CARD (child abduction rapid deployment). Happily married with two young daughters, she has a happy home life and is dedicated to her job.
However Emily lived the nightmare she often has to solve, having being kidnapped as a child and held for 8 years before she escaped.
Still traumatised from the events decades later and still seeing the same psychologist from her childhood , the cases can take a lot out of her and none more so than the one she’s about to face.
When a child is abducted in broad daylight and vanishes without a trace with no clues or evidence left behind, the similarities to her own abduction soon become apparent and when she starts receiving mail from the abductor containing items that relate to her past, things only her abductor would know, the trauma starts to creep up on her again. Her kidnapper is long dead, killing himself a couple of decades ago, yet who else could know of these items from her captivity and can she save the young girl that has vanished without trace?
This was a blast to read. At a little under 300 pages I applaud the author for keeping it so lean and not padding it out to 350-400 pages like many have done before. The story is told here fully and still leaves enough room for the characters to breath and be developed.
Clever story telling and pacing with a twist halfway through that I’m still unsure whether I liked or not but by that time I was already all in so I went with it.
It’s a long time since I’ve read such an entertaining and accomplished first book in a series. I can’t wait for the next one.
Many thanks to Storm Publishing for the ARC through Netgalley.

Wow, even while I guessed a couple of twists, I did NOT see that coming. This was such a compelling, slow-burn thriller, featuring FBI agent Josie Vance, who specialises in finding lost children. Having been kidnapped and held for several years as a child herself, Josie is dedicated and relentless, but has a very supportive husband and a therapist to help her with her trauma. I loved the author depicting the struggles to balance her job with her family life.
I can't wait for the next book, because I am HOOKED.
Thanks to Storm and NetGalley for the ARC.

Emily Ray was abducted and held captive for years until her kidnapper unshackled her and drove away. Weeks later he was found in a burned out van. The same van Emily was abducted in.
Years later Emily is now happily married with twin daughters. She is also in charge of the FBI’s
CARD task force, the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment. She has dedicated her life to finding the taken.
Don’t get complacent on this one thinking you know what is happening, or how it will end…..the twists are very twisted!
Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for this terrific ARC with its deceit and tension filled pages.
This review was given voluntarily and is my opinion.

Emily Ray is an FBI agent that specializes in finding missing children, a young girl is taken from the same neighborhood Emily was taken years ago

This book was written beautifully. It was like watching a movie come to life in my mind with the power of just the words on the pages. The story follows Agent Emily Ray, on a new case which threatens to bring her past to life and threaten the future of the life she has built. A twist I didn’t expect, turns the whole story around and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Emily Ray isn’t your typical FBI agent. She searches for missing children. When a young girl vanishes from the very neighbourhood where Emily was once taken, the case becomes deeply personal, forcing her to navigate a labyrinth of memories and buried secrets. The plot unfolds as Emily gathers clues to locate the suspect, someone that she knows very well, while the author's carefully placed twists encourage readers to reexamine the evidence and think more deeply about every detail.
This novel was full of unexpected twists that change the entire projection of the novel. I thought I had guessed the ending halfway through the novel but I was totally wrong. I would rate this book a solid 5 stars. It is well-written, engaging, and manages to keep you interested throughout.

That’s how to start a series!! Wow… I loved this!
I really loved how the author created Emily Ray’s character. From being kidnapped when she was a child, and kept for eight years until she escaped. As an adult, she now works for the FBI helping find missing children. Her character is a strong woman, from her personal to professional side.
This book is powerful, tense, with twists that you won’t see coming. The suspense is so real, it feels like you were there.
I can’t wait for more of Emily Ray!
I highly recommend!
Thank you so much to Storm Publishing for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
THIS. BOOK.
I was originally drawn to it because it was listed for fans of Jess Lourey, who’s one of my favorites. And this book absolutely lives up to that hype.
First and foremost, thank you to Netgalley for this ARC. I’ve already preordered book 2 (out in July?? Glad we don’t have to wait long for it!).
Marking for spoilers just in case.
I will preface this by saying this is a tough read as a mom. In the beginning, I actually considered a DNF because of how much the taken girl reminds me of my daughter. However, I am so glad I persisted.
The pacing was great, the twist wasn’t something I saw coming at all, and the story was real and gripping. I really liked the author’s writing style, and the voice she gave the protagonist — it felt very to the point and forward, not fluffy (sometimes fluff can take away from the story in a thriller like this).
The only thing that didn’t sit right was that I felt like I was constantly waiting for one more twist, and it never came. I wanted more. But with a second book coming soon, I think that may fill the void. :)

My Name is Emily Ray is a deeply moving and beautifully written story that lingers long after the final page. Michelle Domingues Greene has crafted a character in Emily Ray who feels so real, so vulnerable, and yet so resilient. Her journey is one of self-discovery, courage, and hope, and I found myself completely invested in her from the very beginning. This book is a must-read for anyone who appreciates powerful storytelling and authentic, unforgettable characters. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published May 27, 2025.

The premise of this book was so intriguing! Kidnappings spanning over twenty years, could they possibly be related? This kept me glued to the pages and the ending was incredibly satisfying!
Thank you to NetGalley, Michelle Dominguez Greene, and Storm Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I kept hearing about this book so I decided to give it a go. Although I figured out all the twists around the 40% mark I still enjoyed reading to find out I was right. If you haven't read a ton of thriller then it may be harder to guess the twists.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My Name is Emily Ray grabbed my attention from the first page. The story follows… Emily Ray of course. She is an FBI specialist called in to help solve the case of a missing seven-year-old girl, Josie Vance. What makes this case special for Emily is that she was also abducted as a child and under very similar circumstances. This plot is unique and adds an emotional layer that makes the stakes feel even higher.
The writing is offers a deep dive into Emily’s character. It was fascinating to see her struggle with OCD and anxiety from the beginning. The author does an excellent job of showing how she’s not okay, even if she’s pretending that she is. There were moments where I felt extremely frustrated with Emily, and these situations made her feel real and relatable.
The suspense was also palpable throughout the book and really kept me on edge. The writing evoked a true sense of concern for Emily and her family, and it felt like I was watching an episode of *Criminal Minds*. My Name is Emily Ray is thrilling, suspenseful, and emotional, I highly recommend to mystery lovers.

I just finished “My Name is Emily Ray” by Michele Dominguez Greene and it was an excellent thriller! It’s the story of an FBI agent, Emily Ray, who was kidnapped as a child and now hunts kidnappers herself.
Being a kidnapping victim herself, Emily has lots of internal demons to slay and I feel like the author really described Emily’s emotional rollercoaster really well. You will feel what she’s experiencing.
Overall an excellent twisty thriller with great potential for the follow-on stories in the series. This book
Earned a solid 4 stars from me!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. This book publishes on May 27th. Go read it!!

Arc from NetGalley.
Thank you! THANK YOU! this was an absolute fantastic read! If you love Frieda… this. This should be your next book. There is so many fine tuned details and descriptions I felt like I was part of the detective group investigating this myself. I was on edge and I yelled “shut the front door! WHAT!” At least twice while reading this. You do not see or expect any twists just pure anticipation of learning what happens to this little girl then BAM out of left field something hits you, you could never predict.
Do yourself a favor and read this book!!

My name is Emily Ray by Michelle Dominguez Greene is the first book in a series and a new author to me.
FBI Agent Emily Ray oversees the Card team (Child Abduction Rapid Deployment). When she leads a team of investigators when a young girl Josie Vance from Cove Park California vanishes. She is the best of what she does as Twenty-eight years ago she was one of them. She was abducted and kept captive for 5 years until her escape.
Josie Vance seems to have similar looks to Emily and as they investigate the kidnapper send messages to Emily that only Emily would know, form all of them years ago when she was held captive. Her captor from years ago died in a fire but when she identified him did, she get it wrong. Further messages and going over old forensics, that the captor of Jose Vance is her old Nemesis James Tibbs!
By reading the blurb of this book I know this book was going to be good. But after reading I didn’t now how good this is, and I tell you this is a fantastic book. This is a suspenseful and well-paced book. The storyline totally engaging and emotional in all different way. The characters are well plotted especially Emily with her current job and the flashbacks of her time in captivity. You can feel the emotion coming off the pages. I couldn’t stop reading this and I would think this would make a great TV series. I can’t wait for the next one as I noticed its out in July. 5 stars from me.

First and foremost, a huge THANK YOU to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and author, Michelle Domínguez Greene for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review. Publication date is currently set for May 27, 2025.
🤩 WOW 🤩, 10/10 for one of the most surprising reveals in a book that I've read in a while. I have to say, I never saw that one coming.
My Name Is Emily Ray is the first book in a brand new series, Special Agent, Emily Ray, and, as the title gives away, features FBI Special Agent, Emily Ray. As head of the CARD UNIT (Child Abduction Rapid Deployment) of the FBI, it's Emily's job to locate, find, and rescue children who are the victims of an abduction. It's not a job for the faint hearted. On their last assignment, although Emily and her team were successful in locating the missing child, the team did not arrive in time to find the child alive.
The reader learns that Special Agent Ray has a unique connection to each of the missing children her team are tasked with finding. When Emily Ray was just seven years old, she was abducted by a man called James Tibbs and held captive for eight years; at which point she was able to flee from her confinement and was reunited with her family. Since that time, Emily has made it her life's work to locate missing children and return them to their homes.
In this instalment, the CARD UNIT has been tasked to find young Josie Vance. Seven-year-old Josie seemingly disappeared without a trace from a local playground, while under the watchful eye of her nanny. As the team's investigation begins, Emily uncovers chilling evidence suggesting that her (own) past may be about to collide with the present.
The author writes that she has been fascinated by the emotional journey of people who survive complex trauma and questions why some people are perceived as more worthy than others; and why some children (or people) are valued and other discarded. It's an interesting topic of research. Another important question to ask might be, what happens when the narrative is switched?
There are themes at play here which may trigger some readers: child abduction/abuse, and mental health issues like PTSD and OCD. However, this reader thought these were all handled with a high level of care and skill; and were covered off no more than as necessary to fit in with the scope of the story.
There have been plenty who have slotted this one into the psychological thriller genre; but I'm not sure how I would categorise this one. Mystery. Thriller. Most definitely. Psychological thriller….I could be swayed, those surprising reveals definitely messed with my mind!
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Storm Publishing for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
