A beautiful multi generational story crossing continents about the importance and love and family, and the difficulties of arranged marriages. Intertwined with Rumi’s poetry, a beautiful tale with gorgeous imagery. If you read the acknowledgments, also a beautiful testament to Abbas’ son and daughter. Also includes a Persian language mini glossary at the back for easy translation of some of the words.

'Alley of Scented Roses is a vibrant tapestry of storytelling, written in the style of stories within stories, weaving together the lives of Iranian women in Australia who support and uplift one another through life’s struggles.'

I love that the stories are of the lives and struggles of women, love that it is Australian and found the way the book is written is w=very interesting and intriguing to say the least. It is well written and is a very heartfelt read. All about family, friendship and finding your way in a new world. I also must say what originally caught my interest in this book was that it inspired by the literary works of Marsha Mehran, of which I have read her books in the past.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
